Pretty reliable place to grab some great greasy Chinese food. And their shrimp lo mein and boneless spareribs are GREAT! Oh and your combination plate automatically comes with 2 crab rangoon and a spring roll. I’ve been ordering from them for about 3 years and their food never dissapoints. Only thing I’m not happy about is that their prices have gone up while their portion sizes have shrunk. Nevertheless I still continue to frequent them because their food is really just that good.

Pretty sure the Wonton soup gave me food poisoning. That’s a night of agony and two days of recovery… so you know, maybe go elsewhere.

Really great local Chinese take out place always good food fast and nice service. One time they mistakes our fried rice order for lo mein and offered us 15% off and to remake the order.

Great for takeout. The New Yummy hut is your familiar cheap Chinese food takeout spot. I’ve tried a few dishes from them and they have been fine. Nothing particularly special, but fine for what it is. Everything tasted like it was fresh and made to order. Their fried rice was not bad which is not to go unappreciated. Their portions were pretty generous and if you don’t order in advance, it only takes about 10 min for your order to be ready. They have a few tables, but I definitely would only recommend takeout. If you have a craving for cheap Chinese food, I think New Yummy hut will hit the spot.

Now you have to ask, why give 4 stars to a local Chinese food shop? I have to say, I would give this place a 5⁄5 just because while their food is spectacular, it can be hit or miss with some of their dishes, but as time goes on, they seem to get better. I will note though, the restaurant is also VERY clean and well maintained, which is also not a common thing. Their delivery is average, depending on the time you order, it can take 30 – 45 minutes. If you order during prime time, of course expect it to take double the time, because you are a moron for expecting anything less when ordering during the busy time. They only have one driver, so I understand. I will say though, their General Gao/Tso/Dao/Pow(seriously it’s the same thing but interchangeable) is serious business, and definitely made in one of the better sauces in somerville. Don’t ignore the sesame chicken and beef either as they are awesome too. Both the spring and the egg rolls are good, but nothing to rave about. All around a solid place to order from.

Between delivery service and this poorly servicing restaurant I would not advise you to waste your time ordering from them. They are unapologetic and RUDE for being very late, did I mention VERYLATE with the food delivery. If you are going to spend yo8ur hard earned money on delivery, Order your food from SOMEONEELSE. These people do not deserve your money.

Ew. Disclaimer, I don’t love cheap Chinese food because its too greasy and am vegetarian so my options are limited. That being said I know good cheap Chinese food and New Yummy Hut(NYH) does not fit the bill. We got the Kung Pao Fried Bean Curd and Brocoli combo platter and veggie lomein. The lo-mein was on point, everything you look for in cheap Chinese food. Salty, MSG-y, so greasy, you wake up in the middle of the night with your mouth drier than the sahara and think«what have I done??» Yup, they got that right. The fried bean curd wasn’t fried, it was so gross, gooey uncooked tofu is a sign of awful Chinese food. The sauce was fine, not particularly flavorful. Basically just a hint of spice. The spring roll was also good. Crispy and greasy. Portions and price were A-OK. Go here if you want, but I wouldn’t make a special effort to check it out.

This place is a very ordinary take out place. The shrimp fried rice is very greasy and the taste is mediocre. I would go to this place only if there is nothing else open and I have had a little too much alcohol to be walking around too much.

Sorry to do this yummy hut I liked your food but now trumped by bad customer service. I just tossed your menu in the trash, call it a new year resolution… and this is why: I called at 6:09 and live 5 minutes away. At 7:35 I called for a status update and you said almost done. I call at 9:15 and you said almost done. I don’t like being lied to just say you are backed up or forgot or something responsible. I would have been forgiving we all make mistakes and I understand busy but not right out lying and no attempt to remedy. I spend $ 100s a year at your place which you just lost. Food is pretty good, above average but closer to average. Pad Thai, Sesame Tofu, Veggie Dumplings, General Gao, etc. I am docking them for two reasons. 1. because the prices are very high. For what you get there are other places in the area that are just as good and a lot cheaper. And 2. They will charge your credit card whatever they want. I recently drove and picked up an order there, to avoid the $ 2.00 delivery fee on top of the order, and you are expected to tip as well. The order for two people of appetizer and two main dishes was $ 27(high, no?). My credit card was charged $ 32. So beware. If you want fairly average yet overpriced Chinese food with the good chance you will be upcharged then by all means give them a shot.

Umm yea I came here for lunch. Nothing really exciting about the food. I tried their Shrimp and broccoli and it is really small portions. So small that its small enough for toddler to eat. At the bottom of it some slimy clear was there. I work at the hospital so I was looking around to see what restaurants are good for lunch. Yea I don’t think I”ll ever back come here.

Their Lo Mein is really good. Yummy Hut is a small Chinese Takeout/Delivery Restaurant in Somerville, and has a good variety of foods to order on its menu. It has two tables or so to sit down at too, which I suppose you could eat at, but I guess it’s not really meant to be a sit-down restaurant. I’m sure they don’t care what you do though. The interior is fairly nice, and they have it decorated nicely with Chinese decorations and plants. They also have a nice flat-screen TV to watch while you’re waiting for your food or eating it(I did take-out), and BBC was playing when I was there. I enjoyed looking at what they had for decorations while I waited for my food. The food is definitely affordable; from what I remember, a meal can cost 5 – 9 bucks, or 10 – 12 bucks for more expensive items. Not too bad. I ordered pork lo mein, and the cook made it in about 5 – 7 minutes. It was a very quick order. There’s also a vending machine(or was it two?) in the restaurant. I had a long day of work, and after walking in the winter cold from work to home(my place was just a few blocks away from this restaurant), I didn’t feel like cooking. I saw the restaurant and decided to order instead. The Large sized lo mein comes in a rectangular foam box, while a small size comes in a pint size cardboard box. I think the large is a better deal, and you’ll have plenty of leftovers for another meal. I know I did. I intended to sit down at the restaurant and eat, but the cashier didn’t ask if it was for here or to go, so he gave me the foam box with lo mein, soy sauce, and the fortune cookie, but no chopsticks. I guess they assume no one uses chopsticks. Anyway, I just took the plastic baggie with everything and left, walked about 5 – 10 minutes home to open the box. It was steaming hot! So good. It was nice of the cook to make it fresh for me. Business was pretty dead at 8PM on a Thursday night, so I guess that’s why it was so quick and done to order in a wok. The Lo Mein was not your usual shopping mall lo mein, it was a step or two above that. It was hot, tasty, and fresh, and the sauce was great too. Definitely had a good experience with takeout at Yummy Hut.

I live two blocks away and am a frequent customer. Yummy Hut is a great, ‘greasy spoon’ take-out place. Anything simple and fried here is really solid. They do great egg rolls and spare ribs and friend wontons and crab rangoons. They also do a really interesting curried pineapple rice. Perhaps it is just because i moved to Somerville from a location with terrible take out options, but this place is excellent for all your guilty pleasure lo mein, spare rib, fried rice, and dumpling needs.

This place was a great go-to for some quick, tasty, cheap chinese food. My order was ready in a jiffy, and the price was right. I got the shrimp lo mein, and though the shrimp were tinyyy, there were enough of them that made the cheap price totally worth it. They take cards, though it looks like it might be a cash-only joint. I wouldn’t recommend eating in here, though they did have tables, but this is a great find for some chinese take-out.

Ate here only once(had an errand in Somerville), but it was very good. I saw«Singapore» style noodles mentioned by another Unilocaler, and that clinched the deal. Used to get this at Park Fook(long since closed) in Chinatown, never see it anywhere(except for a mediocre version found in a restaurant in Fall River). A bit on the hot side, but if you like hot curry, you’ll like this curried noodle dish(w. chicken, shrimp, fried egg, veggies). The beef chow foon was quite good also. I can’t speak to consistency, but Yummy Hut is several cuts above your average Chinese take-out.

My cousin ordered a bunch of stuff from here recently for a party. We got to taste a little bit of everything. Definitely need to make a trip here soon when I am craving some Chinese food that is quick but pretty authentic. Beef with Pepper and Onion Chow Foon. Just like the one I would get in Chinatown. Wide noodles, perfectly seasoned with soy sauce. Tender pieces of beef and just the right ratio of meat-veggies-noodles. Singapore Thin Rice Noodles. Slight hint of curry, not too spicy but flavorful. I’m not a big fan of the thin rice noodles, but this was good. Spicy Chicken Wings. Yum! Good level of heat. Wings are separated from the drumstick already. That is the best. You can just dive in for a wing or drumstick instead of having to rip them apart. Crispy and tasty. Crab Rangoon. Pretty good. kind of flat looking. Cream cheese could use a little more flavoring. I love the ones with a hint of onion or scallion. Maybe more imitation crab meat? Didn’t really see much in there. Chicken Teriyaki. Honestly. the best chicken teriyaki I’ve had. The seasoning is delicious. a little on the sweet side, but so delicious. It is small pieces of chicken on a skewer instead of one piece of meat on the skewer. Easy to eat. Beef Teriyaki. Delicious. but I prefer the chicken teriyaki over the beef here. Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. Szechuan Spicy Green Beans. Had to get some veggies in there as well. Pineapple Fried Rice. Curry flavor. a little kick of heat. Love the chunks of pineapple in it along with some shrimp and chicken.

Their Scallion Pancakes and Teriyaki Beef earned my repeat business 2 – 3 times before tonight, but after my latest experience at the New Yummy Hut, I will not be dining there again. We ordered some Scallion Pancakes, Chicken Pad Thai, and a Fried Shrimp and Beef Teriyaki Combo Plate for delivery. After an hour when the food was still a no-show(order placed at 7:30 on a Thursday night; the restaurant is four blocks away), I called the restaurant and was told our food«was actually ready» and that the«delivery man will be there soon». When our food arrived twenty minutes later it was lukewarm and nowhere near fresh; fried items such as rangoons and egg rolls had obviously sat for a bit. About an hour after eating the meal I was sick to my stomach, which has not happened on occasions when I’ve ordered from the New Yummy Hut. Maybe this was an off night for the staff, but I will not risk another poor experience for the few menu items I love here. Note: I’m not unfamiliar with budget friendly(read: cheap!) Chinese food and would have been happy with a three star experience.

As many of the reviews here have stated, Yummy Hut is a solid choice as long as you’re looking for a specific kind of food. If you want to pay $ 50 to go to PF Changs to get some gourmet«Chinese food,» by all means, but if you’re looking for more of a Panda Express quick fix, Yummy Hut will do you right. $ 28.50 got us a «Combination Appetizer,» with some gingery teriyaki chicken sticks that were quite good, some Chinese spareribs which were good, and a solid portion of tasty crab rangoon; it also got us an order of adequate Sweet & Sour chicken — they ladle the sauce on for you — and good Orange Chicken, both entreés coming with a heap of white rice. I would’ve liked to see more vegetables, but overall a good choice for the amount of money we spent. There were plenty of leftovers. Owners/Operators were courteous and food was ready for pick-up within 20 minutes.
