Usually I can trust Unilocal for a good meal, not this time. It wad definitely not a 4.5 star meal. Mediocre salad, pizzas were ok, garlic fries were free with Unilocal check in(nothing special about them either). Service was not great. The server kept on forgetting to bring items, never even gave us drinks menu. So many tastier options in South Lake Tahoe. Won’t be coming back to this restaurant again.

This place is popular! It has a great location and some substantial food, so I can see why. The service was excellent! Bravo, even when busy, good service! As for the food, I checked in and received the garlic fries which were very so so. I am not a big fan of fries, so may not wanna take my word for it. As for pizza, which I am a very big fan of, it was so so. I had a half pepperoni, half pear and Gorgonzola. Being a cheese lover, I could have had more Gorgonzola on my pizza. So all and all, great little place in Heavenly with a great location and some decent pizza. OH and bonus, the people who own Base Camp own a couple of other restaurants in town. It comes in handy when you have a 10% off coupon on the bottom of your receipt for their other restaurants(if you want to try them!)

The pizza is a thinner one but def not Neopolitan style. It’s tasty and there are some really Yummy combos like the roasted peppers or the bbq chicken. The Caesar salad dressing is a bit bland and way too many croutons. I’d avoid that. Biggest knock on the place is that it’s so damn popular. It’s guaranteed to be a 60 – 90 min wait at any time between 530 – 930. They should really try to open a second location in another part of the village.

Pretty darn good pizza here. Unlock the Unilocal check-in special offer for free garlic fries. Waited about 30 minutes to get a table, but it was worth it. I love the atmosphere around Base Camp Pizza. It’s the perfect place to refuel your belly after a long day of riding on the slopes. One item that«wasn’t for me» were the garlic chips. Others seemed to like them, but I found them to be too dry. Both the pizzas were good. I asked for a side of ranch to help wash down the pizza crust. Check the photos.

Holy crap this place is popular. When we got here the line was super long out the door… just to get to the hostess stand to put your name down on the list and be told the wait is about 1.5−2 hours. Ridiculous! I guess if you’re a pizza place in the middle of Heavenly village with good Unilocal ratings you’re going to be popping. There isn’t even room inside or by the door or line to wait as the line for the hostess bar was super long and right next to this is the line for ordering takeout and then the bar is right next to this, all of which are super packed. We were literally squeezing through mobs to get anywhere, and waiting at the bar wasn’t even an option. If they’re going to want to be able to accommodate how crazy popular they are they’ll need to figure out a better layout here or expand more! We headed over to fire+ice nearby to grab drinks and appetizers outside by the fires while we waited, which was pretty nice. After a 2 hour wait we finally got called(they actually ran out of the usual buzzers they give out normally, so they started taking cell phone numbers). After waiting this long and seeing how popular the place was we had started to hype the place up and were starving, which is why I end up giving this place 3 stars. The pizza was decent but not anything amazing. It was pretty similar to many other non-chain pizza places. If I had walked in here and sat with little to no wait and had good service I probably would have had a much better experience and given 4 stars. But after such a long wait I didn’t think it was really worth how long we had waited. We got the base camp, the big mountain and the Thai chicken curry pizza. The first two are your standard combo and meat lovers type pizzas. The Thai chicken curry was definitely very interesting with the heavy creamy curry flavor nicely cut with some lime juice. The curry was a bit too heavy though and covered the taste of the fresh basil and cilantro and none of us could eat a second slice of this. We also got free garlic fries with the Unilocal checkin. These were pretty tasty but a lot of this was also due to the fact that we were starving and absolutely inhaled these. I got a vodka lemonade drink with a sprig of fresh rosemary. This was refreshing and came in a mason jar, which I’m a clichéd sucker for.

We came on a busy night. They said it was going to be 3 hours wait… Holy crap that’s outrageous. But ok, we put our name in and decided to walk around south lake to see if we’d come up sooner. Sure enough they call us after about 30 minutes and let us know that our table is ready. We told em we would walk right over but it would be about 10 minutes. We walked over and by the time we walk over they had given our table away? Wtf? And then they give us some sob story about how it was the other hostesses fault and not theirs. When we were seated at a side table to wait, the waitress came by and told us that it wasn’t her problem either. Look this is a restaurant. You all work together to give your clients a good experience. If the only thing yo I can say is «It wasn’t my fault, what can I do?» Then you can expect a bad review. When we finally got a table, our next server, Houston, was much more polite and helpful. But the entire first impression has left me knowing I will never be coming back, no matter how good the food is. UPDATE: We ordered chicken wings and 2 pizzas. The kitchen«forgot» to make one of the pizzas. The chicken wings were fine, they came out hot. But when we asked about the pizza, our server gave us some attitude back about how long it would take. That was it, when it came time to pay, we left a bad(10%) tip and an explanation on the receipt. When we got up to leave, our server then chased us outside to demand an explanation. Let’s recap here: 1. Hostess original estimation is 3 hour wait. 2. When we were called in for our table, they gave our table away before we could get there. 3. Bartender gave us attitude for having the gall to complain about that. 4. Kitchen«forgets» to make our pizza. 5. Server gives us attitude when asking about said pizza. 6. Chased down by server for explanation of our tip. Where there’s smoke there’s fire. This place sucks. To the staff, learn these words«I’m sorry about that.» Other members of your staff are going to mess up from time to time, but when you are the one talking to the customer, just apologize and try to make it right. Don’t look around trying to blame someone else.

You are in the snowy cold, near Heavenly base camp, and in need of something warm and delicious to warm your soul. Look no further because this place has some super delicious pizza! We got the Base Camp Pizza and it was wonderful. Flavorful, cheesy, crispy, delicious. Great customer service. Helped us fit out giant stroller in a tight spot with the attitude. Be aware you might be waiting a little bit to fill your heart and soul with this gooey goodness!

After a perfect day skiing/boarding Sierra at Tahoe, not only we were completely exhausted but none of us wanted to cook. When we came across the almost 1800+ reviews, it was a done deal. We bundled up and stepped out into the fresh snow, hopped in the car and drove 15 minutes to Heavenly Village. Apparently everyone else had the same idea we did this past MLK weekend because once we walked in, the hostess told us it was a 2 hour wait.(#hangry) None of us were having that. After eyeballing the menu, we decided to put in a to go order that would be ready in 30 minutes. Totally manageable. We took our order back to our lodge and reheated all of the pizza in the oven. *Pear and Walnut($ 13 Large) Crisp Bosc pears, sweet candied walnuts and sliced red onions, tossed with mixed greens in our balsamic dressing. Topped with savory Gorgonzola cheese. With the sweet pears, tartness of the balsamic dressing, and chunks of cheese, this salad was . I helped myself to 2 heaping servings of this stuff. *Lodge Wings($ 13 for 10 wings) Hearty chicken wings flame roasted and served with a gorgonzola dipping sauce. Juicy, tender, great seasoning. Exactly how wings should taste. *Base Camp($ 26 for a Large Pizza that we split between two kinds) Pepperoni, Italian sausage, roasted peppers, onions, and portabella mushrooms top our specialy pizza. Fresh ingredients on a pizza make the biggest difference. Loved their version of a combination pizza and the crust was just right– Not too thick and not too thin. *Smoky BBQ Chicken($ 26 for the Large split between two kinds) Oven roasted chicken, crisp bacon, red onions, hickory BBQ sauce, topped with creamy smoked gouda cheese. This was a surprise hit with me. I’m not usually a bbq chicken pizza girl but this one hit the spot. I’m guessing it was because of both the bacon and the Gouda Cheese. Yup, two of my favorite things. On this snowy blistery day, they also had a live band playing in their outdoor patio complete with heaters to keep you nice and toasty. As we were waiting for our order, we stepped outside to enjoy the music. This place is Unilocal-worthy folks, and definitely worth the hype. I’m definitely coming back here when I’m in the Tahoe region. Hopefully next time around, we’ll be able to sit in the restaurant.

Make sure to check into Unilocal for your FREEGARLIC Fries! The fries were pretty tasty. I liked how it was more Parmesan flavor than Garlic. The pizzas here are delicious. The crust in thin and crispy on the bottom. Service here is friendly and awesome! I’d come back.

The garlic fries is so bomb! We got a complimentary fries with Unilocal check-in and actually, that was the most delicious thing we had on our table… so thank you, Unilocal! The pizza, sadly, was just okay for me. The two of us shared a small BBQ chicken. It comes with bacon, bits of white chicken meat, red onions, cilantro and some sort of cheese that tasted sweet and tangy. I do Love the cheese, it was a great combination to the salty bacon. However, I did not like the crust. I thought it was overly hard and not chewy enough for my liking. We also had the pear and walnut salad, laced with balsamic vinegar — it was a delightful salad. The priced was great too, at $ 7 for small, you get a good sized salad enough to portion out for two people. The service was great, our waiter was friendly and the food came quickly. Overall, not really a 4.5 stars pizza place for me, but centrally located with impressive menu. This pizza place is still worth checking out if you are visiting the Heavenly Village.

I am a fan. Came with a couple friends. Decided to sit outside cause it was packed inside. Ordered the Large Half Thai Chicken Half BBQ with a medium Base Camp Pizza, Garlic Fries and a Seafood Pasta The BBQ Chicken and Base Camp Pizza was really good. The Base Camp is there house combination pizza. The Thai Chicken pizza has a unique twist like a sweet and tangy sauce but not sure if that is the best on a pizza. The seafood pasta had a delicious white pasta sauce that was creamy and flavorful. We killed it immediately. You also get free garlic fries if you check-in. You can never go wrong with garlic fries… Overall: Will return when in the area.

There are some fascinating pizza choices to choose from here that I can’t say I’ve seen elsewhere(such as Thai Curry Chicken, Pear & Gorgonzola and the Fire Roasted Medley). Or maybe I’m just not going to the right pizza places. Who knows. Point is, I was very much intrigued by this place’s pizza menu choices. I was here with 3 other people and we were seated and served very promptly! It’s located within the Heavenly Village and is a very popular spot, so expect a wait if you’re coming here during regular meal times. We ordered the curry pizza because it sounded so intriguing. It’s not bad, but it’s a little odd eating pizza that tastes like Thai chicken curry. I guess it just takes some adjusting to? It’s a neat spot for anyone in the area, but it’s very touristy. If you’re looking for more«local flavor,» I would recommend you go elsewhere!

One of my favorite pizza places ever! I’ve had pizza from everywhere. Including Italy. Every person I take here automatically falls in love with this place. The flavors are so amazing, everything tastes SO fresh, and it’s perfectly baked. Service is friendly and they have an amazing selection of beer here! You can order half half. Get the Thai Curry pizza! Personally I love Thai curry so this was awesome. Also the big mountain? Or whichever one with a lot of meat. Come here if you can! Worth the drive even from Reno.

Our hotel Concierge said this was the«best pizza in the planet» and a hot spot in the area, so we had to try it. Conveniently located at Heavenly Village, this was walking distance from our hotel, the Lake Tahoe Resort and the nearby casinos. They did have live music outdoors but since it was cold and snowy, we decided to sit indoors. *The Happy camper was $ 6 during happy hour and a great choice. It had Mango and pineapple juice but was blended and thick and topped with rum, it was so yummy! *Garlic fries were also very good, free with check in *Penne with shrimp was one of our favorite, very creamy, garlicky and tasty *Base camp pizza had mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage, caramelized onions and red bell peppers. It was a bit heavy for me but good Our server was nice and efficient. Recommended!

Calamari is really crispy and delicious! Gourmet pizza! It was tasty and not super greasy. Our friend had a fennel allergy and they were kind enough to give him a personal pizza on the house with no sausage.(The sausage has fennel) we forgot to ask before ordering. They were super friendly and the drinks were tasty. I ordered the base camp drink forgot exactly what it was called. It is a busy restaurant, but they are quick and get people accommodated in a timely fashion. I would definitely come back here next time I’m in town and craving a good slice of pizza!

Amazing pizzas! Great beer and happy hour! And live performances in the evenings! There’s a reason this has the longest line in Heavenly Village, but it’s worth the wait! They have huge pizzas with fluffy crusts. I had a citrus beer(I think it was called Tangerine Wheat, but props to the waiter for a great recommendation) that went really well with their food! We got a free garlic fries(thanks to a Unilocal checkin!), which were good but could have used more toppings/garlic. If we’re talking pizza, the Thai Curry Chicken pizza is unique, flavorful and delish! I would highly recommend this to any pizza lover! It has so many veggies, plus chicken and a great sauce! We also tried the Base Camp, which was super filling, but a little too much on the meat side for me, so my boyfriend took care of that half. Overall, Base Camp Pizza is one of the best spots available in Heavenly Village, especially considering Tahoe’s limited restaurant selection. They can split your pizza into different toppings, but you have to order a Large pizza to do so. Either way, you’ll probably end up with a pizza and beer that you will love!

Juliane was our server the last time we came and she was the bomb! We have been here many times, with adults, with large parties, with large parties with kids. It doesn’t matter, they are wonderful. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure we are all happy. I grew up in Tahoe and often I see the attitude, is «you are a turkey and you will not be back, so what ev…» You don’t see that here. There is a daily special drink for $ 5 so always ask. The thai pizza is amazing but so are many others and one maybe you just made up. If you Unilocal, you can get some rather awesome garlic fries for free.(Check in). My fav drink is the Happy Camper but their beers are good and their Mai Tai is pretty nice too. If you have a big party, call before they open and show up when they do and you should probably have your table set up for you. I think they open at 530 but check. They do not take reservations and they have a wait all the time. They are that good :-)
