Love this bakery. They make a good sandwich and the donuts are delicious.

SL Village Bakery, I’m not sure that I should thank you or curse you for making the most delicious cake that I have ever eaten! You have ruined me! No other cake will ever measure up to your moist(yet not heavy) cherry chip cake, topped with a whipped white frosting, with almost a 1:1 ratio of cake to topping. Not overly sweet, and deceptively light enough that I could eat… Well, way too much of it if you caught me in a moment of weakness. The cake was amazing, and I cannot wait to try more of your sweet delights! Bravo!

We used to get doughnuts here now and again, and they were good. We needed to bring a dessert to a Christmas Eve family party once and ran out of time to make something, so my husband ordered a baklava tray from here. It was expensive($ 40 if I remember correctly)…and there were about 15 or 20 pieces or so. On our way to the party, we stopped at Aldi’s or Gordon’s to get paper plates… and my husband saw the Exact.Same.Baklava tray there for $ 10. He bought it so we could compare. It was unmistakably the same, down to the chocolate drizzle on the pieces. So, this bakery bought the baklava in bulk from this place and resold it at a huge margin. We will never go back.

We get all our cakes here. Now most of our friends do too. The airplane cake that they did for my son’s birthday was just awesome.

I like to go in for a roast beef or turkey sandwich on pretzel bread for lunch. Have also had it on wheat and it’s excellent. It can be a bit of a wait if there’s anyone else ahead of you, since there’s usually only one person behind the counter that time of day. Their donuts are great if they’re fresh — there can be some older ones in the case, so just ask. There are definitely a couple of specialty pastries with a large selection of iced sugar cookies and bulk cookies in a box. They sell bread that I do believe is made on the premises, but I’m never there early enough to know.

This place was disgusting. I am so shocked to see reviews above a 3, especially when decent bakeries like Marv’s aren’t that far away. This place is horrible. Do they even make anything there themselves? I got a jelly-filled donut, and it tasted several days old. My wife got a muffin and it also tasted several days stale. I saw another customer get a toasted bagel with cream cheese, and they looked brought-in, too. The cupcakes and cakes were embarassing. What a shame. My wife worked in a bakery for many years, and she didn’t want to touch half of the things in that display case. Yuck.

I give 5 stars because they are the only bakery that I have found that carries my favorite pastry. Some people call them Danish crisps, here they call them cinnamon crisps. They have been my favorite thing since I was a kid and they are hard to find. Finding a recipe is even harder. Basically the thing is about 10 inches across thin-ish, and round. It is crispy and flaky and covered in crunchy yummy cinnamon and sugar. It makes an enormous mess, I like to eat it over the tissue paper it comes on so that I can gather and eat the crumbs. I don’t waste a morsel! I could eat, like, 3 if I had no self control. I also had a pizza roll today, available only on Wednesday and Friday. It was pretty good. The sauce was a little sweet but since they don’t put on a ton of it, it doesn’t ruin the roll. They also do birthday cakes. They have a decent selection of muffins, bread, cookies and donuts. And they have a deli. I have not had the opportunity to try these but they look really good. I found myself thinking«why don’t I stop in here more often» as I left the bakery today and answered myself pretty quickly. It’s because if I did I would eat myself into a food induced coma!
