Oh my gosh… Had the best corn beef ever here this weekend. And the music was great. Michael Mullen was there with his amazingly talented fiddle playing, guitar and singing, using live looping to bring together Celtic and rock for an entertaining night out with friends.

I sat here for more 15 minutes, no service, in bar and bar tender was more interested in pictures with tiny bobber chicks then asking me if I wanted even a water… horrible experience, worst bar I have ever been too in years, do t go here, go to jack in the box over this experience!!!

Discovered Murphy’s down a sweet little alley off the plaza after Tuesday’s Farmers Market. We were greeted by our server and ordered a Reuben and the classic fish and chips paired with a Guinness. Having been to Ireland twice I’m pretty well versed in Irish Pub fare but this exceeded my expectations. Perfect pour on our Guinness and the both the fish and chips and Reuben tasted great. The service was fast and attentive and the live music was also a plus. Will definitely be back!

I live in Sonoma, and recently we met up with some friends, and were looking for a quick bite to eat on a Tuesday night. We decided on Murphy’s, which we have often enjoyed, although not for some time. What a disaster: slow service, terrible food, and loud music. We got a table for six in the back room and settled down for some good craic(Gaelic for conversation). The waiter was prompt in taking our drink order, and left menus. He returned after a reasonable time with our beverages and took our order. While we were waiting for our food, one of my friends said, «It looks like there’s going to be music.» And she was right. There were two kids at our table, and we were there to talk, not shout over the band. I thought that the waiter should have mentioned that there was going to be live music when he seated us, especially since it was not the weekend. Unfortunately there were no other tables available for the six of us. Once the music started, conversation became impossible; and the band didn’t take a break until we left. Dinner did not arrive for an hour, and when it came only four meals were served. It took another ten minutes for the other two dinners to arrive. No explanations, no excuses, no apology. The table next to us enjoyed two leisurely rounds of drinks, paid their bill, and left before our food came. When the food did arrive it was what I refer to as drunk fare, the kind of food that’s designed to satiate the intoxicated. Two of the grilled cheese sandwiches were burned, and two of the people who ordered fish and chips got sick later that night. The corned-beef Reuben was an over-priced, greasy joke, a couple of pieces of corned beef, some cheese, and a tiny amount of sauerkraut. A $ 13 rip off. This used to be a great place for locals with good food, service and beverages, and I believe in supporting local businesses, but I can not recommend Murphy’s based on my experience there.

My boyfriend and I stopped by for a quick lunch on our way to the coast. We decided to have a couple beers and split a burger. We ordered the Murph burger, which was $ 12. When the burger arrived… well… It was the world’s most expensive slider. It fit in the palm of my hand. We each pretty much got 2 bites of the burger and it was gone. Ridiculous for that much money and it would have been nice to get a heads up that it wasn’t big enough to split.

We stopped by here to grab lunch after some vineyard tours. They had just initiated a new menu the day we happened to eat there. The new menu had several unique and tasty food options on it. We sat outside on the patio since it was such a nice sunny afternoon. The service unfortunately that day was not so great. Our server seemed disengaged and not very helpful. I blame part of that on him having to wait on what looked like more tables than he could handle. Then when he brought out our check it had items on it that we did not purchase, thus having to wait another 15 minutes for us to get that straightened out. The food was decent. I would give it a try. Perhaps they have worked some of the kinks out.

Stopped by today for lunch. Was pleasantly surprised with their new menu. I love curry chicken salads and they happened to have it in their menu! Started with the Duck Wings holy smokes the sauce is killer! And of course had to have their Frickles! Not disappointed at all! Lunch I had the Curry salad and it was delicious, had a little spice to it but the sweet raisins cut it down. Wish I had brought more friends with me so I could have tried a few more of their new lunch items! Must come back to do so. :-)

What would you do if the barman brought you a pint of Murphy’s or Guinness that had a head as thin as. well. non-existent? This was my dilemma here. Most occasions I suck it up and say ah well, you’ll never enjoy the creamy richness of a good Guinness stout. Unless you return to Dublin! But this was almost an embarrassment to the establishment. Long story short, I kept my Guinness to save face, while the Frenchman returned his Murphy’s. Both of us having lived in Ireland a few years we know a good pint versus when to say eh me thinks not! The Unilocal deal upon check-in was 50% off a pint. Was this a forewarning? Drinks aside, we ordered the jalapeño poppers to start along with the fish & chips to share. I have no idea what those things were, but they were not jalapeño poppers. They were jalapeño’s, yes. The cream cheese had a reddish-yellow tint because of the roasted pepper. Can cream cheese be dry? This one was. The sausage? Dry. What is gremolata? They should have just called them jalapeño gremlins. We did not finish the appetizer. I figured well, we’re already sinking so it couldn’t get much worse. I mean what could one do with fried fish and french fries? By the Lords good grace, the fish was edible and actually pretty good. The fries on the other hand, were obviously pre-frozen. Guys! You live in California. Unless I am dining at a big-name-chain restaurant you should have fresh cut potatoes. Especially at an Irish pub. In the end, the element that made me run was the dirty window behind my back. I’d chosen a seat near the window to enjoy the light. Little did I know there was a colossal web of dead spider leftovers sitting there. Isn’t it always you see these things after you’ve eaten. From what I learned the original owner, Mr. Murphy sold the lot not long ago. ‘Tis a shame. I wonder what it was like while he was owner.

Murphy’s Irish Pub is a cool spot located down a little pathway off of Sonoma Plaza. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a good beer selection, friendly service and a tasty Reuben sandwich. If you’ve had your fill of wine tasting, this is your place. Oh, and half off your first beer with a Unilocal check-in!

Murphy’s is a local blast. Everyone is super friendly. Truly I felt like I was in Ireland. Trivia night is great and the more you go the better. Don’t be afraid to go alone and hook up with another team! Right on the square of Sonoma, convenient. Love it!

It’s a fun Pub. Nice to get away from all the wine that is in this area. I was there for lunch and had myself corned beef Reuben it was exactly what I wanted. The bartenders were nothing but friendly and was really nice

Worst service, server forgot our order, took forever to get food, never received one of your appetizer, servicer know the folks sitting next to us and they received our food before us. Was not happy with service. Would not come back. I blame management for this. I give a negative review. Thank you for replying to my post but I disagree as the servicer told us she forgot to put in our appetizer order. She also said she forgot about putting in one of our beverage orders so I disagree with the kitchen being backed up/short staff as the ONLY issue result of our delay. The food took forever and service sucked. She never once told us the kitchen was short staff. The server knew the folks sitting at the table next to us and they received their food before us even though we were there before them. Yes you took off the appetizer we NEVER received from our bill and yes you took off $ 50 from our bill but this was not enough as I still paid over $ 100. We were celebrating my mother-in-law birthday dinner and this was the worst experience. When looking for dinner places at Sonoma square I do NOT recommend this place. There are so many other place with great food and better service.

Great atmosphere and drinks. Service was absolutely horrible and the food was not very good. Waitress ordered wrong food, never asked while we waited for the food about anything(WATER, BEERS), one dinner was risotto, not cooked very well. Risotto was hard. Corned beef came after all the other meals, all fat and tasted not so good. Maybe come back when they train their restaurant staff better. I would not eat here again, period. Moving on

Tucked away in an alley off the central square, Murphy’s was another enjoyable dinner during our mini honeymoon. The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, and we were very happy with the beer selection. Smoking is allowed on the small patio, including right outside the main door, so if someone is smoking out there, as they were our night, it’s difficult to get away from the smoke.

We recently took a group of 10 to dinner on a Sunday night and had a great time! We had kids in our group and the staff was super friendly to all of us, brought the kids drinks first and took great care of our party. We ate a great amount of food, all was totally delicious, had great cocktails, which by the way the new cocktail menu is pretty awesome, live music while were eating was a perfect addition. We will be back soon!

This place used to be really good a few years back, then someone new bought it and drove it straight into the ground. I guess you cant eff up Jameson or Lagunitas, but the food and service are wildly inconsistent. Every town has to have a requisite Irish Bar, this one is just a bit of a downer unless you’re already on your way to getting wasted.

I used to love Murphy’s but today… The minuscule«Pub Burger»(aka Slider)… Waiter said that I should have ordered the«Murph Burger» which is not on the menu. Or their«Market Burger» which was Turkey today…

Pros: Rotating selection of unique beer(always including a cider). Reuben sandwich was really well balanced and the corned beef was delicious. I ordered a cup of coffee at the end of our meal and the waitress realized the coffee had been on the burner for a while and made me a fresh pot without me asking. Cons: We must have sat at our inside table for 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged by our waitress. She had to handle the entire inside area by herself and was overwhelmed. The fries were also different than what has been pictured in other reviews, and not in a good way(I’m thinking frozen?)
