Service was as great as the food! The Homemade sausage on the Berts sandwich was so tasty

Crepes were ok. Little too sweet. Owner was nice, but seemed to be rushing people. I stepped outside to occupy my daughter while we waited for our meal and that seemed to bother him.

I have to say this is the second time I’ve been here. First time was was great. This second time not so much. We were a party of 2, waited 40+ minutes and repeatedly skipped. I asked 2 times my wait time before I become upset. I addressed it to the older gentlemen and he was a gem and admitted that we had been skipped. The lady had ignored us and I heard her say my name while she went through the list. I can’t say we will be returning. Maybe if they do carry out. The food is fine.

Went for lunch today. Met up with an old friend while I was in town. He mentioned this was a good place to eat, so what the heck let’s try it. I used to come here years ago when it was Ernie’s. I liked it then. Same décor simple hasn’t changed. Felt like home. I ordered the Mexican burger. Figured can’t go wrong since I am Mexican! My buddy ordered a burger too. He said that is what he He usually gets and that they were good. Service was good and very friendly staff. Food was good. I want to go back and take my wife. I will also have to try the breakfast. So give it a try. I liked it.

Everything is homemade and amazing! There was not one thing on my plate or my boyfriend’s plate that we weren’t thrilled with. Everything tastes great, the orange juice is fresh squeezed, big portions. The servers were very attentive and quick. We were there visiting for a long weekend and will definitely come back to this place next time we are in town.

So far my favorite place while leaving south Lake Tahoe. I will definitely visit this place again. Nothing special from the outside or inside but food was perfect. My wife had a traditional breakfast with pancakes and everything was cooked on point. Eggs were perfectly over easy bacon was crispy how she asked and the pancakes did have a authentic taste. I had a club sandwich and it was perfect. Only gripe I have was water didn’t taste that good but I guess if you don’t have bottled water can’t expect good water. I will definitely go back. You won’t be disappointed.

We come to Tahoe A LOT and this is the best family place to go for breakfast. They are fast, the portions are HUGE, and the food is amazing. Great quality. I HiGHLY recommend the California Omelet frittata style.(I get mine with no cheese). The staff is extremely friendly and every person chips in the help other tables. You will never be left thirsty, waiting for a waiter to hopefully stop by so you can ask for something. They are on top of it! Our #1 breakfast choice every time. Prices are SO reasonable. Whether you’re a 20 something year old with friends on a budget or looking to take a big group out. It’s do-able.

Today I visited this local South Lake Tahoe diner for a late breakfast and was surprised to find it completely packed on a Monday afternoon. This was the second time I had visited this diner and I must admit, it is the local gem of the area. I am a picky eater and I am always able to find something delicious to eat here when I stop in for a meal. Only had to wait for a booth about ten minutes and ordered a few minutes later and my order arrived to my booth within ten minutes thereafter. Service is friendly and quick and the coffee is absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this local diner if you are looking for fast service and delicious diner food. Be aware of the hours, they close at 2:00PM daily so just a heads up!

Hands down best breakfast place I have EVER been to. I live in Reno, NV which isn’t too far away from south lake. So when my boyfriend and I are up here we go to bert’s café. I was so satisfied with my food that I constantly crave this place. They really exceeded my expectations. By far my absolute favorite breakfast joint. I highly recommend coming here if you haven’t before. I wish I could give them 10 stars, they were that good.

This place was so good we went back twice. We were sad we went somewhere else the day before we came here. It is quite possibly one of my all time favorite breakfast places. (Too bad we probably won’t ever be in the area to go again.) Everything is housemade: chicken fried steak, corned beef hash, sausage, biscuits, pancake and waffle battesr, I could go on and on. Pancakes were AMAZING. I don’t even like chicken fried steak but found myself stealing bites of my husband’s. It was that good. Waffles were the smaller, crispy kind. I usually prefer Belgian waffles, but these were delicious. Great texture and the cinnamon one was fantastic. Everyone working there was incredibly pleasant, patient, and personable. VERY impressed. If you’re in the area, you need to come here.

Small, cozy little diner frequented by locals and tourists alike! I was told that Bert’s usually has a line out the door on weekends, particularly Sundays, but that was not the case during my visit, perhaps due to the onset of a storm rolling in. The«brunch» breakfast burrito was my menu choice and I was very pleased. The veggies, turkey, and cheese were all neatly wrapped inside the green tortilla, with pico de gallo on top. The service was good and my dining mates’ coffee mugs were never empty. The single fluffy pancake we shared, which was larger than my face, was also just right. I’d love to try the other favorites on the menu upon next visit!

What a wonderful find. We were on our way back from emerald bay and wanted to stop for lunch somewhere. That is where my trusty Unilocal app comes in handy and makes me look smart. I know, it is hard to believe but it really does. I think my IQ increases while using it. I found Berts Café, located off hwy 50, going towards meyers. I have to say a big thank you to the wait staff and cooks. We literally stepped through the door at 1:59pm and they close at 2pm. They never made us feel rushed, and were so nice. Berts is off the beaten path, and is not a tourist trap. It is very much a locals restaurant open from 5am to 2pm. We were seated right away, since we were pretty much the only left in there. The waitress was very prompt and took our drink and lunch orders. I ordered the mountain burger with smoked cheddar. It comes with a side of fries. The burger itself was quite big. A large patty with lettuce, tomato, onion and bacon. They beef is fresh and not frozen. The only negative was the bun, it was almost cold. I originally was going to give 4 stars, but I bumped it to 5 stars with exceptional customer service. Give this place a try, it is not close to all the glitzy lights and nightlife, but that is a good thing

This place only has table booths, so not the best place if you want to sit you and your closest fifty friends. HOWEVER, they’re very accommodating. Placing your party that’s larger than four near one another won’t too much longer. Huevos rancheros: I read that this was the ultimate hangover cure, and it mostly did the job. Probably my favorite dish I tried. The refried beans tasted like they’re of the canned variety, but it wasn’t bad. Sour cream on request. Crêpe benedict: The hollandaise sauce is made from scratch! It was very, very rich. A bit much for my taste. Probably 50% butter. At least. Hash brown: Perfect level of crispiness, without being burnt. Summary: Food was good, not mind blowing, but good. A lot of options. Wait wasn’t too long on a Sunday morning, reasonably priced especially for the portion, and service is good.

A true Local’s secret The Best homemade food smoked ham, housemade sausage patties, pancake batters, biscuits, hand formed beef patties, cabbage salad and many more items that NOONE makes from scratch anymore! I am addicted to their smoked ham, it is just superb, either steak or slice the best flavor!!! my husband loves their sausage breakfast sandwich with their house made patties! their cabbage salad is sooo unique i adore it, crushed ramen noodles(dry) with shredded cabbage, almond slices, sesame oil and vinegar and green onions!!! perfect with any sandwich especially the club sandwich!!! pancakes are the best in town… really fluffy and they will even put bacon in the batter for you!!! Their oatmeal is really good as well!!! I adore their crushed ice, especially in the iced tea, but equally nice in sodas and water!!! Friendly service, locally owned and so nice to see them support local fundraisers and charities… really part of the community!!! Tracy is the best waitress!!! my son has such a crush on her!!! only open 6am to 2pm so plan accordingly!!!

Oh god, THANKYOUBERT’S CAFE. I had just finished summiting Mt. Tallac after driving from San Jose to Tahoe from 10:30PM to 2:30AM. Began hiking immediately. Had no dinner, no real breakfast, and was going off of fumes by that point. I was so damn exhausted I was beginning to lose my mind. But thank GOD for Bert’s café. I ordered a fat omelette with bacon on the side with some pancakes. I can say that although it was a lot of food, it stood no freaking chance against my stomach. I needed food, and Bert’s café delivered quality, and quantity. The service was excellent, the restaurant was extra clean, and the guests were very friendly. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this place for all you people!

Great food! Stop by here because we are hungry AGAIN after having a small breakfast at A Cup of Cherries. I had the breakfast combo for $ 9.99 I picked 3 bacons, 2 over hard eggs and French toast, bf had the breakfast steak and egg. Food was great!!! Delicious! The bill came to $ 29 with a cup of tea and coffee. The place was moderately busy when we got here and quickly filled up by the local and the tourists. The service was great too! Will return if we are in the area.
