HOWTOEAT A 5STARBOWLOFPHOATPHOFILET Number 1: Order«big rice noodles» or «small yellow noodles.» The big rice noodles are superior to their skinny rice noodles. These are hands down the best rice noodles I’ve ever tasted at any phở restaurant. The«small yellow noodles» are also one of the best egg noodles in LA. You can’t go wrong with either one. You can also ask for half and half, and they’ll give you both in the same bowl. Number 2: Expect a great bowl of phở. At times this place can be very busy and service may not be perfect. However, the phở always arrives at your table very quickly and is served piping hot. The greens on the side(basil, sprouts, etc) are always fresh. Lower your expectations on service and focus on getting a great bowl of phở instead. Number 3(Optional): Order Kobe. Kobe and the«big rice noodle» go hand in hand. The Phở Kobe is phenomenal, nuff’ said. Follow these guidelines and you’ll be enjoying the best bowl of Phở you ever had. Jimmy

So many flavors! Spicy, sweet, sour, umami… I go here and/or another place down the street when here is too busy but, this place is better. Fresh clean basil/lime/sprouts/green leaf I don’t know what to call, they serve extra ginger, and on the table are sriracha, oils, hoisin, AND pickled chiles… I get the large chicken phở, it’s huge and bomb as f&$k! This place is always packed for a reason. And I’m usually the only whitey in there. Staff is very nice though! Love my phở filet!

They have very reasonable price and quality food. I ate at the restaurant and also tried the to go phở. The carry out phở is fancy! They would separate the noodles and soup. The side such as the vegetables and meat would put in a separated bag as well! More over, they come with the sauce! I’m impressed how thoughtful they are when putting the phở for customers who wants to carry out. $ 6.5 for a phở and $ 2 for a drink, great great deal.

Good phở-the meat is very tender and the broth is packed with flavor. The sizes are also great. I also don’t speak Vietnamese but they found a way to communicate with me. Do not order the spring rolls though… it’s very basic and you hardly taste the meat. As cheap as they are, you can make the ones they have here on your own. If you like Brodard quality spring rolls then you will be disappointed.

Like their #15 Phở Dac Biet + Meatballs. Like the egg rolls from Saigon Flavor/Golden Deli better. Thai iced tea is good, but too sweet. Busy restaurant even on a weekday night. Located on Garvey, in a small plaza. Small-ish to adequate parking space(can also street park), but I can see how it would be difficult during the weekends though.

My favorite Phở spot in the SGV/626! I don’t come here for anything else other than the phở. Cheap price, generous portions, hot and tasty broth, melt-in-your-mouth rare steak meat. I’ve never tried any tai(rare steak) quite as flavorful at any other Vietnamese restaurant. I have tried their other location on San Gabriel Blvd/Garvey, but it doesn’t seem to compare to this original location. Additionally, they are very quick and generous with the portions on takeout orders as well. My only complaints are that the restaurant is small as well as the parking lot, the tables can be sticky and dirty at times. Overall, love this place! Will be coming back time and time again.

I have to admit they have the most tender fillet of beef ever, best Phở place around the area, I also like getting their avocado smoothies, it’s made fresh to order. The only complaint is their parking, it is a pain in the beehive during lunch hour.

This place is the bomb. My only regret is not discovering this place sooner:(I had to move to Las Vegas almost immediately after. Large bowl… is so freaking large! I ordered the combination with everything in it. They give sooo much meat and meat balls. And the filet mignon meat is soft and tender, so very delicious. Based on this experience alone, I can say that this is my go to place for good beef phở. I’d say it’s even better than phở in OC! The only downside is the parking. It’s very limited, so come early to eat!

My family and my sister takes me here to have brunch here a couple times now. This place and the business seem to be doing great that parking is usually fully taken that we would have to park on the side of the street. I did noticed sometimes you get like one homeless person sleeping outside next to their restaurant; the workers probably too shy and don’t really speak up to keep them from solidarity their restaurant. One time when one of them step in and cause a scene, my sister stood-up and help answer the crazy lady’s questions and help her walk-out, to save the restaurants some trouble and the lady as well. My sister is the costumer of the restaurant, shouldn’t be helping but sitting down, and enjoying her food without being interrupted just because none of the workers wanted to take a stand and help fix the easy-situation. Other than the shy costumer service, the food serving is a lot that small will do just fine if don’t want to eat overfill up your stomach, price is reasonable and so far any dishes that we tried have turn out to be good. And I forgot to mention that they let you have your own side of your filets for your Phở; I didn’t know a lot of people actually like to requested till I was looking around and had a shared table. That means more dishes to wash for the workers; shows they willing to put up effort for you to have a good quality experience with your Phở. The one small bad part is that the whole meal is never 100% perfect though; one time the crab-pie meat(that comes with the rice) doesn’t taste that great, or another time the rice taste(hard) like it’s been out for too long. And today, I thought it was pretty neat that they have people sharing the same table that got open seats, so people don’t have to wait too long to be help and be seated down when a table clears up. I have to sit with another stranger with my aunt, and then another stranger join with us and the first one that was at the table already. At least they not shy when it comes to helping their costumers shares a table with someone else.

Some phở places are actually always busy when they first start till when they close and Phở Filet is that spot. Located in the city of El Monte in the San Gabriel Valley this spot is pretty popular amongst the locals and people from other areas. The parking lot can get a little crazy but it is worth it for this bowl of phở. I think they seriously know what they are doing and even though I sometimes never can finish a small bowl of phở, I always can when I’m at Phở Filet. That is saying something! Service is super friendly and fast. They are busy but they are also doing a great job in getting people seated and getting the food out quickly. It’s a small store so you might have to wait a little if you do come here. I’d suggest coming here if you are wanting to try what phở really taste like. Some places to me actually have no flavour as a broth but this one does pack a good one. SGV always has the best places and I would totally recommend coming here if you haven’t been. You’ll enjoy it and feel satisfied.

Among other things, I’m a phở purist, and while my favorite phở spots remain in Little Saigon, Phở Filet is surprisingly a comparable substitute, AND a much closer drive. Eileen L.‘s REFVIEW for Phở Filet RELEVANTINFO * Located in an obscure strip mall in El Monte — this spot was not easy to find! * This place is an extremist when it comes to phở sizes — S or XL, nothing in between… at least the S is moderately portioned * Not sure, but I don’t think there’s a restroom available for guests here * Don’t get your hopes up, the TV only plays a slideshow of the(or another?) Vietnamese restaurant on loop * A poorly designed parking lot in front, but a parking lot nonetheless * Ca$h only EXPECTATIONSGOINGIN * The bf hyped it up to be the best phở in the 626… I hate it when he’s right! FOOD * Filet Mignon Phở($ 7 S, $ 8XL) — thick(!!!) rice noodles swimming in piping hot beefy richness * Specialty($ 7.50 S; $ 8.50XL) is supposedly incredible, and incredibly liberal with their serving of various meats VALUE * Dirt cheap, as in $ 6 – 9 nearly all items on the menu, but be prepared to settle your bill in ca$h IMPRESSIONOVERALL * Immediately after placing our order, the BF shows me an imgur scroll, when I’m chuckling at the post when I’ve finished, the food is already set before us – literally 3 minutes! * Restaurant occasionally smells like a strong cleaner — Lemony and slightly unpleasant * Despite the penetrating lemon smell, the restaurant really is clean — the first sign of this was from noticing the well-maintained glossy and greasy-free menus ENVIRONMENT /AMBIANCE * You can’t get any more hole-in-the-wall than here * While we were eating, a Filipino musician duo(singer and guitarist) came into the restaurant soliciting donations, and then sings a string of Christmas tunes for us, including a verse of «Let It Snow» — dinner and a show., fancy for phở, I must say! WOWFACTOR * Wagyu phở. what? * Indeed the best phở in the 626

Not really a fan of the specialty here, phở with filet mignon meat. It’s my personal preference however, because it was just too much meat for me and I didn’t enjoy thick chunks of meat in my phở. It’s served mostly raw and cooks in your broth. You can tell it’s high quality meat and it’s extremely tender. And they do put a lot of it so I have to give credit where credit is due. If you’re a ravenous carnivore and love meat, definitely try the special here.

Dinner on Wednesday, 10÷28÷15(first time visiting) My mom and I came by for a quick dinner to fulfill our Vietnamese phở craving. We were in the area and decided to try it out. They have a tiny parking lot shared with another store so you might have to park on the street. It’s a casual restaurant that isn’t the cleanest either. There was no wait in line so we were seated immediately. The server came by quickly to take our order too. We just ordered the usual beef noodle soup along with a durian smoothie and a three-colored bean ice drink. The durian smoothie was for my mom and she said it was good. I haven’t had a bad three-colored drink so it was good too. The server gave us a choice to have the bean sprouts cooked or served raw. That’s different since they usually default to serving it raw. My usual phở restaurant is Golden Deli located on Las Tunas so compared to their phở, it’s not as good. As far as satisfying a phở craving, this place was alright. It’s a quick dining experience if you’re in a hurry. I haven’t tried the other items on the menu so this review is only for phở. Don’t forget it’s cash only!

TLDR; Good phở here! Broth is flavorful yet not too salty, noodles are super fresh and soft, meat is tender and doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting there! Service is good too! Don’t forget the $ 2 thai tea with or without boba! The family was feeling like having some PHO tonight so of course we turned to Unilocal!Decided on trying out Phở Filet because of their 4* rating and of course the filet mignon slices! Sad to say, but this was my first time trying filet mignon PHO and i’m HOOKED! FOOD PHODACBIET without the Bo Vien(beef balls) — this phở has filet mignon slices, flank meat, and tendon! I ordered a large which was a good portion, enough for me and my girlfriend to share and not be overly full. I actually ordered it without beef balls but it ended up somehow coming with beef balls. The broth isn’t too salty and doesn’t taste like it’s littered with MSG and the noodles were so soft and tasted very fresh compared to other places! The quality of the meat here is top notch! The filet mignon is soft and tender, flank meat is cooked perfectly and isn’t too chewy nor does it get stuck in your teeth, and the tendon is cooked so soft! As for the meat balls. I was in for a surprise! They actually tasted really good! ROASTEDCORNISHHEN w/Red Rice — The rice was very very flavorful and is definitely one of my favorite. The problem with this dish is the chicken is a bit too dry! I wish it was more moist because it would have paired so perfectly with the rice if done right! DRINKS Thai Tea with or without boba(tapioca balls) for $ 2!!! That’s so cheap! And, it tastes good! SERVICE The waiter(s) here are very attentive and friendly. It’s not very often that I visit a phở restaurant to hear them say«Enjoy!» after serving us our food. Throughout our meal, they also ensured that our drinks were refilled and they also made sure to ask us how the food was. PARKING They have a shared lot with ample parking but you can also utilize the street parking! The plaza does get a bit busy.

We came here with my family. There are plenty of tables for all size parties. We had 6 people so we sat at the big table which sat us perfectly. There are plenty of workers working so service is EXCELLENT! Our server spoke decent English and when he came to bring our food he even said«Enjoy your meal!» I don’t think I have ever heard an Asian waiter say that! We even got water refills without even asking! We ordered filet rare steak, well-done flank, brisket, tendon and tripe phở(#16). It was pretty good, the meat and broth were flavorful. We asked for hot oil with green onion which is delicious with the phở! They gave us plenty of noodles and meat. My bf and I shared the XL but we couldn’t even finish it! Overall, we would come back! Good service and good phở!

This is one of my go-to phở places when in the 626. It is a hole-in-the-wall and a bit dated, but that is what makes the food even better! My go-to dish is the vermicelli. Food comes out quick and it is a pretty loud environment, so if you’re looking for casual dining, this is the place. (+): –Plenty of choices! You will probably find something you will like. –Very reasonably priced. –Portions are decent sized– I feel like it’s more than what other phở places will give you. –Can order take-out (-): –Small parking lot –Cash only

1 star off for their service. It could be better if the staff smiled and not look so pissed off! Came in today to pick up my lunch to go for me and my coworkers. Located in a small plaza next to McDonalds that has hard tight parking space. good luck find parking in the structure, if not then you gotta find one in the street. We order 3 of the #110 on the menu that comes with shrimp paste, eggroll w/tiny vermicelli. hmm… not very good. Eggroll was soggy when I came back to work, the fish sauce that it comes with was bland and could use more flavor, the meat was half fatty and half good. Not enough of the vegetable and fresh herbs, i love that stuff and that makes your noodles smell nice. But this place is not known for this dish My coworker order the pork chop rice for her son. So im not sure how their rice would taste like. Anyways, this is my 2nd time coming here. First time was with a friend and I ordered their phở. I love phở. I always order phở whenever i go to vietnamese places. Im sure any combination of their phở are phở-nomial! I would come back to eat their phở only. Don’t think I will order anything else.
