Its dissapointing that they dont carry plus size clothing. I know fat people arent as active so maybe there isnt money to be made. But you should atleast have a small selection they dont even carry much XL’s. other wise its a nice clean store with almost a little bit of everything.

We had an unusual rental request and they were totally cool about it and rented it to us no problem. Definitely the only sporting goods place we’ll go to in Tahoe!

Absolutely awesome! Shout out to the best service ever in a bike repair shop. So it’s 2 days before tahoe 100 mile cycle ride and I do the run out to Blue lakes, Towards the top I go a little too fast through some patches of snow. I end up messing up my rear tire in a recovery to keep from falling.(no I did not fall) instead of trying to price gouge or sell me a rim, they simply did a «tire true» for $ 15 and fixed it perfectly. 2 days later I’m going 53 mph down emerald bay decent with no issues. Sports ltd bike repair shop was amazing!(yes, I did tip the repair shop)

These guys fit me and did a heat-mold on my backcountry ski boots. They were knowledgeable, friendly, fast and reasonably priced. My boots feel great! Highly recommended. Good bootfitters are hard to find, but these guys are the real deal.(There’s also a great dog to play with while you wait)

I wouldn’t even think going anywhere else to get Ski equipment in Tahoe. They are very knowledgable and they will give you a discount if you spend over a couple hundred dollars.

Be careful renting from Tahoe sports Ltd. From very beginning our interchange with the company was a negative experience. They have a grumpy man that insulted three of the four people in my party. My skis flipped out of bindings standing in lift line on second day and for some reason it was all my fault. They did refund me for two of the days but only after heated discussion. If you get on the mountain and have a problem you are stuck. It is a long hike back to store for correction and having paid enormous fees for lift tickets makes it a terrible situation to correct.

I haven’t enjoyed skiing in probably close to 10 years. For the last decade, I’ve been renting skis and boots and I’m often howling in miserable pain by the time lunchtime comes around because the boots might as well be medieval torture devices. This year, I figured I wouldn’t bother skiing unless I had some good comfortable boots. I walked in here the day before Thanksgiving, driven here primarily by the great Unilocal reviews. I can now add my own rave for Tahoe Sports and especially John who spent countless hours making sure my ski boots would fit like a glove. As I sat down, John approached me and I asked him if he had ski boots that would fit me. I have huge calves. Without even measuring my foot, he immediately went back and found boots that fit my foot perfectly. The calves, however, would require some custom work. John spent countless hours customizing my Head Ezon ski boots, moving the buckles to turn them into bespoke boots that are comfortable and still provide support where I need it. He spent quite a few hours on Wednesday, and again on Thanksgiving morning when I came back for final adjustments. His perfectionism ensured that when I got out on the slopes the next day, I would truly have an enjoyable ski experience. He didn’t even charge me for all the custom labor he performed. The guy’s seriously a saint! I cannot speak highly enough of John at Tahoe Sports. He has truly made my year. I finally have comfortable ski boots and with an El Nino year that looks poised to dump a ton of fresh snow on the mountains, I’ll definitely be enjoying this ski season!

Excellent staff and great recommendations. My girlfriend and I wanted to try some new snow activities, so they recommended snow shoeing. Hooked us up for a very cheap price for the shoes and boots. They also gave us a great recommendation on where to go for the best view and terrain(Red Lake and Blue Lake near Hope Valley). If you’re going to rent supplies come here!!!

The day has come to retire the OLD river shoes and hiking boots, so headed on down this morning to get new ones. I really like the selection of Merrells that were available. Having a local sporting gear store is nice because they carry the higher end gear that I want and they give a «LOCAL» discount too. Double good whammy, I think! The national chain store that I will not mention does NOT have either! Oh, and my river shoes were also on sale($ 30 clams off) YEP it just kept getting better! Since I saved that money, a new pair of sunglasses made it into the booty! The staff is knowledgable and really nice. They even have a mock rock scaling platform I could try my new boots on, to check out the grip and fit of my new boots… If you are looking for great gear, service and prices with a local feel, CHECKTHESEGUYSOUT for sure! This is a fantastic store. At first appearance we thought it was just like sport chalet and were expecting a pretty generic experience. However, this store is a specialized gem. We wanted to rent mountain bikes on July 4th weekend. They have nice good quality Specialized bikes to rent. They were sold out when we arrived but John was nice enough to call us when a couple bikes our size came in. He spent quite a bit of time with us getting the suspension tuned up for us and fitting the bikes. He even gave us a lock and flat kit to borrow. Then gave us some great pointers on trails. Super nice and helpful guy. When we were out on our first ride the knob to the rear suspension broke. We took the bike back in and they swapped it out super quick. The store also had an amazing amount of climbing equipment and nice clothing and footwear selection. We will definitely return on our next trip to Tahoe.

I cannot say enough good things about Tahoe Sports LTD. I have had mishaps on both my road bike and mountain bike, and these guys have stepped up to help me get back on the road or trail. If people experience less than timely customer service it is only because they are really crowded. I myself have experienced normal waits for service and have no problem waiting because I know the time they spend with the people ahead of me, will get me quality time when its my turn. Thanks for your help today Aaron!!!

Needed some stuff for a short trip, emergency and non-emergency. Staff was helpful, flexible, funny, knowledgeable. Lots of inventory, great selection, good prices. Hot lady at checkout with tattoos also a plus. Their website does not really give you a good indication of the products they carry, so they might want to show more there, it seems to just focus on ski rentals.

I’m a loyal customer wherever I go. You only took the return because it had a tag on. You’re solely basing it on tags. We were stuck in a hotel the whole entire time. My son walked out of the store and guess what, it wasn’t raining. I’m returning an item because I have no use for it since there was no snow. It’s clearly rude and impolite when you make a comment that you get this all the time when people try to return items. Yes I’m a customer but I’m not a customer that tries to get over someones return policy and the fact is you refused to take it back only because the tags were off.

Sports Ltd has been our primary winter sports store for 15+ years. Two adult skiers and two kids learning to ski with Buddy Werner and on to 4 years of high school ski racing. Can’t count the number of skis, boots, bindings, mounts, waxes, etc. that we purchased over the years — but we’ve always had a good experience and they always worked with us on the price. I’ve got ‘special’ feet and the boot fitters here have always done me right. There are other great winter sports stores around Tahoe(Start Haus in Truckee for exapmle), in South Shore this is where we go.

If you’re in the South Lake Tahoe area and you need ski boots… this is the place to go! They have an ahhhhmazing selection of ski boots and gear. They also have Jacob… Jacob will never give up on finding you a ski boot that fits… even if you have tiny lower profile feet with tiny heels. My boyfriend and I must have spent a total of almost 4 hours there finding the perfect ski boots for our weird feet.(Seriously…Jacob has the patience of a saint) Jacob installed our cork foot beds and heating elements into our boots and did a wonderful job. We went through multiple fittings and he made sure the boots fit us properly before we left the store. This is one of the best snow shops I’ve ever been to. The prices are very fair… I did some price comparison online and they’re pretty much about the same. I definitely recommend them for your gear and rental needs.

Great selection of gear and rentals. Fair prices. Knowledgeable staff. Jacob must have the patience of a saint to have fitted my pain in the ass girlfriend and I with ski boots. But after hours of trying things on, we found the perfect boots and he got our cork foot beds and heating elements installed as well. He even took us through multiple fittings, tweaking the liners and beds or, as he put it, performing«boot voodoo» until they were perfect. Totally awesome shop, will continue to go whenever we are in the Tahoe area.

Awesome place for bike rentals in the dry season, the parking lot is a great place to keep your car and set off from here off to your adventure along Lake Tahoe Boulevard to Sprouts Café, Pope Beach, and Camp Richardson all the way to Baldwin Beach. In the winter, this is the best place to rent skis or snowboards in the area. Price is reasonable and the staff are super friendly and easy to work with. Lots of gear for whatever outdoor activity you are into as well.

This review is for the ski rental dept. We have rented from here 5 – 6 times. They are a full service ski/board/telemarke ski shop. Coolest most patient clerks going. But you usually get that in Tahoe so not too big of a surprise. I really want to purchase my own gear and not have to rent but by the time i get home the magic wears off and well I don’t. When I rent again I will jot down my ski & boot size and find out if I can reserve my gear before I get there.(hopefully i will purchase my own gear…) Note: we go here cause one in my group is a telemarke skier and they have telemarke skis that he likes to rent. Parking tip: You can drive BEHIND Raleys end up on the side of Tahoe Sports LTD. This is great especially on a cold snowy day. You will be steps from the front door. shhh!

This is a great store to look at if you’re in need of any snow gear or clothing. The staff here is pretty helpful if you are looking for anything in particular. I was looking for a light weight shell for snow mobiling so I didn’t have to wear my big snow boarding pants and was able to find something easily. I paid $ 90 for Mountain Hardwear shell pants that I can easily pull over other winter clothing. It’s very light weight and water resistant. I was happy to find when looking at other websites that these were not marked up at all. Same price on Mountain Hardwear’s website and REI. I love the store dog, a loving black lab who just roams around the store and greets customers as they come and go. So adorable!
