Gold Rush Nursery

Gold Rush Nursery is amazing. Nicky has the ability to grow gorgeous, healthy plants, at reasonable prices, with no damaging pesticides. Her horticultural knowledge is impeccable and her plants are far more appealing than those of many other nurseries. She and her staff are very customer service oriented. Highly recommended!

We recently took advantage of the Santa Clara Valley water district rebate program to redo our front and back yard. We chose to get our native plants from Gold Rush Nursery, and we couldn’t be happier about this decision. Gold Rush has a large selection of healthy natives at very reasonable prices. Gold Rush is a beautiful nursery in Soquel, definitely worth a visit. The best part about Gold Rush, though, is the owner, Nicky Hughes. Nicky is very knowledgeable and made many valuable suggestions for plant selection for our particular site. She delivered the plants to our home in Sunnyvale, coordinating her timing with the gardeners so that the plants arrived just when they had finished the prep work and were ready to plant. She asked if I wanted help placing the plants (Yes, please!) and then spent 2+ hours picking just the right spot for each plant, considering sun, shade, and how the plants fit together to create a natural looking garden. The result already looks wonderful, and I’m sure as they grow and get established I wil be happier still.
Don’t feel daunted by the fact that Gold Rush is over the hill if you live in Santa Clara or San Mateo counties. It is worth the drive to visit, get inspired by the gardens and plants, and to meet Nicky and her beautiful Golden Retrievers. Delivery of the plants is VERY reasonable, too.
