Their Pozole, Queso Fundido with Chorizo, Calabesitas, Pancakes, Bacon and Chilaquiles are all delicious here. My 3 and 7 year old love coming here for breakfast. They love drawing on the paper table covers with the crayons and they love the pancakes with the canela and whipped cream, hold the syrup. And the pozole, well, what can I say, AMAZING! You will wait a while to be served but that is because everything is freshly prepared but you can enjoy some delicious chips and a variety of salsas while you wait.

Service is HORRIBLE!!! It took the waitress 20 minutes to ask us what we wanted to drink. Really? Not even a water. Then the cook has some nasty ass attitude when I went to grab a plate from the counter she told me in a disgusting manner that you’re not suppose to grab those. Well excuse me if the waitress would bring us plates to grab the chips and salsa this wouldn’t be happening!!! Never going back.

Attention owner! Food is great. I was there one morning, great service. I gave you a compliment on everything. Went back last night. food great but service was slow. Poor young girl all alone with no help! Place was full. I was disappointed and was tempted to help her.

This place is awesome. There is a lot of imagination in the menu offerings, and the preparation, presentation, and tastiness are top notch. While the service is polite and friendly, it can be a bit slow. We were a party of seven and there was about a ten minute difference between the arrival of the first dinner and the last; otherwise, this place is a delight.

Visited this place twice this week with coworkers. Both times they allowed us to order ahead so we could eat right away when we got there. The servers were friendly and engaged, especially Oscar, who made it a point to answer all our questions about the delicious food he was serving us. I had the shrimp fajitas the first day. They were super flavorful, and had a good balance of meat and veggies. The second day I got the famous geckos pasta and it was absolutely delicious. I want to keep going back so I can try the whole menu!

Big fan of this place. We went at a perfect time because the last times I have gone they have been busy. We were seated right away and served immediately. Oscar, our host was AWESOME. He explained every dish coming out because we asked(we sat by the kitchen). Everything was delicious. I had the combo plate — Fish taco and a Sope De Carne Asada. The meat was so good! My coworker Megan had the Shrimp Fajita plate(LETMESAY — OHEMMMGEE!) I am ordering that next time. It came in two types of sauces making meal exquisite. Oscar said the meat is marinated over night to give the taste of perfection. My other Co worker, Sandra, orders the Camarones de Ajo(Garlic Shrimp) Dinner Plate. It was marinated in sauces and it look like pepper flakes and it came with French fries. THATMYFRIENDS, was also YUMMY! Let’s not forget the Geckos Pasta. Yes, it is a Mexican Restaurant but with a fusion touch. It is a pasta with a cream sauce of chipotle and cheeses with garlic. THIS is my favorite dish on the menu but very filling. To end this wonderful taste journey, dessert. A strawberry quesadilla. It is like a bunuelo in dulce de leche, chocolate and lots of strawberries cut in half with SPRINKLES of powder sugar(lightly added). Two gals ordered Café de La olla(cinnamon coffee) with piloncillo(a white sugar with molasses). What a delight! Let’s see it is Friday and I will be back on Monday. See you soon Oscar! Note: Want to take someone there for a birthday and embarrass the heck out of them. This is the place. They give everyone music tools to join in the fun.

Food is great but service is really bad, overtime the service has improved i must say. I’ve been there quite a few times and the girl with blonde at one point then pink at another usually looks upset, or stressed out idk, but doesn’t look like she wants to be there. These are things customers see and get vibes off of so please just improve on your customer service here

Very disappointing! I had been here a several times before, even boasting to everyone«how great this place is». Epic fail on my part. I went on a Saturday morning thinking their menudo must be fabulous(idea based on my previous visits) however I would be horribly wrong! First they ran out of champurrado! They took 1 cup and broke it down into two cups, It wasn’t even 10am yet. Then to my surprise I glance to the left towards the kitchen where I witnessed in utter disgust, 2 ladies opening a can of MENUDITO!!! Really! If I wanted something out of a can, I would have gone to the store and bought it at a fraction of the price. I haven’t been there since. Mostly cause now I wonder, what else are they pushing on us CLAIMING to be something THEY’VEMADE!!! No, never again!

Overpriced nasty champurrado!!! I paid $ 4.33 for a 16oz cup of clumpy masa water. It doesn’t even deserve to be called champurrado. It’s missing that chocolate cinnamon goodness. I could have gotten some tacos for that price. Such a let down!

This review is just on the food since we typically order to-go. Had the Lunch Truck and Humanga Changa burritos and the Caldo de Res. Food was delicious! Burritos were big enough to share and the soup hit the spot, like my Nana used to make. So far, so good. I’ll update the review as we try more and more things off the menu.

Do they still have cockroaches? Food used to be so good, but since I worked there, I know first hand how bad the roach problem is…

I used to live down the street and I just discovered this place when I was in the area. This place has became a must go to place. I love love love the idea of covering the tables with a large sheet of paper and having a cup full of crayons to which the costumer can draw on. The employees are very nice and they sat my family and I quickly. Now to the best part, let’s talk food. I ordered the caldo de res, which is like chicken soup but with meat, corn, and red rice in it. Ahhh! So delicious it almost felt like I was tasting my mother’s dish. I was so amazed and pleased to say the least. The Jamaica I ordered was very good as well. My sister gave me a taste of her soupa de fidio and her strawberry horchata and ahhhhh!!! That was the best! I seriously left a big tip because of how pleased I was. I really recommend it!!! I am left wanting more.

I have been here about 5 times with my wife and kids. The food is good, but the service is one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. We have been waiting for about an hour and a half. We actually had to take 2 booths because the girls who work here, can’t seem to be able to clean the other 4 big empty tables. I already ask if she could please get the table ready, since my in law is with us and we are sitting separate, but they seem to put on a fake smile and Ignore my request. I hate coming to a place and asking for something. It’s not like I want anything for free.

Stopped in for a post-movie dinner on a sweltering hot day. Probably not the best idea, since there wasn’t any AC. However, the food proved to be redeeming quality. Loved their chips, salsa, and pickled veggies bar. I really liked getting to pick and choose my favorites without having to bother the staff. The hard shell beef tacos were really good. I’d definitely get them again. I doctored the guacamole a bit, as I needed some extra kick. No big deal, they have a whole salsa bar at the ready. The chile relleno and taquitos were also very tasty. The frosty Modelos cooled us down for a bit, but missed having some cold air on as we ate. The guy next to us ordered this wonderful looking chicken pesto sandwich with fries. Maybe I’ll go for that or the pasta next time.

Just as the other reviews have mentioned the service here is beyond horrible. Luckily the food was a lot better than the service but they seemed like the type of people to spit in your food if you even questioned the long wait . The one and only woman behind the kitchen line seemed upset she had to make a new batch of tortilla chips when they ran out on Mothers Day… A commonly popular holiday for restaurant Business? So not too sure why she was rolling her eyes behind her head … Long story short don’t waste your time. There’s plenty of other joints in El Monte that will give you authentic, delicious food with GENUINELY hospitable service. First impressions go a long way and unfortunately, one visit here was enough for me

Very disappointed. This place use to be so yummy. The father who started this restaurant isn’t involved anymore and whomever is running things is ruining things. Very sad actually. This use to be a very authentic delicious Mexican restaurant. Service is mediocre at best and salsa bar is stale. Our food was cold and not very flavorful. I won’t come here again.

Came today to pick up an order to-go. The server was friendly. I ordered half an hour in advance just because of other reviews commenting on the slow service. Food was ready by the time i got there. I ordered the gecko pasta and garlic cheese fries. The pasta was delicious. It was creamy and full of flavor. It had a very tiny spicy kick to it. It comes with either soup or salad and garlic bread. I got the tortilla soup which was good. The garlic cheese fries had finely minced greens on it — i think it was cilantro, not sure. I liked it though. They were not cheap on the cheese. The portions were hefty. I will definitely come back.

Def got better after the first time. The salad was good, but now I’ve had a couple other things, and this place has won me over! Tortilla soup(4.5 stars): very good tortilla soup, with cream and yummy crisps on top, the flavors are on point! Cilantro Jalapeño Pesto Chicken Sandwich(3.75 stars): the bread they use for this is amazing, I found that they over cooked the chicken last time, but all the components are there and the cilantro sauce is amazing! Carne Asada Tacos(4 stars): these are really good, thick pieces of beef, sauteed green onions, pretty different tacos but def good! Geckos Pasta(5 stars): this pasta is super good!!! The sauce is amazing, kind of spicy and creamy at the same time, so much pasta, lots of chicken, on point flavor, the garlic bread with it is too thick though. They always have fast service for us on our 1 hour lunch, the ladies here are great, and I’ll keep coming back!!! They have many different selections :) Private Parking lot, salsa bar on the side, order ahead! Bam!
