I’ve always wanted to come here, wanting to support a local business. However before I even got a chance to see what their restaurant was all about I saw the owner and employees bashing an ex employee online. This employee had done nothing but bring them great service and ton a of free advertisement, I mean she’s the reason I wanted to check the place out! And I still would have had her boss not been so prudish and unprofessional spouting threats on social media, and I quote «You continue to slander my business… I will have your fucking ass in court… by the way if you were doing your job… you would still be there… you wanna be ROCKSTAR!» How dare she belittle someone for being a great mom and chasing their dreams! I’m ashamed and disappointed that a local business could not… WOULD not help out this single mom by letting her be home too take care of her sick son! I do not want to support that and I would hope others around here feel the same.

Super amazing burgers. Always perfectly done, always tasty, great size, good price, just all around good. I wouldn’t eat here though… Bar is smoking and a dive. But call in and pick it up… Absolutely! Very good food.

I came her with some friends last Wednesday because I heard they had 35 cent wings on Wednesday. That’s enough for me. We called ahead and ordered. The bar tender was rude to my friend on the phone, so they lose points for that. The wings were decent. I especially enjoyed the honey mustard ones. The fries, on the other hand, were flavorless. I had to season them myself when I got home. Next time I’ll just get the wings or Becky burger.

Best burgers in South Bend. Bartenders are very friendly. An all around great local place that’s got a lot of character and great prices for the delicious food you get! The ideal South Bend dive bar.

Decent enough bar for a newbie, but if you have been around for a while, like most bars bars near downtown, it is kinda hit or miss, depending on who is there, or who isn’t. Place won best burger a few years ago, {I voted for them}, but something seems to have changed. Maybe it’s just me, but the same 24 stooges seem to haunt the place all of the time, and the melodrama of the help gets tiring. The owner is really cool, and makes super holiday dishes, as well as great gratis Friday foodstuffs after 5. One never knows what level of patron is there any nite, but overall the place is fairly safe and the food overall palatable. We used to call it the bottomfeeder, as they used to close the latest of all the local bars, so one could circle back after visiting all the other places, and see what flotsam or jetsam is awash on a stool. Not a place to go on a dinner date, but cool for brews and burgers. A real slice of South Bend nightlife. P. S. Thank you Parkview for being a smoking establishment. A bar should be a smoker friendly place, and if you don’t like get lost. I burn my fall leaves also, so all you whiners can bite me!

I walked into this bar with some friends and was immediately greeted not by a hostess, but by a blanket of cigarette smoke. I quickly remembered I had come in to eat a meal and my brain told me to «get out fast». To the places credit the wait staff was very nice, but we decided to stay and have a drink and a spray of cigarette cologne instead. Even though they might have a great burger, I wouldn’t be caught dead eating it. Also, there was a crack head out behind the restaurant who added to the ambiance of the place. If you like smoking dirts, this is your place.

I love the view especially on Tuesdays for the burger special! But the grown up grilled cheese is awesome too! The bartender sue is THE best!!! I try to come when she’s working! So nice and friendly to everyone she meets!

«Best burger in town» is no understatement! Especially when there on special on Tuesdays complimented with draft pitcher specials!!! Ask for Sue! She’s the best bartender in town!

I highly recommend the Becky Burger and the Chicken & Dumpling Soup. The burgers are as legendary as Kim Carter… The greatest bartender on the planet!!! We Love this place!

Came in for lunch and had a Becky Burger. It was delicious! I could only eat half of it and had to take the rest home for later. Kim was behind the bar and she was great!

Potentially the best burger in south bend, and a shout outto our waitress April for the awesome service.
I will return to try the award winning Becky Burger, but kept simple with a double cheeseburger. Very very tasty.

I have been coming here for years, especially on Tuesday nights, I love the way they treat you like family, Cassie goes the extra mile to make sure you are taken care of.

This place is legit!!! Mixed feelings at first because we saw they had won best burger in northern Indiana, but had lower reviews on Unilocal because of the smoking. We decided to at least drive by and the outside seating had us convinced to stay. I can’t handle smoke and it is smokey.
I ordered the award winning «Becky» burger with fries and my husband had the «homicide» burger with fries. They cut the burgers in half so we were able to share a half each. We each liked our own orders the best. The Becky is worthy of an award. The blend of ingredients makes it one of those rare burgers that needs no ketchup. The fries were great too. All natural and perfectly cooked. None of that skinny crap, or frozen potato paste you’d expect from a semi-​hole in the wall place. Nope! This place is legit.
Service was great too! We will be back but only during the summer so we can sit outside or until Indiana enacts smoking bans. Then I’ll make this a 5 star review.

The burger was delicious but I can’t give it 5 star because my call in order was not correct. I ordered a single cheeseburger with fries and I was craving fries. I received a double cheeseburger with kettle chips. If going off the taste and flavor of the burger it would get 5 star. It was so big I ate it in two days but very delicious.

If you appreciate a dive bar like I do, then this is your place.
The View has that beautiful balance of old school blue collar ambiance meets vintage, dingy, but not totally run down feel. You can feel this before even opening the front door.
The beers were cold and priced well. The wings were actually pretty good. The bartender was a blast; hardworking, knowledgable, and could dish it out as well as take it.

The Becky Burger is THE BOMB. The bun was toasted perfectly. My husband had the Homicide Burger. He liked it but wasn’t crazy about the relish.
I was not crazy about the Texas Fries because the ranch dressing was on the fries. I would rather have it on the side. But my husband liked them.
It is definitely worth the trip for the burgers alone.
The last thing I want to mention is the smoking. There is a huge sign on the front door that it is a smoking place so don’t complain in your review that you smell like cigarette smoke when you leave… you know it going in. Thank God there’s one place left, that you can smoke.

Daily lunch specials that have nearly made me ruin my phone from drooling on it (and they don’t even do the actual food justice) and now with the smoke free lunches?
Don’t forget The Best Burgers in Northern Indiana (complete with caps because the won that), the drink specials and the great staff.

This is the best burger in town… I didn’t say nicest atmosphere… just thee best burger. The beer specials are outstanding and everyone there is extremely nice. Well worth the trip

First and foremost, The View (aka Parkview Tavern) is a bar and a smokey one at that! Back in the day they had $ 2 Tuesday with $ 2 burgers and pitchers of beer. Nowadays, it’s still a bargain at $ 3.50 a burger (plus $ 1 for fries) and $ 3 pitchers of beer.
My husband and recently stopped in on a Tuesday to grab a burger and a couple beers (which turned into several hours and several pitchers!). Service is always great, even when crowded. It’s a good burger for $ 3.50 and I’m sure some of their other burgers are even better. Onion rings and fries are always crisp and hot… and you can’t beat their daily drink specials.
However, the smoking continues to be the biggest turnoff for us. It’s not very appealing to eat with constant smoke and I hate coming home and smelling of cigarette smoke. We would definitely frequent more if they went smoke-​free!
