Small little restaurant in Somerville and it is quite easy to overlook when you walking or driving on Main St. I wanted to thank my friend Karthik who actually found and recommended the place. The first thing that caught my eye about this place were the lunch prices. I will post pictures of the menu but the best deal out there was the«Any 3 Roll for $ 9.95» + soup and salad. With this kind of price, I expected the sushi to be average tasting and not the best quality. However, the soup was hot and tasted really good(not watered down miso soup) and the salad and the dressing was on point. When the sushi arrived I was even more impressed. The pieces of sushi weren’t made smaller just because it was lunch time and most important of all it tasted amazing. It was one of the better tasting sushi I have had and for the price it was an unbeatable experience. I will definitely be back because the quality of the food for the price you pay cannot be matched anywhere else! ~ Stanley

In town on business so I thought I’d give it a try based on the Unilocal feedback… and boy were they right! Sat at the bar & was greeted by both chef & server immediately. Looked over the menu & went w an order of shumai & a few rolls. While I waited, the chef whipped up a sashimi dish for me – on the house. Very tasty! The food came in no time at all & the rolls were very good. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars & not 5 was the overall appearance has a «greasy diner» appeal on the inside, but that would not deter me from coming back again when on business.

Can’t beat their prices or quality in Somerville. Always quick and kind. There’s a reason this place is rated the best.

A small place but warm and great service… and most importantly, outstanding food for the money. Highly recommended!

Yokohama has the best lunch specials in the area, and you can get a 2⁄3 roll special or a lunch box, all of which are pretty cheap and come with soup and salad. The staff is always friendly and attentive and it’s a nice option that’s usually not overcrowded. Came back today and the 2 roll special is $ 6.95 and 3 roll is $ 9.95 which is great. I got a chicken teriyaki lunch box for $ 6.95 which came with chicken teriyaki, vegetables, rice, shumai, and a California roll(as well as the soup and salad beforehand). Amazing deals without question!

Well I was so excited to try this place but when I called to place an order from work the lady on the phone said, «How big is the order?» I said 3 meals” she said«we are too busy for a small order. You can come and pick it up.» But if it were a bigger order I’m sure it would be no problem 1st of all I work in the local hospital and I know another department just ordered and it was a huge order. So what is the difference, they were coming here anyway. Well too bad for them because they lost a potential good customer. I am also glad I didn’t order because it is now over an hour and they are still not here with the other departments order. I will NOT ever go here!

Don’t let the outward appearance of the restaurant fool you! This is a no fuss, BYOB with amazing food. The staff are friendly, there is never a wait and the sushi is so fresh. A MUST in Somerville!

I definitely prefer Yokohama to the other sushi places in town. I’ve never had to wait for a table, and service is extremely quick. There’s nothing too special about the atmosphere, but if you’re just looking to get something quick and head out, its great. BYOB too, so that’s always a plus!

A little too ambitious with their offerings and the food and quality is mediocre. They should try and hone in on things they do right, up the quality and see where it takes them. We went here once, no desire to return.

My favorite sushi spot in Somerville. Atmosphere isn’t the best except at the sushi bar, but the food is exceptional.

My fiancé and I order from Yokahama literally 1−2x/week. We have never been dissappointed, the prices are MORE than reasonable, and the food is AMAZING. The fish is beyond FRESH. This is a real deal AWESOME sushi place. We do not even bother considering anything else, and their delivery time is fast, the orders are always accurate, never once has a mistake been made, and the delivery drivers are very pleasant. We literally love everything about Yokahama and have eaten sushi in hundreds of places from NY to Miami.

We continue to make our weekly visit to Yokohama, but today revealed two new Tuna creations, I just had to share. First, the Crazy Tuna was Crazy Good! This is now my son’s favorite(replacing the always popular Ninja Roll). Second, Kiss of Fire. Pepper Tuna, Avocado, Sriracha and Jalapeño. If you like spicy, this is a good roll to try. Our standby favorites, Teka Don, Miso and Ginger Salad were as good as always. Well done!

I expected too much this place when I went it 2nd times. Food is not that great and employees are really rude. specially when I went my self… I did not order only one lunch special. ordered over 30 bucks at the lunch my self… the miso soup is terrible and does not taste miso at all. kani mango salad is does not taste as well. Salmon teriyaki is ok but California roll is already dried … I will not come back again and ever.

I love trying new places for sushi and now that I am in love with Kani salads, I figured I give a brand new place a shot. This place isn’t that far from me plus kinda on my way home from work so why not. Walking it, it seems like the back entrance is more common than the front. In the thirty minutes I was there I didn’t see anyone else enter through the front door. Interesting. I’m not sure if they have parking back there but I wish I knew in advanced. Prob should have read some reviews first. The restaurant itself is small with about 7 tables and many bar seats. But do not let the look of this place turn you away! The food is beyond delicious for a great price. I order a miso soup, Kani salad, Philly roll, and shrimp tempura roll for $ 13. What a deal, below average of what I’m use to spending. So that definitely is a plus. Also the staff is beyond nice and super attentive! The miso soup had plenty of contents in it. Plenty of tofu and seaweed. There was a bit of scallions. The seaweed was really good. Didn’t taste stale which is normally the issue. I was fishing for it haha. The Kani salad was good, not the best I had only because the cucumbers have more of a bite to it then normal. But I loved how the tempura flakes were within the Kani salad. So mix it up to get all the flavors going. It was delicious. The Philly roll oh my gosh, hard to get it right since it’s so simple but this was reference. Perfect fort ion of cream cheese to salmon. Oh my. And at $ 3.95 per roll, I will become a regular slowly but surely haha. The shrimp tempura was good but too overwhelmingly big to put in your mouth at one time haha. All in all this place is great for sushi! Can’t wait to come back and try their special rolls!

Fresh Sushi, Friendly staff, amazing prices and an intimate atmosphere all tucked away for you to discover. I’ve been a patron at Yokohama for over 8 years and have never once been disappointed. The fish is always very fresh and the attention to detail is spot on. The sushi is less expensive than other sushi places in town and is an amazing deal for the high quality. The staff always makes me and my friends feel welcome and at home. They always remember our orders and special requests which adds to the experience. Although the restaurant is small, I find it adds to the intimate feeling of this gem and allows you to enjoy your meal in peace away from the chaos of the other eateries on Main street. It is also BYOB! I would highly recommend Yokohama to anyone looking for a great meal at a great price from great people.

A rating of 2 ½ would be more appropriate. Came here as we were in the area and sought the advice of fellow Unilocalers. it was a flop. The positives: Front entrance is handicap friendly They have kids meal Waitress were friendly White ginger not pink Our order: yummy yummy, dragon eyes, philly, rainbow, yellow tail sashimi, kids meal, hot tea, and two soft drinks. The negatives: For starters the place was tiny but we don’t take points off for that since we have eaten at some hole in the wall joints which were amazing but unfortunately it wasn’t the case for this establishment. It didn’t seem clean, my cup was dirty and my shoes kept sticking to the floors. The tea was not hot, it was lukewarm at most and flavor was not great. The specials were listed on the walls behind us, we wondered why not put them in a menu insert as having to look back and squint to read them was annoying. The rolls themselves were ok, they weren’t anything that was out of this world with creatively just similar combinations that you find in any sushi restaurant in the tri state area. We were disappointed with the quality of the rice and the fish, it wasn’t inedible it just wasn’t a party in your mouth like other reviewers mentioned. The bill was $ 57.51.super expensive for mediocre sushi. We spend around $ 35 at our local sushi place with half price sushi, better quality and price. If anyone else knows Of a good sushi place when we are in the area visiting family, please let me know… and the search continues.

This is one of those«hole in the wall gems.» Best sushi I’ve ever had. You can taste the freshness of the sashimi. The raw fish actually has flavor. Their special rolls are some of the best I’ve ever had and are larger in portion size. Very casual dining but with 5 star food and reasonable prices. Parking is on the street.

Yokohama is delicious! I’ve hit a few rolls that I wasn’t a fan of, but overall they are great, and they Deliver! When we’re having a lazy day(which is often) we love to order Yokohama in. They always get our order right, and are prompt on the delivery. Thank you, Yokohama! Favorite Rolls: Yokohama Roll Sweet Heart Roll Also, their nagiri sushi is delicious! The sushi chefs are fun, and sweet. I’ll post a picture of our beautiful sushi plate.
