The greatest whole in the wall burger join in South Lake Tahoe period. The burger portions were huge! Such a great place to stop by before(and maybe even after lol) a big day of hitting the slopes. I had their regular cheeseburger and the meet is very tender and juicy. The only downside is that their place is very small, and when it gets busy, the only place to sit is outside… which can be a problem during the winter time.

Delicious FLAME charred burgers and a basket of fries. I really like this place! Plenty of room outside during the summer — but can be a bit cramped inside when there are droves of people eating here.

I will definitely try this restaurant another time but today was not great. We spent so much time trying to figure out when they open their doors for service that our children were starving by the time we gave up & went to a restaurant that was open & told us their hours of operation. Unfortunately that restaurant was the Scottish giant restaurant chain: McDonalds. I blame you Izzy for forcing us to eat an inferior burger.

My husband brought me to Izzy’s about 10 years ago(one of his favorites) and I remember it being the best burger I’ve ever had. I haven’t been back to Lake Tahoe since that day. I went up to South Lake for training today and decided I just HAD to stop at Izzy’s. I drove the South Shore praying that it was still in business and viola — there it was!!! There are only 3 parking spot in front of this piece of heaven burger spa but thats OK — there are some to the right in a shared parking lot with another business. The place is super tiny and covered in fun blue paint with 5 tables inside(2 of which are retro video games). When the weather is nice they have 8 tables on the back patio and several more out front. I ordered the Giant Cheeseburger, a small fry and an Iced Tea which totaled under $ 10.00. The place was packed but I snagged a chair at one of the video game tables and waited a little bit for my food. Seriously folks. This place still has the BESTBURGER on the planet. I’ve come to the realization that a burger is a burger. They all kinda taste the same but this is not so with Izzy’s. I don’t know what they do that makes it so wonderful… is it the meat? The cheese? Is it the feather weight perfectly floured bun? Some secret awesome blows of your socks sauce??? What ever it is I want more. It’s worth the 1 ½ hour long drive from my house — it’s just THAT good! I’ll admit I got a tad cheap when I ordered fries for $ 1.99 instead of Onion Rings for $ 4.49 but they were wonderful fries. Thick but not wimpy. They were golden crispy steak fries that actually had flavor an I ate them all.(Yeah…that’s hard to admit). I looked around while eating a pause for a moment thinking that I haven’t been here in a decade — and it looked exactly the same. Everything was clean and very well kept up. They certainly don’t allow the little burger spa/shack to show signs of age. Bravo!!! A+++. Go to Izzys and I promise, you will never look at any other burger with joy again.

10⁄10 for sure! I got a burger with cheese, bacon, lettuce, mayo and onions. It was AMAZING. My favorite burgers come from In n Out but this is pretty comparable in how amazing it is. My BF loved his as well. He also wants to add the bathrooms are remarkably clean. Then we got the ½ fries ½ onion rings. It’s enough for two people to share. The fries need salt but still good. Not too long of a wait too. Less than 10 mins for 2 burgers and the side.

#171 Izzy’s Burger Spa – what an interesting name for this little tiny burger shack. We walked in after a long Sierra boarding day. We were all hungry and one of my companions wanted a burger and promised they knew the best spot. He assured me they would have veggie burgers or something, so I was down. I can eat anywhere when I am that hungry. After our entrance we were greeted by a pretty girl behind the counter, there was no line; yet, the place was packed with people eating and enjoying each other. Yes, the place is quite tiny, but still it was packed and appeared to be a local favorite – that is always a plus. They had a small menu but there it was – the ‘all veggie’ burger. They also had grilled chicken and when I saw onion rings I was pretty happy. They even offered wine and beer in this little spot. We ordered a few regular burgers, the chicken sandwich with avocados, swiss and some crazy big and delicious peppers, a «cup» of white wine and a HUGE order of onion rings. The tables reminded me of the old tables at Wendy’s restaurants. When I was a kid they were the only place with a salad bar so my mommy always took us there for Tuesday night«fast food» night. That way she could eat too, while allowing us kids our fast food fare. I took pics of the tables to see if she would remember them. They have old news adds all over them so you could read and laugh at inflation, I suppose. The place was clean, the vibe was perfect for a snowy burger shack. The service was quick and friendly. I feel like we found a winner. Stephani Smiles for Izzy’s Burger Spa ;)

My husband wanted to re-live some of his fond childhood memories and visit this dive as an adult. He remembered a giant, «I mean bigger then your face» burger, loaded with the usual condiments cooked over a flame. By his description I was worried maybe we should ½ one. I ordered the onion orgy and my husband the teriyaki burger and a regular order of onion rings. Our order was served in about 10 minutes. The burgers were reminiscent of a backyard BBQ Burger, nicely assembled with fresh toppings. There was NO seasoning present on these well cooked patties. My husband recognized these patties to be previously frozen not fresh. Over all this was a good burger but nothing special. The burger is a meal easily managed by 1 person. I found it disappointing everything on the menu was al’ a carte. However we were happy to spend the extra couple bucks on the rings because they were spot on! Sadly if you enjoy dipping your crunchy rounds of joy you will be given packets of ketchup and ranch upon request. Rings that fabulous deserve homemade ranch!

Second time eating here. Most recently-1 month ago. Izzy’s Burger Spa is just on the outskirts of South Lake Tahoe on Lake Tahoe Blvd. en route west toward the«Y» intersection. You’ll find it on the right(Lake Tahoe) side of the street. Izzy’s burgers are flame broiled & each patty is 1⁄3 lb custom prepared from fresh ground meat. 10 or so creative burger selections on the menu. We shared a basket of ½ fries-½ rings that were awesome! Root beer floats were large sized & tasted fantastic! This place has won The Best of Tahoe Burger award 20+ times since they’ve opened in 1982. Inside is where you order. Seating options dining inside or on their enclosed outside patio w/2 dozen tables, each w/an umbrella. Two classic 1981 table top video games, which I claimed high score at Galaga on our last visit eating here 5 yrs + 1 month ago. Too bad Galaga was out of order this visit, as I wanted to show off to my son again. However, we played Ms. PacMan and had a great time! +Friendly service, ++Reasonable price, +++Open 7 days a week for lunch or dinner or both~! ++++I would prefer not wait another 5 years to come here, as this place is Burgerlicious!

Anything that has the name Spa and Burger, has to be worth trying. This is a mans dream come true, a burger spa. This business encourages men to go to the Spa. To spoil themselves, and lose the everyday tension and get lost in a cheeseburger and fries. Located on Lake Tahoe Blvd, the restaurant has ample parking, with seating both in and outside. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. You order what type of spa treatment you want inside, and they deliver it to the table. I ordered the cheeseburger, medium rare, so i am sure it got a massage, with tomatoes, onions, and pickles. I wanted all the vegetables to add to the spa experience. On top of the patty is cheddar cheese melted I am sure with hot stone. The meat they use is fresh not frozen, and charbroiled over a open flame which adds even more flavor. The fries were cooked just right, and one order is enough for two people. It is to bad this spa is so far away from sparks, I could see myself getting a makeover weekly

I seem to be in a bit of a burger mode lately, and up here at Lake Tahoe there’s a lot of places to choose from. A Unilocal friend of mine suggested Izzy’s Burger Spa. No there is no spa here, just burgers, funny name though. Any weekend up here at Tahoe in the summer it’s bound to be crowded, and this was no exception. The parking situation here is sort of tight and you might have to park down the street and walk. We just happen to be super lucky and someone was just pulling out. We go in and stand in line. The menu is up behind the cashier, but you can’t really read it till you get up front. If you have a second person, best to have one stand in line and the other grab a table spot. Inside is not very nice to sit as it crowded with everybody standing in line and is sort of stuffy. OK, looking at the menu I see they are 1⁄3 lb patties … not my fave size but I see there is an option for an extra patty for $ 1.79 so I go for a double patty on the Bacon Cheddar burger($ 8.08), my BF gets the Onion Orgy($ 4.79) and we share the Frings(onion rings/fries) for($ 4.99). My BF wanted both raw and the grilled onions on his burger. No beer here I didn’t see, so just waters to drink. Total was about $ 20. We ended up sharing a table with another couple as it was pretty crowded. They’ll bring you food out to you and yell your name. Considering how crowded it was, the food actually came out pretty fast. Those kitchen guys are on fast mode! Part of the problem when the kitchen goes so fast, is the order can get messed up. The onion orgy burger that was suppose to have both raw and grilled onions had only raw, so we had to go back up and get the grilled onions on the side. The burgers just come plopped into a paper basket with no wrapping so you can grab it with your hands and not have juice running all over. Well, turns out, juices were not a problem, CAUSETHEREWERENOJUICES! A good burger should be juicy and flavorful. There were no juices running in my burger anywhere upon my first bite and any bites after that. I did get the double meat between my squishy white bread buns, but they too were dry. I could tell the meat quality was not the greatest by the texture and grind. The bun were not toasted at all and cool to the touch … a big no no in the world of burgers! The bacon I got was super thin sliced, but there was an ample amount. The onion burger was helped by the large amount of grilled onions we stuffed in it. But really nothing to get excited over at all, definitely not worth the wait and crowds. The onion rings are of the corn meal coated variety, versus the puffy battered type. I liked the rings fine, but my BF hates those kind and rather had the puffy battered ones. The fries were standard frozen fries. I hate to be the negative Nancy here, but this was not one of the better burger experiences I’ve had. Looking at the crowds, there are many that do seem to like the place. The meat did have a charbroiled flavor, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. It felt like not a lot of care went into the burgers here, but maybe you can’t if the grill is just cranking as fast as it can to feed all the people. The experience might be better when it’s slower and you might be able to tell the cooks exactly what you want … toasted buns, mayo or 1000 island dressing inside the burger, more lettuce etc. I’m sorry to say I won’t be coming back as there are other better options for burgers in the South Lake Tahoe area. Izzy’s may have been better years ago, but not so good now.

Great quality burgers. Loved the onion rings and cheddar bacon burgers. The outdoor sitting Was shaded and had a nice breeze. Do not judge this place from the look of it, it may look like a hole in a wall but they know burger.

Nice cashier, cute outdoor patio, bomb french fries. Two beers on tap. Small burgers. And food poisoning. Yup, my brother-in-law got a nasty case of food poisoning from his chicken sandwich. Called to talk to the manager and let them know the next day and there was no apology, no concern, no care whatsoever. There’s tons of other awesome places in this town. Y’all are awful.

While on vacation, driving back to the house we were staying at; we decided to grab a burger rather than grocery shop with the dog in our car. This place smelled so good when we drove by, and it’s by far one of the best burger places I’ve ever been to. My Granddaughter had a bacon cheddar burger with everything on it, and ate half(it’s a big burger), she didn’t pick ANYTHING off of it! I had a chili cheese dog; they add onions and relish — it was delicious! We shared a small order of onion rings, and couldn’t finish them. Our dog was able to come and sit with us on the patio, and they provided water for her too! Great place, friendly staff! I didn’t give five stars because of the very small parking lot.

It had been a few years since I ate at Izzy’s and this most recent time was not as good as I remember it being. They still have a nice flame grilled 1⁄3 lb burger but the bun to meat ratio was still off a little. Same for the cheese, the burger could benefit from a bit more cheese. The meat didn’t have that much seasoning or flavor but at least you could tell it was flame broiled. The veggies were fresh but the bun is just a plain, store bought variety.

yummy giant burgers! In Lake Tahoe for the day with family and looking for a place to get a quick bite. Found this little burger joint close by to where we were and stopped here to eat. Inside seats about 20(that includes the two video arcade table/games that seats two each). Lots of outdoor seating on the side and front of the diner with picnic tables and umbrellas. Of course, it was too cold to sit outside and so everyone packed the inside. Bathroom is right there in the dining area too. Anyway, we both ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger and enjoyed it. It was a good size and made fresh as you order. Lots of mushrooms and the meat was tasty and juicy! It did not come with fries. Sold separately. Drink refills are $.50. Aside from burgers, also included in their menu is fish and chips, calamari sandwich, and some poultry choices… chicken teriyaki or sandwich. Staff was friendly and helpful. You place your order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. Small place but seems to be popular with the locals. Parking is very limited in a private lot. Hope to be back again one day.
