Love brittany and fresh ingredients that go into everything she does. It is worth the wait in a truly made to order café. Prices are not unreasonable for the quality ingredients. And the eggs? Not frozen patty eggs like you get down the street. Fresh from a small hobby farm just a few miles out of town. Keep up the great work!

This place is great! Small but quaint the food is delicious and I love all the names of the sandwichs. I tried the I dare you to try it(IDYTTI) sandwich it is unbelievably good. I love the blueberry muffins also the chef grills it with butter and it is probably the best muffin I’ve ever had. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I can say the eggs come from a local farm as I know the farmers personally. The owner/chef Brittany is very friendly and came out to see how everything was when she actually had a second while running the show here.

I love small town old school joints! This one is killer! I am a type of person who loves to try new things, in this particular instance, the IDYTTI…(I Dare You To Try It) you say that to me, I’m in! Especially for $ 6. That way if I didn’t like it, it was only $ 6! But I loved it! I’m actually back for a second time during my 1 week stay here in Maine! The lady running the joint, I believe her name is Brittany, runs this place like a true cook should! Yeah ok, I get the reviews on her customer service, but think about it! If you have been in the restaurant industry you know it is dang near impossible to cook and serve a restaurant, not just a window to drop food in! She is slammed back in the kitchen and out front! I think she is a machine and I’ll take a little sass if you are pumping out food the way she does! As for the sandwich… You would be insane not to try this! My girlfriend hates mayonnaise, and even ordered the sandwich this time after taking a bite of mine last time! And, they even give you free samples of the extra smoothies if your nice:)

I really wanted to love this place, it’s close by and my family and are love small breakfast joints like. We also tend to frequent then often. I tried twice and really more for the creative sandwich combos. Really the only reason they get 2 stars. The first time customer service was eh slightly better then second time. Second time I was made to feel like an inconvenience and she wanted to argue about what I said until she realized she was confused but offered no apology. The bad: eggs taste like frozen patties(at almost $ 6 I’d expect a real egg As mentioned by another poster the bagels were not great. Better at dunkins and I’m not a fan of dunkins. The customer service is unfriendly at best maybe it’s the winter blahs but added insult to injury with mediocre over priced food. Someone else mentioned lack of espresso drinks. I’ll second that …, prefer my breakfast one stop shopping in fact there’s an aroma joes 30 seconds away. I haven’t had their bagels but they can’t be worse and I know their bakery items are very good. Bottom line: Wouldn’t drive out of the way and unless dunkins and aroma joes closes down and you’re desperate I’d save your cash.

What a great place to eat! Cozy atmosphere, great coffee options, great breakfast food options! I had the standard eggs over easy with homefries, toast and bacon. Superb! The home fries had a nice spice to them — not hot, very tasty!!! Free wifi!

I just had take out this AM. I have gone there several time. I had the 2 eggs, toast, and choice of fruit, bacon, home fries and something else which I forget(ham, perhaps). Their menu is online if you want to save time and see if it is something you would like. TIP: Their homefries are very over-spiced. My friend who also ate the«Slammer» sandwich also had a bit of GI distress after this. So, ask them to tone done the home fries and if they cannot, don’t order if you have a sensitive stomach. TIP: If you are having take out do not have them butter the toast and ask them to wrap it up separately. I ended up with completely soggy toast, which was inedible. I should have buttered it at home, or they should have wrapped it. For 6.50 this is the least they can do. With that price, I consider it a bit on the pricey side but there is little competition in the area and they have some great reviews, They are friendly and polite, and the food is ready fast. In fact, if you are asking for take out make sure the food won’t be ready before you get there — it doesn’t enhance the taste. Their Almond smoothie is delicious and full of great stuff AND you can create your own. Absolutely delicious. Well run, clean, polite, innovative and talented chef. Just beware of spicy stuff. Love the take out option and the fast service. I have been about 12 times and always consistently polite and good food.

We drove 10 miles to try this place after we saw an article about it in the local newspaper. If was well worth the trip. The place is small and casual. You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table when ready. Coffee is self serve, which I really appreciate – nothing more annoying than waiting a long time for a java refill. The menu includes the usual pancakes and waffles and basic eggs. But they also have an extensive menu of creative breakfast sandwiches and a range of smoothies. I had a Mediterranean sandwich with eggs, spinach, artichoke hearts and feta. It was fantastic. They clearly use high quality ingredients. We also shared an order of crepes and fresh fruit that was terrific. The owners are friendly and engaging. This is a great find: I will definitely be back.

What a hidden gem! The Early Bird reminded me of places in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. All local food, all organic with a country feel. We were camping in the area and found this on the Unilocal app. We came everyday. The Mexican Burritos are insane! So so good! We also loved the smoothies! Since we had our dog we took it out food to go but the staff insisted we sit outside and even set up a table for us. Highly recommend. One note: I think that South Berwick needs to do something with all the huge trucks that come barreling through the square. It is loud and takes away from the charm of the downtown. They are nonstop!

Cute little place in town! Muffins are delicious and the staff is so friendly! Coffee is more affordable than the dunkins next door and tastier. I love having this business as a staple in my town!

I guess after 2 years I should update my review. The Early Bird is such a warm and inviting place. The food remains terrific. I dare you to try the«IDYTTI» on an Asiago bagel… an unexpected yet fantastic combination of flavors. Although it is tough to choose between that and a grilled, yes grilled, homemade blueberry muffin. The grilling gets the muffin warm throughout and carmelizes the sugars just a bit… addicting. Free wifi, best coffee in town, friendly locals, awesome food and a great price… what more could you want?

Cozy little shop with wifi, friendly service, comfy chairs and tables, local bulletin board, magazines, right on main strip of town. Made me feel right at home to get a bit of work done and Sip some hot tea with honey.

So. This little place has been here for a while, yet I had no idea they had changed hands. The new owner changed the configuration that really suits the place. Breakfast items on menu are creative and numerous. This is local place! Let’s get out here South Berwick and support out own!

The quality at this place has really gone downhill. The service is unfriendly and there are signs posted everywhere with orders and warnings. They don’t accept credit or debit cards because the fees are too high, but they tell people to go to the bank atm($ 3 fee paid by customer) or to the grocery store down the street.(Grocery store pays the fee instead) whenever I go in, the owner is unfriendly and seems annoyed that I am ordering stuff from her. I guess she isn’t aware that there are other(better) breakfast joints right down the street.

Who would have guessed that such delicious and refined food would be here in non urban Maine? The tag line is «The Way Life Should Be» and they deliver. Try the chile-spiced Brussels sprouts!

The phone number on this page is wrong. The actual number is 207−384−8100 The young lady that runs The Early Bird is sweet and friendly. The menu is has a great range. The supreme is my favorite. A variety of fresh bagels to choose from. Delicious carpe diem coffee and a nice relaxing atmosphere to eat in or you can take out if you like.

Fast, delicious, amazing options, cheap Breakfast sandwiches on steroids — avocado and siracha, 2 of my favorite ingredients — in one breakfast sandwich. Love it. Wi-fi. Coffee — in cute mugs. TeA — awesome selection. How could I forget friendly service.

This was the first time we tried went to this small café since moving to Berwick, Maine. Honestly, it looks closed a lot of the time, but it’s really just the lighting I think(and that it’s a small place). *NOTE: CASHONLY PLACE-and no ATM* We arrived around lunch time, and the two sisters behind the counter seemed very busy but still warmly greeted us asking what we wanted. This is a place where you have to order before you sit down(by a menu located on the wall), which sometimes is tricky if you don’t know what you want. After finally deciding on lunch(they have many breakfast choices!) we chose 2 turkey club wraps. We were quickly informed that they had a big catering order to do, so we’d have to wait awhile(we didn’t mind) and they only had enough turkey for one wrap(they cook up the turkey themselves). We ordered a chicken club wrap instead and only had to wait 10 mins(the girls work together pretty fast!) You got free chips with your lunch order, and I must say the wraps were delicious! You can obviously see and tell by the taste that they’re homemade and made to order. Overall, the food was very delicious! The prices are slightly high, but certainly worth it for the quality. We will be back for breakfast very soon! :) BTW, Try the coffee, it really is the BEST! :)
