I ordered closely to 60 wings for pick up, it was my first time there, and I like it, the island dry is the best.

The wings here are nothing to write home about. We probably won’t be back. But if you’re just looking to get your wing fix its available in the area. I swung by in the morning to get some coffee and found these sitting in the rain… you can form your own judgement based on the buns sitting in the rain.

What makes this place so great? I’m a big fan of the Velocity Wings with spicy garlic and spicy thai. My wife really likes the naked tossed wings with honey mustard and spicy BBQ. We got wings for a couple parties and everyone always says the wings are really tasty. However what really pushed the rating of this place was the service I received over the phone on two different occasions. As someone new to ordering at Velocity Wings, I basically needed guidance the whole way. Mind you this was on a busy Sunday afternoon with games going on. The young lady who took my order took the time to make sure I not only ordered what I wanted but also made sure the order was correct and I was satisfied with the order. This isn’t the type of service I expected but I was more than happy to receive such great service.

Still the same poor service as last time. Guess I should learn my lesson. Decent food but not good enough for the poor service. If you have lots of time this may be the place for you.

Food was excellent. It was also very family-friendly and a great place to catch a game.

When it comes to wings, this place has it figured out!!! I’m a fan of the dry rub wings and they have a couple choices so keep up the great work

Came here for lunch. Was sat immediately, got our drinks at 12:35. And then our waiter never came back. At 12:51 we left money for our drinks and walked out. I’m sorry but waiting 15 minutes for your server to come back or at least acknowledge you at all so that you can order is ridiculous. Terrible. Not coming back.

Velocity wings raised their prices with their new menu. It’s gotten a little pricy for the grilled wings which are the ones I personally like best and it’s a little hard to swallow ten wings for 13 bucks. It’s much more reasonable to pay 21 bucks for 20. I’m adding to my review. We ordered 20 wings grilled for take out. I got ten grilled and ten deep fried. The order taker for take out checked the ticket and it was indeed for 20 grilled. I asked her if she checked the order. She said she did but apparently she didn’t notice ten of them were not grilled. Kind of a pain to bring back the order they got wrong but it’s my only recourse. They did not offer anything beyond allowing us to exchange them. Not that I asked for anything free to make up for the inconvenience — but offering something for my troubles would have been the best move I think, even if I would have said that wasn’t necessary. I unfortunately have experienced problems with orders from here more than a few times. I think there is room for improvement both for the kitchen staff and greeters/take out order takers. I had to change my review to two stars due to multiple problems with orders not being fulfilled correctly. Unfortunate because I like the place and want it to succeed. But they still seem to be struggling a bit on the food execution.

My husband is wing obsessed and was counting down the days until this place opened given its proximity to our house. We eat here(either in-house or take-out) at least a couple times a month. He loves to get the breaded wings with smokey BBQ — though I think he’s tried almost every flavor. He says this is his favorite wing place in NoVA. I like wings significantly less though I have had theirs and they are pretty good as far as wings go. I’m a big fan of their chicken philly and sweet potato fries. Earlier this year they had a non-menu appetizer that was something to the effect of BBQ chicken dip and was spectacular but they said they aren’t making it anymore, unfortunately. Fried pickles are great though. I love that they have Bold Rock on tap — and the outside seating is great in nice weather. Service has always been excellent — very friendly. My only gripe is their burgers. I have tried them several times and everytime it tastes overly cooked — they char it and it leaves this terrible taste in my mouth that is rather unappetizing. I always order my burgers medium but they seem to interpret that as well done, which I am not a fan of.

Unless you are sitting at the bar, service is horrible. Almost embarrassingly so. It was not busy and they had a few people behind the bar. I ordered drinks(beer), and after 15 mins I got up and left. No water, no drinks, no service… I won’t be returning here anytime soon or getting take out from them. I would rate you zero but I have to give a rating.

There’s just nothing special about Velocity Wings. We came on a Monday and got a couple burgers, but I’d go to Red Robin if it wasn’t half-priced. The bun was coming apart and sticking to my fingers! Added 5 wings to both burgers(garlic parm and spicy cajun). The garlic parm was definitely lacking flavor and the spicy Cajun was OK. If I want wings, I’ll go the extra few miles to Buffalo Wing Factory in rt 50. Brought my 3 year old and she ordered the mac and cheese wedge kids meal. Sorry, but the ones you can get from Sheeetz gas station is better. Service was definitely lacking. First, our server came up, did not say hi or introduced herself, just looked at us and finally said«drinks?» I know it’s a sports bar, but it was weird. She was nice enough, but she was never around when we needed her and there was only a couple people at the bar and maybe 2 – 3 other tables. The place was dead, but again, we came on a Monday night, so that was expected. However, she also forgot my appetizer order and I really wanted my southwest eggrolls. There’s just really nothing about the place that would make me go back again unless someone else in the group wanted to go. Not a fav, but not awful. It’s just forgettable.

This is the second time we came here. As expected, the wings were good but the service was terrible last night. I knew we had a brand new server when I asked what they had on tap, and he had to show me his cheat sheet. I used to be a server in high school, so I know how hard it can be first starting out. I will always tip 20%, even for a new person if they TRY. I ordered a big order of hot wings, and my tall beer was about empty. My wife asked for another round, but he never came back with the drinks. After waiting around ten minutes, I went to the bar and got our drinks. Rule #1 for any server — you make your money on alcohol, not the food. ALWAYS make sure those drinks are topped off, especially at a wing stop! I left him 13%, and a note telling him to always make sure your table has drinks. The wings are really good, so I will brush off the poor service.

I dont even know how to write this post. I’m exhausted from the experience. I will start by saying that this was our first visit and it’s important to me to support local small business owners in my community. 1. We came on a Friday evening, it wasn’t too busy and there was outdoor music with corn hole for the kids… we were promptly seated indoors bc outside was full. Ok, cool, no issue. 2. We sat for over 10 minutes before my husband had to flag a kid down so that he could ask if anyone was going to take a drink order… someone came 5 minutes later… we ordered drinks and meals. Drinks delivered quickly. 3. Our nachos arrived, asked for napkins and silverware — never got them — ate the nachos until it was no longer possible to do with your fingers… flagged another person down and asked about napkins and silverware again — we were told that they were rolling silverware, thinking… «no need to roll them, just bring me a dang fork so I can eat before this pile of mess congeals»… 5 minutes later I walked to the front and asked for the manager… the forks arrived — a manager didn’t… Nachos were decent, tons of cheese my husband commented that they will be out of business soon bc they won’t be able to continue to buy the cheese… who complains about too much cheese? 4. Food came, it was as expected. 5. Needed a refill — a guy in a different colored shirt walked by(probably a manager), we grabbed him — asked for the refill… 2 sweet teas, a sprite and a pepsi… he promptly returns and sets the drinks down… «DIABETES for you, DIABETES for you, a sprite and a pepsi» — — - I stared in disbelief. DIABETES!!! wait… what!!!(I actually am insulin resistant and take medication for it) I had a craptastic day at work and I wanted to eat crap for dinner, comfort food, wings… I certainly didn’t want to be judged for my choices. I’m a nurse and found this sarcasm to be both unprofessional and insensitive. I have sweet tea once a freaking week and this idiot just ruined that for me… all I could do was laugh in disbelief… 6. When they do finally come with your check, have your card ready to hand right over, dont let them walk away, if they do — you’ll wait another 20 minutes to pay. The majority of concerns on here are related to the lack of service excellence — it obviously isn’t a concern of management because nothing has been done about it. I was very disappointed and won’t be back…(I shouldn’t have gotten that sweet tea, I feel disgusting now — he was right, not the best choice for a diabetic — he should have kept his mouth shut though, its not his business to condemn my unhealthy choices…) Service sucked. There aren’t many restaurant choices — this place should be FULL on a Friday night but it wasn’t… and I just explained why… I’ll drive to Gainesville next time I want wing and sweet tea!

We have had the burgers, take-out, numerous times and have always enjoyed them up until the past two times. The roll was dry seemingly stale and the burgers were not cooked as requested. We also paid extra to get some wings and we had requested boneless to come with both burgers. We got one bone in and one boneless. This seems to be the norm with take-out always something wrong and not worth calling or going back for the correction unless something major. one time we got the totally wrong order, however they were very nice about it although annoying to have to drive back to fetch. Will we go back? I’m not sure at this point. Red Robin is close by and makes a awesome burger juicy and with no problems AND its cheaper! Nothing super special about this place

On the weekends they have a burger and wing special for $ 9.95. It’s for their velocity burger and 5 wings, but for an additional charge they can do any other burger you want. The waiter was really nice who happened to also be the bartender. He was helpful and tentative and checked back in decent amount of times. I got their terminal wings. It says that it has ghost peppers in it. As a spicy food lover, it was not that spicy. It was equal to a hot or one above a hot at any other restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, it was spicy, but with ghost peppers in it I was expecting something more hot. I also got their firecracker burger. Since the waiter had to do add ons for me to get it as close to the firecracker burger for me, I’m not sure if I really liked it or not. The burger was burnt and I could taste the burn of the grill and I didn’t like that too much. The layout of the burger made it hard to eat the burger as the tomatoes and jalepeno peppers made the burger move around too much and it was also shredded lettuce. I would definitely go back to try other stuff, it seems like they also have pretty good happy hour deals so I’ll be back to check them out. It’s ok for a local area in the neighborhood, but not my first choice to go out with friends.

Service was fast and friendly. True to their name, they have Buffalo Wild Wings and Bön Chon beat on speed alone. I always feel ready to chew my arm off when I got to those other wing joints because the wait is so agonizingly long. Ordered the Terminal Wings and Spicy Garlic Wings in a traditional toss. The Terminal is made with ghost peppers. Very spicy and vinegary. I’d love the same heat with a little sweetness. The Spicy Garlic had a distinct butter flavor. Overall. Great first visit. We will be back for all-you-can-eat wings on Wednesdays with our ravenous teenagers.

We decided to wait to try Velocity Wings hoping they worked out the kinks that many have already written about. There are not a lot of choices in the South Riding area so we were willing to give Velocity a try. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago for a beer and some wings. We sat at the bar and waited. We waited a good ten minutes if not longer to simply be acknowledged because three employee were at the beer taps trying to figure out how they got the lines crossed. No offer of a drink, not even a glass of water and apology for our wait. Against our better judgment, we stayed. The menu offered fried or grilled wings and a great variety of sauces. We had plenty of time to review(the menus were already at the bar) while the three employees continued to try to figure out the keg lines. Finally, someone stopped by to take our drink order. We ordered beer and wings at the same time not wanting to risk another long wait. We wanted the grilled wings, but were told right away they take a really long time to prepare. Since they didn’t seem to want to grill the wings, we just had the naked wings fried. We ordered ten wings and were able to select 2 different sauces. My husband ordered hot while I chose the spicy Thai. I liked the flavor of the Thai sauce, my husband preferred the hot. To me the hot tasted like tabasco — I didn’t care for the vinegar flavor. I will say that service at the bar was fine after the initial wait. For a place that advertises their wings as «world famous» and«jumbo», I expected larger, juicier wings. These were a tad dry and certainly not jumbo. My Devil’s Backbone lager was cold and delicious. I will not be rushing back as there are better wings to be had even in the ‘burbs of South Riding.

Wanted to prove everyone wrong. Even after all the negative reviews we want to try it out. What a mistake. I thought Ashton Kucher was going to hop out of my closet when I got home — telling me I was on punk’d. We got an assortment of things to try out. we got 10 boneless wings, 10 bone-in wings, fried pickles, a side of sweet potato fries and a grilled chicken sandwich. The boneless chicken wings were the size of the tip of my thumb.(See pics). The bone-in chicken wings were order hot flavor and had barely any sauce on it whatsoever. So little that they weren’t even hot. This sweet potato fries were completely soggy(take a look at the photograph you can see I bent them over the container.) My girlfriends grilled chicken sandwich was charred and extremely dry. No quality control. On a positive note, and the reason why they didn’t get one star, the ride pickles were good and the service was great. We did not wait a long time like some of the other reviewers posted. — but it was a Sunday night. $ 50 down the tubes.

I went on a Friday and this place was super packed both at the bar, people waiting, and a long pick up order group. I guess that’s what happens when all of the suburban moms who live in loudoun county can’t bare to leave their 5 mile radius… So when my husband and I got there, we were told we had a 15 minute wait, luckily we found the only bar tabletop and we seated ourselves. The downside is there is no designated server to the table top, instead the bar tenders are your waiters and the one waiter for the tables across from the bar comes and goes as well. We got 3 wings 10 of the velocity wings(breaded), 10 Parmesan garlic wings, 10 Georgia peanut wings. The wings are okay, they’re kind of pricey for the amount that you get … my husband was hoping for a creamy garlic parmesan type wing instead of like a naked wing with some cheap parmsean out of a box sprinkled on top with garlic butter… the georgia peanut was like a light peanut butter(which actually tasted better the second day baked as leftovers). the Velocity breaded wings with terminal sauce on the side was probably my favorite. the terminal sauce isn’t too spicy… and it doesn’t have that plastic taste that super spicy sauces have… I would come back… maybe mid week… when it’s not overly crowded with super needy families.

We’ve been here twice now… and even if we weren’t moving out of the area I don’t think I would ever come back here. I KNOW that there are some grand opening pains when it comes to restaurants. But thats why you’re supposed to do soft openings with invited family and friends to make sure your servers know what they’re doing. The problem isn’t that they don’t have staff, but appears to be untrained staff. The first time I was there, it was a few days after they opened, I watched one guy literally running back and forth instead of going to his station and taking orders all around and then coming back with drinks for all. Back and forth, back and forth. BUT thats not their issue. Its going come down to their food. My husband ordered what was the smallest gyro this side of the Mississippi. There was literally NO meat in the thing and when he tried to tell a Manager his disappointment with the sandwich given the $ 10 price tag, all she countered with was, well its 3 oz of meat. And real lamb gyro. Seriously? You’re charging us $ 10 for 3 oz of meat… Let me introduce you to Wallys… Their gyro plate for $ 10 could literally feed 3 grown people. There is so much gyro meat there and… its the real deal. So disappointment aside, we went back because we had no choice. We were tired from house showings and just needed a drink and some food nearby. I definitely don’t know how much alcohol was in my fuzzy navel but considering my face color never changed, I’m thinking it was mostly orange juice! The wings were ok but nothing to write home about. But this time, to MY disappointment, half my food was cold. The sandwich was fine, but the fries were just cold. Not even lukewarm, but cold. Where were they sitting I wonder? So I asked them about it and they brought out new fries. This time they looked like they were hot, but you could also see the oil on them? That probably means the temp of the oil wasn’t quite hot enough… I dunno, but meh, I’ve had better at McDonalds. We like that the booths have TVs for your own viewing pleasure, but honestly this isn’t a really comfortable place and the servers need to be better trained. But what’s going to ruin this place? The food… the food is just mediocre to subpar. Save your money, just go somewhere else.
