UPDATE: I have been back twice since my review and the vegetarian burritos were not as amazing as before. There were no delicious veggies. All it had was beans, cheese, rice, and lettuc6e. Stopped in Soledad for coffee and gas. I saw that this place had decent reviews and decided to check it out. My partner and I are vegetarians and she was worried that there would not be vegetarian options because of the name. Two words: Surprisingly Delicious!!! A great example of don’t judge a book by its cover. We both got vegetarian burritos(with extra onions) and a side order of chile relleno. With my experience, vegetarian burritos at small mexican restaurants are bean, cheese, and rice. The burritos actually had veggies(bell peppers, onions, lettuce, etc) which added great texture. Definitely stopping here again!

Solid Mexican in a small town — I’ve hit this place a few times now while rolling up or down the 101. Might not get 4 stars in LA but in Soledad… Add this to your list of «Road Trip Safe Food Stops.» I should probably make a list like that now that I mention it. K thx bye.

We love seafood and have spent a lot of time in Mexico eating our weight in seafood. We’ve eaten at this place about 4 times now. Each and every time the food has been excellent. Nothing fancy, nothing modern. Just really effing good, fresh, Mexican seafood done right! Their grilled chicken salad is excellent. Seafood Paella($ 18) is a platter that is COVERED full of shellfish, prawns, scallops, etc. I always order the whole fried tilapia(mojarra frito). It’s a HUGE tilapia, perfectly fried so that the skin is crisp and the meat is moist and perfectly cooked. The oil is not old so you don’t get a weird flavor. The red rice is just excellent, along with the french fries(from the freezer pre cut but fried to excellent crispiness) along with a salad and your choice of tortillas. I tell you, I did not utter a word for the 20 min it took to devour this fish($ 11-$ 12 for the meal). I’ve had excellent fried tilapia in the Phillipenes many times. And this actually was on par with that. Everyone else at the table was commenting how good my fish looked and I just nodded and greedily at every single bite without offering any. It was that good! If this place was closer, we would go all the time. But since we can’t, we go to the El Michoacano in Watsonville which has the best chavelas and has a decent whole fried fish.

My favorite stop on the drive from LA to SF. It’s really nondescript but is one of my top Mexican places, especially the shrimp and pork dishes.

Delicious Mexican seafood! The campechana ceviche was as good as any I’ve had in Mexico, and the Especialidad Puerto Angel was fresh and flavorful.

Do not let the location fool you. Authentic food, and some of the best in town. I always get either the fish /camaron burrito(not on the menu) or the fish torta. Great food, good service, and consistency get this place 5 stars.

Good food! My husband had chicken enchiladas and I had the chicken salad. My chicken salad didn’t have any carbs or beans tho so went back and bought some chips and salsa. Then it was really good

Just needed a quick snack during my drive from Paso Robles to the Bay Area. Their single fish taco was such a surprise! Different — blackened and fresh fish. While waiting, I noticed they had both English and Spanish speaking customers. That’s a good sign for a Mexican restaurant. I will stop here again!

Stopped here to grab a bite when I was driving from San Luis Obispo to Mountain View. The reviews I had read all had high praise for the food but complained about the service and atmosphere. I would say those are dead on. The place isn’t the cleanest, and the service is pretty slow. The food however is great! Such good a shrimp ceviche tostada, and the carne asada I had was delicious too. Definitely better than I expected, worth trying!

This place is great! I would have given it five stars if it was a little nicer and cleaner inside but it is what it is. The food was fantastic!

Used to be the place to eat, after they sold and changed cooks, it hasn’t been the same. I still go eat there once in a while, But not as often as I used to. I used to recommend it to all my friends from out of Town, not anymore.

Tasty food, super fast. Also love that the salsa is really good — hot but not so hot you lose your tastebuds! Staff is really friendly and prices are good. We love the burritos and tacos :)

The food was great! And the service was good but the time of waiting was too long I waited about 1 hour for my food. It was worth it though.
