Went here last night. The bf got the black pepper steak tips medium and I got the grilled tuna, medium rare, just for something a little lighter. The tuna was good, but sort of lukewarm on the inside. The fries were great and gigantic and they even did half fries half onion rings for me, which was nice. To be quite honest, I’m sorry I did not also get the steak tips; they were delicious and not chewy at all. I finished off my boyfriend’s plate when he was done. I suppose I might get a «told you so» that the tips were better, but if its on the menu I think it should be executed well. Atmosphere was nice; maybe we’ll be back in cooler weather to enjoy the fireplace on the wall.

If I was ranking this place purely on the burgers, they’d be a hard 5. The burgers are perfect. They are massive, cooked exactly how you order it, have great toppings, and most importantly taste awesome. I didn’t hear a single person complain that their burger was #overcooked. I was a little underwhelmed with the fries and onion rings. Personally I don’t like big steak fries and onion rings with a thick breading. The fries here are just a little too potato-y for me, I prefer the thinner fries with burgers and sandwiches. The staff at RF O’Sullivan’s were friendly and welcoming. Although the burgers take 15 – 20 minutes to cook, it is definitely worth the wait. If you’re really hungry they have a nice selection of appetizers to hold you over until your burger comes out. If you’re looking for one of bostons best burgers, look for further! I highly recommend checking out RF O’Sullivans!

I chose to come here specifically because I could not afford an extravagant meal but have been seriously craving a hamburger. I was totally surprised and really pretty angry to get my check and see that I was charged $ 7 for a hard cider that they had on tap because that feels ridiculously expensive for what it was and they do not list the prices next to the drink list so that felt pretty purposely sneaky. The burger was good, but nothing to write home about. The onion rings were quite tasty but the fries weren’t worth finishing. Honestly, I would say that the excellent service was the best part of this dining experience but I am walking away feeling misled and upset to be out so much money for a meal that wasn’t fancy and a drink that I wish I had known not to get.

I ordered the Cajun Ribeye Steak and it was really nice. The steak was really soft and it was seasoned perfectly. It also came with mashed potatoes and a side salad. The portion was really big as you could see in the pic. The whole meal was just $ 16, definitely a steal!

Went last night, my second time going ever. Service was quick and pleasant. Our food orders came out in a timely manner as well as our drinks. Not too bad considering that the place was packed when we had gotten there. The burger itself was just great, cooked exactly to order(MR) and was quite tasty.

Great burgers and friendly service. It can be a little cramped, but that’s a small complaint when the food is so good. I scoffed at my girlfriend when she ordered the hot dog, but once it came I was kind of jealous. Do not write off the non-burger food here, unless you’re looking for a veggie burger!

The most recent ‘Best Burger’ award hanging on the wall was from 2009. That should have been my first clue that I wasn’t in for anything special. I ordered a simple bacon cheeseburger cooked medium well. 25 minutes later I received a burger with virtually no cheese. Beyond that, both the bacon and the burger were charred. I had to put ketchup on every bite just to mask the taste. The fries that came with with the meal were also over done and greasy. Honestly, the best part of my meal was the lettuce and tomato garnish. The bartender was also clearly uninterested and unhappy to be at work.

Do yall remember Tims bar and grill in the south end? The place where you can get a decent beer and a small, yummy cow on some buns? Remember? Well, RF O’Sullivan brought me way back to Tims burger days. They have a variety of big, juicy burgers and enormous flavorsome fries. Flavor. The flavor is there. They know what they are doing. I was going to try the cock and bull, but I played it safe and had a traditional cheeseburger and fries. The fries. Ugh. My partner brought me here specifically for the Dirty Bird– he went to town. We had our food, drank our beers, rubbed our guts, almost went to sleep, got up and sang back to the car. It really is a nice place. I’m no fan of 5 guys or any of these other so called burger spots. I will be back. I will!

The burgers are good, great even. I was going to take a bus beacuse im lazy, but my friend wanted to walk. We ended up walking. It was 15 minutes. It is important to note Punjabi Dhaba, an excellent indian restaurant, is only 3 minutes away. Despite that I came here. Why? Thanks for asking! This place is pretty darn good. Wish they had free refills on soda, but whateves. 5⁄5 Ps Their fries are pretty cool.

The burgers dude. Like that’s why you go here. Get. A. Burger. There’s a bunch and none are over $ 11. You can tell the meat is good quality, you can see them make it in the open kitchen, and the fries/onion rings are HUGE. One complain is that even a plain burger is around $ 10 but I think that just tells you to get something different! Why get a plain burger when you can get homemade boursin on it for an extra $.50? Or even a bacon cheddar burger is around the same price. Step outside of your box. The place is kind of on the small side so be wary of that but otherwise this is a solid choice. Very much a chill Irish bar vibe with really good food. My only beef(pun intended) was that there was an «open food» charge on our bill for $ 1.25 which we had no idea what it was for. Granted it wasn’t for a lot and the burgers are cheap anyway but that’s some shady business to me. If you are going to add a charge and have cheap burgers, raise the cost of the burgers an extra $.50. I’d still come back though!

Great burgers! It is in my top ten burgers now. Thick french fries, very solid onion rings, solid beer options and massive Corona beers! I was impressed how they maximized the space inside. Friendly respectful service. Hard to find these days… Give it a shot and tell me your favorite burger? I had the black and blue. — PIC

Viewed this place on TV had to try the burgers they are the way they say they are, perfectly cooked, tastes good, very fresh, plain and simple. The place is small cozy corner spot on the corner, full bar dimly-lit, small tables, not too fancy. The burgers are huge and juicy fresh made

I love this place. If you come here for something other than burgers and beers and give this place a poor rating, that’s your own fault. I only took one star because they would not let me substitute my fries for sweet potato fries. I would have paid for the difference, but they said no. I don’t see the reasoning behind that.

After weeks of waiting to plan a trip, after drooling over their burgers on phantom gourmet, I couldn’t wait any longer. The far exceeded all of my expectations and have truly earned the title of Bostons Best Burger. Cock n Cradle was a giant half-pound of sirloin, topped with onion rings and a fried egg. with sides of their notorious hand cut french fries and onion rings, all of which are to die for. I don’t even want to try the entrees as I cannot wait to return for another burger, and maybe try sn appetizer if I can get a friend to tag along. Small, quaint, and cozy bar with the absolutely friendliest staff who are extremely attentive. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. Also, they take a bit long to cook, but it’s more than worth the wait. The burgers are the juiciest you will ever try.

Got take out from here. The restaurant looked cozy and there is a grill in front of the bar where you can watch the chef make your burger. Pretty neat. Took the JD burger home and then heated it up in the over. Tasted amazing even reheated; could only imagine what it must’ve been like at the restaurant! Will have to be back to try more.

Best burger in the greater Boston area, hands down. I come here about once every other week and every time, they cook a perfect burger. Extremely fair prices too. For about $ 10, you get a burger that comes with fries, onion rings, or both for no extra charge. Also, pro-tip, if you ask for half fries and half onion rings, you end up getting a full serving of each. The service is fantastic. It has a decent tv setup for a small bar, if you’re looking to watch a game. My only complaint is that I wish they had more beers on tap.

The restaurant looks like your typical Boston pub with an okay selection of beer on tap and sports on the tvs. We came in at around 9pm on Saturday and there were plenty of seats available. The food: They’re famous for their burgers so that’s what we got. I got the italian with mushrooms and they give you an option of french fries, onion rings, or half and half. I opted for half and half and my boyfriend and I got sweet potato fries on the side(you can’t sub for them). Overall the burger was just okay in my opinion, the patty is shaped like a ball and very thick, I asked for medium rare and definitely got it cooked to the right temp. I thought the toppings were under seasoned and my burger was just okay. I didn’t really love the fries, they’re big and thick cut. I did really like the onion rings and the sweet potato fries came with a really good dipping sauce. Overall, my meal was fine but I don’t think I’d make the trip out again.

I really wanted to dig this place after reading so many reviews of how they’re THEBESTBURGER. Spoiler alert: their burgers aren’t the best. They’re not even really good. I ate it, because I paid for it, but I won’t be back. I ordered the Italian, with the grilled onions and peppers, and added mushrooms. I got my sandwich and the burger itself was huge. I imagine a lot of people are super-impressed with the size of these things – it’s a ½ pound, after all, and hand-formed, so it looks like an awesome mass of meat on your bun. Unfortunately it’s a mass of meat without a lot of flavor. It was juicy, but that’s about it. I could’ve been alright with the flavorless meat if the rest of the burger had been anything to right home about. There were zero condiments on the burger; no mayo, no ketchup. That was surprising. Again, something I could have lived with. But the peppers and onions included in the burger seemed like they had commitment issues with the pan they were sauteed in: they touched a little but didn’t want to take it to the next level. In essence, they were darn near raw. Not pleased. And let’s talk about the mushrooms. The mushrooms were clearly from a can and had been passed over a flame as well instead of being properly sauteed. So, we have a huge hunk of meat with cheese on it, no condiments, barely cooked peppers, onions, and mushrooms, and the mushrooms were canned. Honestly, I would rather get a burger from Four Burgers, or Five Guys, or Tasty Burger than here. It’s too bad too; I’d waited a long time to visit this place.

Very solid burger. They don’t believe in messing with the burgers much and the shape resembles that of a baseball as they don’t press on it. I think they can add a little salt to the burger but believe they don’t add anything and allow the customer to add if they choose. I had the Barnyard which has an egg. I believe if I had a cheeseburger it would’ve enhanced the flavor of the meat. Very juicy and overall recommend this. Great fries and onion rings as well.

While the name begets a corporate office, come in for large and extremely satisfying burgers. The burgers have the perfect char and are incredibly juicy. Recommend medium as the cooking temperature. Served with big wedge fries and/or onion rings(get half and half). The burger menu is long and there is something for everyone, ranging from bacon to French dip, and including the bunless burger. The Italian burger subs a burger instead of sausage, with caramelized onions, soft peppers, and melted cheese. The black and blue burger combines plenty of black pepper with tangy blue cheese.

I came here for the burger and the hype is well-deserved. We sat at the bar and had a great view into the open kitchen. I got the bacon-attor, a burger stuffed with bacon and topped w/cheese. It was perfectly cooked and on a toasted bun. Every single burger that came out of the kitchen looked amazing and I will definitely be back to try a few more. Only improvement I can suggest would be the beer selection.

There are only two things I order here: Blackjack burger medium rare half fries half onion rings and a Guinness. The burger is cooked with Cajun spices which really elevates the flavor profile. The Guinness is poured right. Enjoy.

R.F. O’ Sullivan’s is my pinnacle of comparison for all other burgers. Upon discovering a new burger I rate it on a scale of 1 to O’Sullivan’s. Yes indeed, they are THAT good. I challenge you to find me a better burger and until that day, Sully reigns as the King. A not so hidden gem located conveniently along Beacon Street in Somerville, O’Sullivan’s usually offers plenty of street parking out front. Space inside the pub is certainly more limited however, so do expect a wait for seating especially at peak lunch/dinner hours. The little burger cottage consists of a large bar in the middle with tables all around. My friends and I usually perch ourselves at the bar which offers a great view of the TV’s as well as the cooks manning the grill in the open kitchen area. The atmosphere is busy and somewhat noisy, but friendly and fun. O’Sullivan’s easily satisfies three very important needs of mine: Burgers, Bruins, and Beer. The menu consists of a varied selection of unique burger creations with catchy names including The Black and Blue(blue cheese and crushed black pepper), The Cape Codder(avocado and swiss), and The Northender(tomato sauce and mozzarella). There are other items on the menu besides the burgers and a friend of mine has raved about the fish and chips. I come here for the burgers only so I cannot comment any further beyond the amazing ½ pound, juicy beef patties. Remember to be patient as these burgers do take time to cook. The chefs are in view, so you can see them working hard to create their masterpieces. The waiting time passes even faster with a glass of Allagash or Stella on draught and an appetizer before the burger. The beer menu is short and simple, but seems to have something for everyone. Appetizers include classic pub fare such as buffalo tenders, potato skins, and nachos. The fries are sliced up in a super thick steak style; two fries basically consist of almost half a potato. The onion rings are large, golden brown, crispy, unforgettable and offered as a side with every burger. Leave your diet at home folks!

The burgers are solid, and they have a huge variety of options! The prices range from $ 10 – 13, and they give you the option for a side(fries, onion rings, ½ of each, or salad — but who chooses salad?). The meat patty is really thick and they really will make it how you want it. I’ve ordered burgers medium rare before that have come back well done — RF O’Sullivans will actually respect your request. I ordered the Sicilian(mm, pepperonis). The fries are really thick-cut and potato-y. Some people like more crunch in their fries, but I love fried potatoes in all their forms. Their beer menu isn’t super extensive, but they have a respectable selection of draft and bottles. I usually leave with my clothes and hair smelling like grease though. I guess that’s the downside of an open kitchen.

Bomb. Every time. The open grill and small room makes it super cozy, especially on a snowy winter night. Steak tips and caesar is my go too! The fish and chips with the cornmeal batter is to die for! Service is great and everything about the place is non pretentious! With all of the mixology craze it’s nice to keep it real!

Good townie Irish pub with decent food(mainly burgers) and beer list. I like the laid back vibe, definitely a good spot to grab a bite and watch the game. Nothing special though. I had the chili and chicken sub which were okay. My boyfriend had the burger(which I should have tried as well– that’s what this place is known for… it’s burgers) and said it was alright– nothing special which surprised me. I have heard they are amazing. All in all, a decent spot. Our waiter was fantastic which made the experience better than it would have been otherwise.

Really good burgers that’s local to me. Small quaint little pub that is just that. The hole in the wall where you go for a beer and a burger. Everything is rich mahogany wood and dark. This pub is purely fantastic. Great atmosphere, great feel, great waitress(Linda), and of course great food. Food– Appetizers: Potato skins, Buffalo chicken tenders. Meals: Cheddar & Onion, Black & Bleu, J.D., Plain, and Blackjack burgers. Everything was either good or great. Basically the appetizers were good, they did their job, and the burgers were great. They have so many choices and each has its own unique personality and flavor. No doubt I’ll be at this place many more times in the future to eat more burgers. And thank you to our super friendly waitress, Linda.

Medium rare is the only way to eat a burger and mine was cooked juuuust right at RF O’Sullivans & Son. The J.D. burger(w/mushrooms and the works added) was juicy, delicious and satisfying. Went great with my lemony beer, whatever it was(Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy?). Totally game to come back and try their more interesting looking burger choices — extensive burger menu! You can order half fries and half onion rings. The onion rings weren’t overly greasy and the batter was flavorful with the perfect amount of crisp. Fries are cut into long, and very thick wedges — not my favorite style of fry but the onion rings kept me happy. Also tried the sweet potato fries — a must! Perfect texture, perfect flavor. On the pricier side and you can’t substitute it for your normal fries or onion rings with your burger — an extra $ 6 – 7 as a side. Full restaurant on a Tuesday night so we opted for the bar. Small space. Good service. Good beer. Street parking available if you’re not walking. Great spot for beer and burger night!

Five stars for burgers. Hands down the best burger anywhere. They use fresh meat, not frozen, and grill it to order, which can take a long time but is worth the wait. Lots of reviews on Unilocal about the burgers so I won’t elaborate. 2 – 3 stars for anything else on the menu. Grilled tuna sandwich, meh. Fish and chips, batter is too thick. Fries are huge, Texas style steak fries, not my favorite cut as I find this cut mealy. Salads are plain iceburg with cellophane tomatoes. Everything on the menu that I’ve ordered is simply sad, and I find myself regretting that I didn’t order a burger. You can’t go wrong with the burgers, but everything else is disappointing.
