2 stars for average Chinese-American food in the Rutgers area, but so many stars taken away for having terrible delivery. I had to cancel my order today after spending 20 minutes in the rain trying to locate where the driver was. The drivers don’t speak English, so when you call, someone in the restaurant answers, translates, and then communicates with the driver. It’s like a hellish game of round robin, which ends in you not getting fed, getting soggy in the rain, and trying to not curse at some restaurant worker over the phone. Save yourself the trouble, and either get take out or don’t bother.

I love this place! The food is so tasty and delicious. Even with the new management, they’ve stayed true to their Boneless BBQ Pork Combo Dish and, last night, I had their Pork and Eggplant and the flavors were heavenly. I would suggest this place, if you’re in the area. They’ve also recently added delivery through GrubHub!

New Management, and I don’t know what in the world to call it now. There’s a Thai menu, and a sushi bar? Digital signage and a flat screen tv showing menu items. This was one of the last old school Chinese-American places in the area. You didn’t come here for the Authentic taste of Hunan Province(or Hong Kong where the last staff were from) but if you wanted the old gwailo staples, this place was it. White linen cloth, tea cups, fried wontons and duck sauce. General Tso’s that was crispy with the right mix of peppers and garlic, ready in 10 minutes. They had it. Pork fried rice that was perfectly done, this was the spot. I’m sorry new managers, but I feel like you gutted an old friend and what exactly you’re trying to specialize in I’m not sure. If you want to open something new, go for it, rename the place and be the best at what you want it to be. The current hybrid fusion /mix of Asia though? I’m sorry, not working for me.

We’ve passed by this place many times but never went in because the outside looked a little depressing. Recently I was looking for a dine-in Americanized Chinese restaurant on Unilocal and this came up. My husband and I thought we give it a shot because we live pretty close and we were growing tired of our usual take-out Chinese. Well, looks like we have been missing out. This place is pretty good and service is very friendly and welcoming. The interior is a little outdated but I came here for the food so I could careless. We ordered wonton soup, coconut shrimp, Hunan pork, general tso’s three ways, and fried pork dumplings. We basically finished all of it and I think our waiter was surprised. Fried pork dumplings and the wonton soup were my favorites, General tso’s was a very close 2nd. Fried rice was standard, Hunan pork just wasn’t my thing but my husband liked it, coconut shrimp was a little too greasy. In the end my hubs was kinda upset it took us years to finally give this place a shot and I’m still craving those dumplings. We will be back!

Went here with my husband last night. the restaurant is very clean .It was nicely decorated and the service was impeccable. the food was also very good .we got pork fried rice and bok choy peaking duck sweet-and-sour pork chop and shrimp with mayonnaise broccoli and walnuts. I would’ve liked of the duck with buns instead of like the wrap but everything else was really good I even like the crispy noodles they put on the table with the sauce. The bill was high but we had left overs. It was good and ill go back. Tea was nice too. Dont let outside fool you with appearance. Plenty of parking.

The Mongolian beef is yummmy! Don’t go by the uninviting exterior, the food is very good. The Chinese tea is one of the best, you can drink the while kettle

Décor needs a bit updating. Ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken combo comes with soup, pork fried rice & egg roll so far the soup is tasty. Chicken was nice and crispy Rice was ok, could have been a bit hotter considering my chicken was nice and hot. The egg roll cabbage tasted a bit sour. Hubby orders Generals Tso beef. tasted decent and served with white rice. all and all its not bad.

I hadn’t been by this restaurant in a while. Before I would’ve given them only three stars for average Chinese fare but they definitely earned another star. I like that there are plenty of offerings of fish. I had the lunch special of salt and pepper three ways(fish, shrimp and squid) and the fish and the squid were especially good. No rubber band squid here! I would’ve given the full five stars but although the broccoli in the dish was nice, the other veggies were a smidge on the limp side. Overall, though, I’ll be visiting this place much more than before!

The food was horrible. The chicken wings were not cooked all the way and bloody and greasy. The rice had no flavor. Generals tso sauce was watered down and tasteless. I will never eat here again.

This restaurant recently took on a partner and we shall see what changes lie ahead. It has to be hard to pay the rent in such a big space in a shopping center. The food is ok but I think they need a boost. A new menu would be a place to start. The owner is a very cute young asian guy with a shaved head along with his dad. Support their business!

First visit and food was delicious. Had the General Tso lunch special. Good portion size, great flavor, same goes for the hot n sour soup. Vegetable rice needed some more flavor but overall very good.

Good quality Chinese. I got the spring roll it was delicious and crispy. We split a order of the cold sesame noodles… Excellent. For dinner I had chicken three ways, the general tso’s chicken was good, the sweet-and-sour chicken excellent, chicken with snow peas a little bland. Even though the servers did not know answers we had about menu they found out and were friendly and helpful. Overall a nice experience and I would definitely return.

Looks clean, nice service, and good food. Can’t ask for much better. Food tasted and looked like it was real, not like other chinese places where I find myself questioning which type of meat I am eating when I order a General Tso’s chicken. Cant beat the lunch special!

Our family has been eating at Hunan Delight for as long as I can remember. We always get authentic delicious food. It is simply the best Chinese food restaurant in Middlesex County.

Authentic Chinese food. Lunch for only $ 6.95. They have a new chef from Taiwan. We had two Lunch specials: a steamed fish filet with ginger scallion, the other vegetable dish. Both delicious and good portion.

Update: 2⁄2014 and it remain consistent after multiple visits. Previous Review: I couldn’t help but notice all the high Unilocal reviews for this fusion but mostly Chinese place. Lying in the middle of an outside big square mall not easy to find, but worth the hunt. $ 7& up lunch specials w/tea is a good price. House lo mein was filled w/a combo of chicken, pork, scrod & veggies just right nice noodles without gops of a gelatinous mess. The sliced pork with eggplant in garlic sauce was absolutely scrumptious. Salt & pepper fish with veggies was nice and delicate. Crab rangoon deserved a luge lesson because I sleighed into it head first yummy. Wonton soup was divine nice tender wontons with very flavorful soup base. The hot & sour soup was perfect packed w/all the normal ingredients the perfect medium mix of hot & sour. Sizeable portions include white, brown or fried rice. Clean with little dining atmosphere, but the food is what you come here for and it rocks.

Um… Why is this place so well rated? This is just a takeout restaurant where you can sit down. They close at a mere 8:30PM and offer mediocre service. The staff talks about customers in Chinese. I caught them by surprise by asking for my food to be wrapped up in Chinese. The waitress suddenly it toned down and told me she was just going to give me boxes so I could wrap it up myself… because a lot of customers apparently complained about the staff spilling their leftovers. Go to Edison for authentic Chinese food. Better yet, just go to Noodle Gourmet in New Brunswick for takeout.

After countless mediocre and bad chinese takeout experiences I stopped eating Chinese food for about 5 years. I then tried Hunan Delight and was pleasantly surprised and they have now become a regular go-to for my takeout dinners in Somerset. Food is always good and doesn’t have that cheap-takeout taste. They seem to take pride in their food and the restaurant is usually busy, and with Chinese patrons which is always a good sign. So glad they added Crab Rangoon to the menu, and theirs are great!
