I live near here so I decided to give it a try. I ordered chicken wing and chicken broccoli. The chicken wing was average. The chicken in chicken broccoli was terrible. I only ate the broccoli, which tasted OK. I ordered a small chicken broccoli, and the owner ask if I wanted a side of rice with that, so I’m guessing rice doesn’t automatically come with this dish(which is difference since most places serve rice with these dishes). The food didn’t take long to finish, which is a plus. Customer service is average.

Mostly I order delivery from work. I only went there one time for pick up order. I happened to drive by looking for an open restaurant for food because its Christmas and almost all places are closed. They have a bar there and it was spacious. After the lady took my order, she was trying to figure out what my ethnicity was.(I ordered about $ 40 food so i think she was trying to be nice to me) I appreciate that she was trying to chat with me but for some reason i dont really feel like talking to her. Anyway I like the Lo Main, but its a bit too greasy. When i finish it, I can see there are a pile of oil on the bottom. So i told them light on the oil, yet i dont see the difference. It doesn’t bother me that much though cuz i enjoy their Lo Mein. Whatsoever, their soups arent that great and its inconsistent. i feel like drinking water beside the hot and sour soup. The HS Soup was alright. I like they put few mushrooms on the egg drop soup but they need to add more taste to it cuz it tastes like water. Their Ma Po Tofu was decent. However you have to order rice on the side. Their chicken Teriyaki is not bad. Their scallops with something sauce was ok. Its just there are more veggies than the scallops. I thought the scallops was the main character. Anyway those are the highlights of their food on my impression. I would order Ma Po Tofu and Lo Mein in the future. As for their delivery, sometimes fast sometimes slow. your normal typical delivery(I normally tip them $ 5 if they arrive withing 35 min or so) Plus the delivery fee $ 2. Overall its your typical American-Chinese fast food.

Never again… The food was pretty gross. It was very greasy. It was dripping with grease. The general gao chicken– well I wasn’t even sure if it was chicken but I wouldn’t recommend it Because the sauce is very sweet and syrupy. The crab rangoons were spongy. Yuck. Delivery is very fast– too fast. The food must have been ready and not cooked to order. Taste just like mall Chinese food.

This place is the perfect weekend food delivery place. You get a great amount of food for a very very reasonable price. More than that the food is delicious, their beef and broccoli is as good as any I’ve had and I’ve not had issue with other dishes either. Best part is that delivery is really fast and accurate, I’ve ordered 3 or 4 times and have been pleasantly surprised each time. If you’re looking for high cuisine this isn’t it, but if you’re looking for some unhealthy yet delicious food that will leave you feeling full without impacting the wallet then this is your place. :)

Solid Chinese food. I like their pork fried rice and their peking ravioli.

Fast delivery… But the food was not that great very oily. I ordered the lo mein and was just not appealing and ended up throwing it away. The chicken wings as mentioned in previous reviews are huge but they lack in taste also.

Absolutely outstanding. They deliver in good time and food is always Hot. The food quality is perfect, I’ve eaten at most of the Chinese eateries around and they don’t compare !!!

Whoever said you can’t buy happiness is wrong… They have it right on the menu, cash and credit cards accepted… Wheelchair access is fairly good, double doors that are fairly closely spaced, and power door on the outside doors is often not working. Bathrooms not checked. Full bar, with patrons that are sometimes very loud(sports fans) but dining area is otherwise nice, and it is possible to sit where television is not visible from at least some seats. Food is ‘generic Chinese-American’ with selections that are about the same as you’d expect to find in most Chinese restaurants outside of Chinatown… At different times, I’ve had the above mentioned ‘4 Happiness’(Chicken, beef, pork strip, shrimp, vegetables in mildly spicy sauce), House rice or Lo Mein, Boneless Ribs, Wings, and some of their ‘meal combos’ — all have been well prepared and portions were generous. Service is very good. Bottom line, is nothing exotic, but good food, good service and a good value for the money.

My husband had to work REALLY hard to talk me into ordering take-out from this place, but it was actually surprisingly decent. The orange chicken doesn’t come with rice, which is a little odd, but tasted just fine. We also really enjoyed the crab rangoons. Make no mistake, this is your standard low-quality fare, but it’s not quite the gastrointestinal apocalypse predicted by other reviewers.

We wanted to sit an eat over an hour before close and the manager was very rude and said we could not and had to take our food to go. When I got home to eat my dinner I found out it came with the wrong noodles and they weren’t even cooked. It was like eating raw ramen. Disgusting.

As far as quick takeout/delivery Chinese food, this place takes the cake. Quick delivery, good size portions, great price, and most of all– good food! King Pao chicken was delicious, not fried, white meat, good spice level. Pork fried rice was light and yummy. Beef teriyaki was fantastic! I didn’t feel gross after eating. This will be my go to place for takeout!

I love China Delight, but it’s not exactly a place you go for light, authentic Chinese fare. Order a greasy combo and a couple of tiki drinks and grab a keno slip and you’re in for a great time! Don’t forget about the scratch ticket vending machine on the way to the bathroom …

Good service. I just moved to Boston from California, and mistakenly ordered ‘chow mein’ thinking its the dish with soft noodles. Turns out its called lo mein in the east coast and chow mein comes with hard noodles! The owner switched them out for me!

So far my quest for a good chinese place continues. The porf fried ruce that my husband order was delicious but my beef fried rice not so much. The lo mein was good and the chicken wings were huge. I will try them again.

I love this place. It’s often fairly empty over in the restaurant side, which means excellent service. We’ve even put in a couple custom orders and they’ve come out pretty delicious. I wouldn’t say it’s *great* food, but it’s inexpensive, tasty, good portions, and the people working there are pretty nice. I definitely recommend it!

Ok the food is kinda bad, but this place is a community establishment. People here are so friendly, especially the regulars!

China Delight is delightful. I thought this was the best Chinese food place in Somerville by a long ways. They have the typical Chinese food selection, but the taste was supremely better than its nearby competitors. They had a wide range of foods, but I always went for the General Gau’s. They make great egg rolls and excellent dumplings. The Hot and Sour soup here is average, and the Crab Rangoons are very plump and tasty. The delivery is pretty speedy and although I forget what the minimum charge was it definitely was something reasonable as I was able to get it for only a single person’s order. I ate inside the restaurant once and it was very nice and comfortable.

Not impressed with this place. Not as fast as most Chinese places(which always seem to cook food at the speed of lightning… or a really fast bird) and the food was unimpressive — chicken was pretty fatty

Aw damn China D, why you gotta go and tempt me with promise, only to prove — through the power of crab rangoon — why you’re sitting atop 2.5 estrellas? No bueno. Look, I get the potentially secret underverse you may be holding behind closed doors, with your Keno attracting tens of townies daily, and your incredibly drinkable $ 12 scorpion bowls. It’s juice, Ma; sweah-ta-gawd Ma, ya gonna luhv it. Said bowls and the appealing price tage($ 7 – 8) on combos that pair 2lb of pork fried rice with passable beef teriyaki and nutless, mildly gravied Kung Pao Celery(menu sez chicken? So. It’s mostly celery), but that’s where the Delight ends. One bite of her rangoon introduced an undercooked wonton wrapped around a filling that subbed straight lard for cream cheese and no discernable crab/krab/Krabb™ or otherwise. This was the worst crab rangoon I’ve ever tasted. But I digress, siting the oft-referenced Dilbert punchline: «Fast, cheap and good — pick any two.» Well friends, my order was filled in under 10 minutes and $ 8 covered three saturated gut bombs waiting to wage war on my GI, Joe. With fast and cheap covered, guess who got the boot?

Honestly, all americanized chinese food takeout tastes the same to me… well, for the most part. I’m just not that picky. My boyfriend, however, is super picky — we’ve tried a number of delivery places in the area and this is the one that he’s decided he likes. China Delight delivers exactly what you ordered, enough sauce, extra fortune cookies, and they are fast and nice(I usually order through Foodler). The prices are in the normal range — not cheap, but not crazy expensive. They have combination plates, and pretty much most dishes you could want. I particularly like the crab rangoon and the peking ravioli. He’s had a few different entrée combos and liked them all. Now the huge caveat here is that neither of us has tried their General Gao’s/Tso’s yet. We’re both huge fans so that’s actually surprising, and generally what we use as the measure of how good a place is(and, of course, whether it comes with more than 2 pieces of broccoli that are neither under nor overcooked). So, I suppose I’ll update my review when I do that but for now — being in Porter square — this is our go-to place.
