I love this place but when I got. charged $ 8 for a bean and rice burrito for my daughter I thought it was over the top. That’s what they charge for fully loaded meat burritos. Seems unfair and too pricey. I hate arbitrary pricing schemes designed to enrich the restaurant owner and not benefit the customers. Tacos are good a la carte.

My friends and I decided to stop in for dinner one night. We typically eat at one of the other restaurants down the road but decided on La Hacienda on this warm Saturday evening. When we walked in the restaurant was 80% full. We were seated immediately in a booth and handed menus. However, at that point, no one was looking at anything but the four televisions mounted high on the walls. There were 10 minutes left in the Warriors playoff game, forks were down and all eyeballs were focused on the screens. Patrons were cheering, clapping and having a great time. It was a great atmosphere for Warriors fans(one of my friends is a Lakers fan) and the wait staff was very understanding with all of us needing just a few more minutes to place our orders. I ordered a shrimp burrito, straying from my usual order of an enchilada and taco combination. The burrito was HUGE and full of vegetables and sweet shrimp without being overloaded with rice and beans. It was quite delicious but a bit on the heavy side. This portion was more than enough for two people. One friend ordered the chorizo and eggs(cleaned the plate), another had enchiladas(no comments) and the other friend ordered the fried fish(fish was on the dry side but was okay when mixed with salsa). I also ordered an aqua de Jamaica, the hibiscus tea. It was not too sweet and very refreshing. There is a salsa bar near the door. I did not find the«hot» salsa all that hot but the options were tasty and well seasoned. The menu is quite extensive and some dishes come with pictures. There were dishes I don’t typically see or see often. They have their own parking lot so parking is not an issue. Prices were very reasonable. Service was efficient and helpful. They have a full bar.

I always loved this place but today everything changed. I ordered pollo con arroz and I was so hungry because I’m pregnant but I found a facial hair in my food which disgusted me like crazy! Never going back.

I visit friends in Sonoma(and have spent the last 35 years visiting here) and recently looked into certain ethnic restaurants, including Mexican, specifically for Tamales. This was one of many I researched and three I landed on. Pros: * The MINUTE we walked in Monday at about 6:00pm in June) the door we were greeted. * We sat at the bar and were promptly attended to. * Boom! Cutlery, warm THIN chips(need salt, but that you can control, yea!), two salsas(yummy), water. * We came for Margaritas, ordered the Organic(only because I can’t stand bottled mix). Excellent. Had a second, but Top Shelf, $ 3.00 cheaper(and the waitress warned me it was not lime juice and Agave, she was RIGHT). Waaay too sweet, but still good and Tamales. * Service — excellent. * I don’t eat that much, so ordered a fish taco(Bass) and a small guac($ 2.99). It IS small, but good and perfect amount. * My friend ordered the Tamale and Enchilada with rice and beans and a little coleslaw. I tasted the Tamale(chicken). Good. Lots of cheese on the top. Sauce yummy. * They were on us like a tick. GREATSERVICE! Almost TOO fast! But they don’t bother you! * Love the size of the place. Booths, tables, bar seating and outside(right on the road, though). Festively appointed. Liked the murals/paint. Very colorful. Large windows, Lots of light. * Lots of to-go customers. * Parking lot HUGE. * Vibe is they all like working there. Floor staff engaging. Course, so am I, so that helps! * Prices good. Organic Marg pricey. * Choice of «meat» for all dishes amazing!!! * «Salsa bar» at the front door wonderful. * Remember«Sides» on the back of the menu if you are not a big eater! It gets lost with the large drink menu. * The staff rocks!!! The service is immediate. The food is not the«best» Mexican fare in Sonoma, it is GOOD, HOT, and served with a great attitude, in a great atmosphere. * Show ‘em your love!!! Cons: * Not yet.

I like la hacienda because I like the kids plate and it is really good because they serve like a side of chicken or steak and you can get a side of rice and beans so it’s really good. The drinks are marvelous.

We were driving through Sonoma on our way back to Sacramento and needed nourishment. The reviews were high so we decided to give it a try. We both had fish tacos. Excellent. The atmosphere was nice, the staff was friendly. And the food came quickly. I definitely recommend.

This was our second time to Taqueria La Hacienda, and we absolutely loved it. I cannot vouch for all the menu items, but I will say that the chile verde is excellent: succulent pork bathed in a tangy and flavorful green chile sauce, that is absolutely popping with tomatillo flavor. And the carnitas is an absolute wonder. Crispy, porky and still succulent, it is among the best carnitas I have ever had. Super-fast service. monstrous dinner portions, and a full bar too!

This place has excellent salsa(and chips). Their food is very good — I liked everything I’ve tried(tacos, enchiladas, tamales) and they have delicious mole!

This was my second visit to La Hacienda, this time on a Tuesday night rather than a weekend. We arrived at 7pm and the restaurant was half full. Let me say that if you are a first timer — do NOT believe the photos in the menu! They are not all accurate. And this is why… I decided to go vegetarian this visit and ordered the Veggie Enchilada Plate. On the menu, it looked great and the enchilada was a pretty good size. What arrived on my plate was a very wimpy enchilada, filled with 1 small piece of cauliflower and 1 small piece of broccoli. Seriously? The enchilada was the size of my index finger, about an inch in diameter. Then the rest of my plate was filled(more than half of the plate) with very bland pinto beans. No spices, nothing. A small corner of the plate had a scoop of pretty good Spanish rice. When I ordered, I asked for an order of guacamole. The server brought me a tiny plastic cup — yes plastic — of a teaspoon of guacamole. I asked her to bring me a full size order, which she did, then she proceeded to charge me $ 6.50 for the regular portion and 2.99 for the extra tablespoon in the plastic cup. Not a good experience. I won’t be going back.

Recommended by worker at BR Cohn. Food did not disappoint. Delicious Mexican food. Super Burrito was amazing and for only $ 7…are you kidding. They could charge twice that and it would still be a great deal. Portions are large but taste is even better. Highly recommend it, will be back next visit to Sonoma.

Having moved out of The Valley, I have reconsidered and am giving another star. We haven’t found anyplace near our new digs that compares.

After living in Sonoma the last two years now and ordering from Hacienda to-go nearly 100 times, I have to say they deserve the 5* review and then some. They crank out massive volume and a consistent product. Always prompt and polite service. This is your no frills I just want a burrito type of place, but it is certainly high quality and tasty. Friendly staff and people dining there always having a good time! They could fix their parking lot light that shines right info my bedroom window though :)

Thinking this restaurant caters to the locals. One of my close friends is a resident of Sonoma and often raves about the food. I’m not sure if I happen to come at an «off» time, perhaps it was the hot weather, but, graciousness was lost on these employees and it is something I can not over look. I walked in to dine with two friends and we were told to find a spot to sit. When the server came to our table she barely made eye contact with us to ask what we would like to drink… there were a total of 4 servers that interacted with our table(seems that they share tasks), and only one was friendly and courteous(the one that asked if we wanted anything else before bringing our tab). I am big on manner and always say please and thank you; this was lost on the staff at the restaurant. The food was meh… I ordered fish tacos; they were nothing special. grilled white fish with pico de gallo added to the corn torillas. My dining companions ordered the steak fajitas and the other the carnitas. Both looked dry and like they had been made yesterday and reheated. I’m also big on salsa and the red salsa tasted like pace picante sauce to me. Not a huge fan, next time I will just wait to get back to Santa Rosa(and head to Roseville) for my Mexican food fix.

This is our«Go To» restaurant for Mexican food. We probably get here once a week for the last several years. We usually get«to go» because we have too much to do. Dummy me, I’m too busy with family to do a Unilocal review until now. I can not say enough good things. The food is GREAT, the prices are fair, the service almost always fantastic, and their people are truly beautiful. ‘Buff said? One more important thing: the outside seating is very dog pretends. Our dawg, «Diesel», loves the Macho Burrito de Carnitas — he puts his head on my knee until I share! One less important thing: I wonder if they let wine growers & vintners bring their own wine?

Taqueria La Hacienda is one of many family style Mexican diners in Boyes Hot Springs. I had eaten there once before and enjoyed it. So yesterday, after a lovely couple of days in Sonoma, I decided to give it another try. My friend and I stopped in for an early lunch, the colorful dining room was fairly empty at noon, but gradually livened up. I ordered the combo #17, a chicken enchilada and tamale with rice, beans and salad. It was solid — very tasty without any surprises. My friend ordered the chicken tortilla soup — a standout dish on a wintry wine country day. He ordered a cup rather than the bowl and was more than satisfied with the hearty helpings of chicken, freshly sliced avocado, and therapeutic broth — which had just the right amount of kick to keep the snuffles at bay. Highly recommend as an alternative to pricier Sonoma dining options once you have had your fill of gourmet wine country fare.

Bambie & me had a big satisfying dinner on a Friday 6:00pm. The place was packed. People standing at the door waiting for tables. Room is noisy, lively, full of happy families. If you’re spending too much time alone and want to feel social, this place will satisfy. Food: We had combo plates. Vegetable burrito($ 8.99) with sides for Bambie, chile Colorado($ 11.25) for me. Plate portions, huge. Flavor, good. Americanized, not spicy, Mexican cuisine. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Though the whole pinto beans need more salt and maybe a touch of oregano as they are bland. Rice was on the stove a little too long, started to congeal. Flour tortillas were tasty. Flan tasted home made. House margarita = $ 6.50(though I barely tasted nor felt much tequila). Service: Ultra-fast. Our server was gracious & happy enough. And she was way overworked by the capacity crowd. Dining room: Colorful. Brightly painted furniture. Cheerful. Bathroom: Spotless. Survey the Unilocal reviews. Lots of 5 stars and a few 2 stars. So the food & service may vary because of who is on duty. During my visit, the owner was watching the operation like a hawk. Probably all the star performer employees were working. I’m sure that’s why the place was cranking smoothly. Conclusion: I don’t agree with other Unilocalers who declare this place serves the best Mexican cuisine in the Sonoma Valley, but the food is better than average. And if you like to eat in busy places with lots of hoopl’a, come on in.
