Nice people that mean well but can’t deliver. I went in looking for basic black dress shoes in basic sizes, in a shoe store full of shoes but alas, NOTHING! No size 9 black dress shoes? Really?!?

Shop online and Avoid this He11hole. Horrible Service + Great Selection = Irritating Experience. Order what you like online. Between the young clerk trying to force the shoe out of my mothers hand as we are talking to the very rude heavy set women working the mens shoes who was so desparately trying to sell to the older gentlemen(that really isnt going to buy anything unless he ask 500 questions) that she just couldnt be bothered with a customer who knew exactly what they wanted(eye roll)…this place is top of the list if you want to experience that scene in Pretty Woman where The Nasty Chicks try to make you feel like«S». If you watched the movie, you know they lose out of the sale due to their sales practices. As for the shoes… they are nice but a few clicks of a website and you can avoid the abuse and get your shoes the painless way. AVOID!

Cute little store of clogs, etc. They’re on the pricey side. We don’t come to shop here, but all the kids in my family have a picture in the clog out front. It’s more novelty than anything.

On our last trip to Solvang we popped in here to browse while walking around town. I was looking for a pair of comfortable sandals but not really expecting to find anything. The store was fairly busy but the staff was friendly and helpful. I found a well made, comfortable pair of Clarks sandals. This store carries quality brands. The price was probably full retail but I wasn’t expecting discounts in a town that relies heavily on tourism. I’m happy with my purchase.

The owner of the store contacted me directly a few days after my original post. He went out of his way to make sure to replace the clogs that broke. I am impressed with how he handled this situation. I will definitely do business with them again!

I bought two pairs of shoes at this store. My 12 years old son decided to wear his out of the store. While shopping through Solvang he stated one of the shoes was tighter than the other and hurt his foot. We returned to the store to ask them if they could stretch out the one shoe to fit. We asked the same saleslady that sold us the shoes and in a rude tone, her response was, «he tried the shoes on in the store and said they fit and as they were canvas shoes they would not stretch». The next day we drove to Santa Barbara for the day. I came upon a shoemaker on State Street and asked if they could stretch the shoe. That shoemaker did stretch the shoe to fit perfectly. Most likely Solvang Shoe Store does not have a lot of return customers due to the high volume of tourists and assumes you don’t have to go the extra mile to satisfy a customer!

Some pretty awesome wooden clogs here! The staff is pretty helpful and it’s really fun to try out the wooden shoes. Pretty tiny shoe store — they’re kind of crunchy and have a lot of things like Birkenstocks and Clarks. Everything is overpriced though, so check out the clogs but buy your new sandals elsewhere.

Ok, I went to Solvang when I was a kid and bought wooden clogs from this shoe store! They now definitely carry a wide variety of shoes, but they still have a decent selection of clogs!

Let’s face it. People come here to try on the wooden clogs thousands of people have worn over the years. I have had so much fun wearing those shoes over the years. But never have I considered actually buying shoes here. I am a tourist freeloader and I love their wooden shoes.

Randomly thinking about buying another pair of birkenstocks and since I’m strolling past a huge clog, of course I decide to come in here. I spot the birks right away, I pull one of the samples off and wonder where the sales people are? Finally after trying on a couple pairs on my own, I see a girl staring off into space obliviously, and I ask if she works there. She does. I tell her what I’m looking for and a minute later she comes back with the sandals I want. She hands them over, I saunter around a bit, seems they need to be a bit bigger. She gets another pair and just kind of drops them from waist high to the floor. «Oops. Heh, there you go.» Really? You couldn’t hand them to me? Or put them by my feet? Ok. then she says«oh the strap isn’t done» So you couldn’t fasten them for me while I was trying to put the first pair back in the box? There was absolutely no customer service. Won’t go back, won’t recommend.

I spoke to the owner on the phone and he was nothing but rude! So much for me actually walking in that store.

So before Moccasins were really trendy my family and I would stock up on Minnetonka’s here. Now that they are mainstream and department stores carry them, I pass by this little shoe store. I still have a special place for them in heart. Also…be aware when you put your little children in the big red shoe… not only is it really hot since it is wood and metal but I can’t even count how many times I have seen people spit in it or throw trash in there. Its like the Blarney stone… don’t do it.

The last thing I expected to buy in Solvang was shoes, but I ended up being pulled in by their displays of Eccos and Clarkes, as I’m always looking for comfortable shoes I can wear to work. Vince managed to sniff out the shoes that were on sale, so I ended up leaving with a couple pairs of Eccos I’m very happy with. This place is probably best known for their clogs, and I think it’s cool how they have regular clogs as well as those painted with flowers and rosemaling-like patterns.

Good selection of mostly Women’s shoes but very over-priced. They have Ecco’s Merrill’s and others like that.

Oh Solvang Shoe Store! Nobody knows your name but every child of touristy parents has a vague memory of sitting for a photograph in your red clog that sits on the sidewalk to this day. And, you have a pretty amazing selection of Dansko clogs, and for kitsch value alone, a lot of those moccassins that were hella popular in the early 80’s. When I was sitting in that shoe.
