I have 2 little ones in the junior hapkido classes. My son started about a year and half ago and my daughter recently joined. They go once a week and we pay $ 140 a month and worth every penny. Master Kim, Mr. Taylor, Ms. Castle and Mr. Castle are the best! We noticed a huge difference in our kids when they started training. They are learning discipline, structure, respect, commitment, confidence and how to react in dangerous situations. I like that they don’t let the kids run around do whatever they are firm but yet warm with the students. They all treat you like you’re family, it’s such a great environment. I can’t thank them enough for what they do for these kids, all the instructors are so caring and really take the time to know each kid. They truly have a passion for martial arts and humanity, it’s remarkable to see this in this day and age. I highly recommend Kim’s Hapkido!

Ok my son has been going here a lot and he loves it. They are so good with kids. The reason why I gave a five is because of a recent event. A bigger kid was playfully punching but could tell some didn’t want anything to do with it. Well they saw and had a talk with him about that in front of all the kids. They even took a stripe away and talked to his mom. Talk about nipping or trying to teach a kid that bullying is not ok. Let’s see if he learns the lesson in life.

I’ve now been going here for 3 years. My son is a blue belt and I’m a brown belt. Several friends of mine have been going too. The staff continue to be encouraging yet demanding. Adult classes are usually about 5 – 10 in size, occasionally as small as 2. Classes with kids are usually much bigger, but you will still get personalized instruction as there will be several instructors available during the detailed«technique» portion of the class. I have absolutely no regrets about signing up 3 years ago and hope to continue to black belt and beyond.

I’d give a hundred stars if I could. My family and I have known Master Kim and family for over 10 years. When I mean family, I don’t just mean his personal family but every instructors at the studio. Since 2001 and until 2008 Kim’s Hapkido had been a home away from home. The best form of discipline, self control, defense and respect I have ever been taught. All the instructors are wonderful, love children and are impeccably trained. I highly recommend it for every parents looking into enrolling your children into a martial art studio. After a decade of affiliation with the studio, you never lose your family. It was the best thing my mom enrolled my brothers, my sister and myself in– I kid you not! It was a real family affair! That’s how much we loved Kim’s Hapkido!

My children have been here for almost a year and they love it. Master Kim and every single one of the instructors are great with the kids. Mr. Taylor, Mr. Castle, Ms. Castle, etc. are great motivating and instructing kids of all ages. Looked into Tae Kwon Do, being Korean-American, but I can’t take it seriously when all you need is about 2 years and $$$ to get black belt. End up with a bunch of kids that say they have black belt but can’t perform a proper kick or punch. It’s become so commercialized. And as a fighting technique, it only focuses on kicking and punching when most fights are up close. There are four ranges of fighting: kicking, punching, trapping, and grappling. Hapkido covers all four ranges. Learned that from this article: It looked interesting so now I“m in my 2nd month of Hapkido. Night classes for adults. Warning: Major workout!!! I also like jujitsu and will probably add that to my workout, but not for my kids. Way too aggressive. Maybe when they get into their teens. For kids, Hapkido is perfect and something that they can continue training for a long time. And Master Kim and his instructors at Kim’s Hapkido are great working with kids.

We started my son with Mr. Kim’s studio about 5 years ago because it came very highly recommended by a friend. We have always been welcomed and cared for at Mr. Kim’s studio. Mr. Kim and all the instructors are gifted teachers, very good with children and teach respect, responsibility, discipline and goal setting. I always envisioned my son taking a martial art, but didn’t know which one. I am so happy we found Kim’s Hapkido. It has been a wonderful thing in my son’s life and in our life as a family. I would highly recommend this studio.

I love this place for my son. Mr Kim teaches all kids really good lessons. They are some of things I would teach my kid any way, but kids seem to respond well when it is someone else. If your kid needs to good strong male figure in their life this is a good place. We are in for the long haul on this one.

I take my 4 year old boy to the Junior Hapki program that they have at this dojo. They have been doing a good job with my boy who is on the hyper side, which is the reason why we enrolled him in the first place. The three instructors, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Wheeler and Master Kim(Son of the main guy that brought this kind of Hapkido to the states) are very nice and have a lot of patience. My only complaint is to the mothers(some dads) in the waiting room. If you want to have a conversation, do it like you’re at the library and not at a frickin concert screaming your head off. My kid is trying to concentrate.
