I first heard Crisp Bakeshop described as the source of the best wedding cake in the wine country. Because my family really cares about the taste of cake as well as how it looks, we thoroughly tested that recommendation and reached the same conclusion. I would expand the geographic area beyond the wine country. Andrea was easy to work with to schedule a tasting, estimate the size of the main cake and cupcakes we needed, complete the other details of the order, and arrange for the delivery. With some other bakeries, even the initial tasting process was unduly complicated. Although I would have chosen Crisp anyway, the pricing was very reasonable. Andrea provided an assortment of foods for the bridal room for the day of the wedding which was excellent as well.

Found Crisp by accident just by driving by and noticed the outdoor tables and caught the sign. Came back after my carwash for a bite to eat. Ordered the ham and cheese croissant heated for here and a crystallized ginger scone and latte to go. The croissant came out warmed through and super crispy on the outside. Yummy with the right amount of ham and cheese so that they didn’t overwhelm the flavor of the buttery croissant. Latte is tasty, nice flavor of the espresso. Will have to report back on the scone as I am saving it for later. Cute and eclectic mix of seating inside with 3 smallish café tables outside. Wonderful assortment of baked goods to please almost anyone. Worth the stop and I will come back across town to visit again.

Wide variety of Yummy pastries and muffins. Good coffee too. Made a quick stop for Mother’s Day when everything else was full with long waits. Close to Sonoma Train town for the kids. Definitely a repeat when in town.

While spending a day in Napa, my sweet tooth kicked in. After looking at some places in the area on Unilocal,a friend and I decided to visit Crisp. I wish I would have saved my time, and $ 5.00. The woman working made you feel rushed to make a selection, not that there was much to choose from anyway. I chose a chocolate Easter themed cupcake, and my friend decided on the peanut butter Nutella cookie. The woman didn’t thank us, hand is a receipt, or even say goodbye. She rudely walked away from the counter and and into the room where another woman was making macaroons. The«Nutella» did not taste anything like Nutella. It tasted like unsweetened bakers chocolate– which is not something I’d want on my cookie. My friend threw hers away. I tried my cupcake, and I didn’t eat more than the first bite. The cake was flakey, it had obviously not be made fresh that day as it was super dry. The icing was stiff. So stiff, that when the cupcake fell over in its box you couldn’t tell. I threw my dessert away also. I hope someone saves themselves the time by reading this and not visiting this bakery. Unless you like rude service and way below standard baked goods, I think you’ll be disappointed.

My first experience with crisp was not good. I am happy to say there has been a turnaround of staff, and the service has improved tremendously. Staff is so much friendlier and actually offers smiles! Along with great goods.

Really inconsistent quality. I started going to this café because(1) it’s just beautiful décor-wise, they create such a comfortable but beautiful environment for relaxing, and(2) the first time I went, they made the best Matcha Latte I’ve ever tried. I used to hate Matcha, and this place made a believer out of me — it was perfect. Not to bitter, layered with milk, and absolutely creamy. However, it’s just gotten worse every time I’ve gone. The second time I visited, it was made differently, so that it wasn’t layered but mixed completely, and much more strong — which was fine, but I liked the original style. And the last time I visited, a few days ago, I got the drink shown in my second photo — extremely dark, filled with clumps of unmixed chalky green tea powder. The barista was very nice, and when I commented on it she offered to shake it up for me to break up the clumps. However, even after her efforts, the bottom was still filled with powder, which made the last ¼ of it difficult to drink(I kept sucking up bitter powder, which is pretty gross). I understand that Matcha isn’t a common ingredient, but if you’re going to offer it on the menu, please make sure that staff are trained in how to prepare it and that the execution is fairly consistent. Every time I’ve gone it’s been made differently, and the last time totally incorrectly. Since I fell in love with it here, I taught myself how to make Matcha Lattes at home, and it’s essential with Matcha that you whisk the powder in a small amount of water into a fine frothy liquid with no clumps before you mix it into a drink — you can’t just add the powder into a drink. It comes out clumpy and gross. Still a beautiful place, just needs some more consistent training I think.

Best cake for the best price from the best baker! We got married last May and had Andrea do our entire dessert table. The quality was top notch and it was cheaper than the other bakeries I considered, and less than having my caterer handle dessert. Andrea was awesome and worked great with both my caterer and florist to decorate the cake and set up the dessert table. We had tons of variety and everything was delicious. And let me just tell you about the cake tasting. 5 mini cakes, perfectly proportioned, and perfectly delicious. All of the flavors were so good – we were spoiled for choice! Everything was eaten at the wedding(including the little sweetheart box they made and left in our honeymoon suite). I can’t wait to buy another mini cake for our anniversary!

Not to over hype this place but just go early in the morning and stare at the counter for about a minute… Then take my advice and get the morning bun, almond croissant, the passion fruit macadamia nut pastry(not really the name), and maybe one savory item. This place is about as good as it gets and the nearest rival would probably have to be Tartane in SF or maybe Bovine Bakery in Point Reyes as it is the original Bovine as I recall. Don’t go here if you are training for a marathon, hiking up to Mt. Whitney, or doing a 65 mile bike ride on the American River bike trail. Actually, this could be your reward after completing any of the above and I will travel for a good pastry. They are that good!

As a chocolate chip cookie expert, I must say Crisp has the recipe down pat! One of the most delicious cookies I have ever ordered, and I sample chocolate chip cookies everywhere I go. The light sprinkling of salt, the large flat chips of dark chocolate, the slightly crunchy outside and the soft luscious insides of this cookie are to die for! We go out of our way at times to reach Crisp before closing time. Someday I’ll even branch out and order some of the other sumptuous baked goods at Crisp, but for now, I just feed my addiction to this cookie! My daughter did have cookies from Crisp at her dessert table for her wedding so I did nibble on several other varieties of their confections and they were all delectable.

Oh my god! Did a cake tasting yesterday and my fiancé and I were blown away by the quality of these cakes! I’m nervous for the other bakeries we’re tasting at — this will be a hard act to follow! And I can definitely say that I will be driving the 45 – 50 min to pick up cakes from here for birthdays from now on.

Great pastries. I’ve had the Ham and cheese croissant twice now. They are crusty and soft and has amazing flavor. Next time I want to try that big pizza! But unfortunately the lattes leave a little something to be desired. I am not sure what happened but both of lattes we had, tasted like weak tea. I didn’t feel like bothering them to remake. Next time I will just try the coffee but I was pretty disappointed :(I still have hope lol Love the cute little shop with the long bench in the dining area. And the open window into the kitchen is nice as well.

Great pastries and tasty coffee at an expensive price; anyone that lives in Sonoma knows that renting space is far from cheap, so the higher prices should be a no brainer. The service has always been prompt and the staff has never mistreated me. When I go out to eat, I want to get what I pay for, and here I do. I can’t relate to what some people are claiming about the staff, about them being rude or about them looking unhappy at work, but having worked in customer service for a long time, I’m aware that it isn’t for anyone. You can take a persons order, get it right, and still have a person cry about how they weren’t treated with enough respect. Divos and Divas beware, if you’re paying to feel special, perhaps you should be seeking out another service elsewhere, or find a cheaper way of gaining praise; like Facebook, it don’t cost a thing except precious time.

We used Crisp for our wedding cake for our 10⁄24 wedding. We ordered a 2-tier naked wedding cake, about 4 months prior to our event. Andrea was quick to respond, and was very easy to make arrangements with via email. Unfortunately they were unable to accommodate delivery due to being booked, but my Man of Honor was able to pick the cake up pretty easily. The cake was absolutely gorgeous — it was what I wanted and more for our big day. The only thing it lacked was a bit more flavor in the frosting, we got alternating layers of vanilla and sea salt caramel buttercream, but all of the frosting tasted the same to us, we couldn’t distinguish the two flavors as we had in the tasting cakes. Other than that, it was perfect, and I suppose wedding cakes are more for looks anyhow. It definitely held up in the near 80 degree heat. Pictures coming soon!

We were so happy with our cakes from Crisp! We couldn’t decide on one of their delicious flavors for our wedding cake, so instead we elected to have three smaller cakes, all three different flavors! I loved the idea of three different cakes, there would be something for everyone! We chose Lemon Verbena, Chocolate/Pomegranate Chip, and Browned Butter(my fave!) The cakes turned out beautifully, but not only did they look great, they tasted even better! Our guests had nothing but good things to say about the cakes, and we were lucky enough to be able to take home some home with us to enjoy after the wedding! I would not hesitate to recommend Crisp, Andrea was very helpful and professional… we will definitely be ordering another cake for our anniversary, if not sooner! The only problem will be picking which flavor! Thanks Crisp, for being a part of our special day!

Crisp Bakeshop did an amazing job with our wedding cake and our dessert table assortment. Our guests could not stop raving at how delicious the lemon verbena cake was. I just wished I wasn’t so distracted that I could have eaten more. Looking forward to having the frozen top tier next year. :) Thank you Crisp Bakeshop for making our perfect day even sweeter!

I’ve wanted to like this place, but it is definitely hit or miss. –I would avoid the cake unless you like Crisco frosting, because on the slices of cake I tried – that is what they serve. The cookies and croissants are okay, but I once had a strawberry shortcake bit with crystallized ginger in it that made me spit it out.

This brief review is for the brown butter cake that we had before my son’s birthday. It was completely delightful and I would certainly recommend it for anybody in the future. The icing was sweet and creamy and the cake itself was soft and yummy. Looking forward to returning for more.

This place is incredibly hit or miss. Some stuff was great, some stuff was inedible. On the inedible front: the sea salt chocolate chip cookie – this was disgusting. I took one bite and spit it out. It tasted like pure salt. I don’t think this is that hard to execute decently and this was just awful. The sandwich cookies were decent. The brownie was tasty and moist. The bread pudding was good but I wished that I would have had it heated with some kind of sauce. The coffee was mediocre. This place is fine, I guess. Just don’t get a chocolate chip cookie :(

Oh my… the morning bun was –AWESOME !!! HEAVENLY!!! Even better than that of the famous Tartine in San Francisco. True to the bakeshop’s name, the morning bun was crisp in the outside with chewy goodness in the inside. I was on my way for a day hike in Sugarloaf Ridge in Kenwood this morning and decided to stop by Crisp and thank goodness I did; the pastries and coffee made my day. I was indeed a happy hiker :) The coffee was one of the best I had in a while(my coffee intake is 7 cups a day). I also got this brioche pastry which honestly was comparable or even better than Bouchon’s.My only regret was on my way back I was thinking of picking up more morning buns but I guess they close early on a Sunday. Well, maybe some other time as the place is worth the drive … One more note, the bathroom was super clean and maybe one of my most comforting bathroom moments hhaahaaaa. Oh, and this makes a second note, the air plant frame on the wall was interesting and gave a natural and fresh feel.

This was our first stop on our visit to Sonoma and for a variety of reasons. I wanted to try Equator Espresso, which I heard they served. I had also read about their pastries, so I decided on the Chocolate Chunk Sea Salt, Oatmeal Dried Blueberry and Peanut Butter and Nutella Blossoms, which were all really good. I also ordered their chocolate croissant as well. We arrived kind of late, so our selections were a bit limited. However, our selections were delicious. Cute little bakery, the décor is cool and there are both café style seating, as well as casual soft seating. The staff were very friendly and helpful for us first-timers. I’ll definitely have to return, but earlier in the morning on our next trip.
