Oh Plaza Café… where to begin?! We first came here for Valentine’s Day last year and enjoyed the delicious prix fixe lobster themed menu. Everything was beyond delicious and we still daydream about how amazing this meal was! We got to return this February for a second visit to Southampton and made sure to come here for dinner again. We were seated right next to the fireplace and enjoyed fantastic service from John throughout the night! They have a great wine list and full bar as well. We opted for calamari and pumpkin lobster bisque as our appetizers and loved both! For the main meals, we went for the prosciutto wrapped shrimp with Risotto and the horseradish trout with mashed potatoes. All were so well done and made with fresh ingredients! Really can’t go wrong here and would highly recommend a meal here. Tips: –they accept reservations via open table –in the winter request a table near the fireplace, so cozy and warm! –they have a separate bar menu with food options — might be a way to experience a taste of their delicious food in a less expensive way

I was a bit reluctant to try this given the $$$ level, but the horseradish encrusted cod was incredibly good and well worth the $ 31. Appetizers and desserts were excellent and an interesting wine selection as well. Service is friendly and attentive.

Always a go to great experience. Wonderful staff & food. The atmosphere is more on the contemporary side, but even when very busy, the noise level is not all that bad. Probably the best resturant in the Hamptons.

Had a fantastic meal there last weekend. Perfect relaxed atmosphere and wonderful food. Wife had the scallops which were out of this world. I got the duck which was great. Asian style but not overdone. Really quality. Local calamari app was outrageous good. Berries for dessert. Look forward to returning… and summer lasting as long as possible.

Every time I head out to Southampton, I try to eat at Plaza Café. The food is always delicious, and the people who work here are very nice. The scallops are amazing, as well as the shrimp and prosciutto, seafood pot pie, and even their steak. The best restaurant in Southampton!

«If you need to show off — this is the place» Beautiful décor And prices to match. As exotic as the menu was, I had difficulty finding anything that truly whet my appetite. There are many other restaurants in town to sample first.

My wife and I love this place. It’s a hidden jewel and hidden but worth searching for. The food is spectacular the staff is great and the owner Doug is down to earth and says it like it is(Gotta Love It). I usually can’t order anything else for dinner but the Shepards Sefood Pie and my wife loves the grilled calamari with hummus. Can’t go wrong with this place.

I had a Cosmo that was very weak and very expensive at $ 13. I also had the prosciutto wrapped shrimp for appetizer and the prosciutto that was almost invisible very lackluster My main course of $ 49 salmon was also very tasteless. My husband had the seafood potpie and it seems like they don’t use salt-and-pepper or any seasonings and it also was very tasteless We went there because of the Unilocal reviews but I must say even at two stars it’s overrated

This is a nice spot in Southampton with great seafood in a pleasant setting. I had the horseradish encrusted cod, which was very tasty. The bed of mashed potatoes under the fish were excellent. I would certainly come back to The Plaza Café but am very interested to try other places in the Hamptons.

I’m surprised that Plaza Café doesn’t have higher reviews than this. The food was fresh, the wine was good, and the ambiance was relaxing, especially with the live jazz playing throughout this homey restaurant. I started with the calamari which was grilled to perfection. I’ve never had calamari and hummus on the same plate but Plaza Café pulled it off. It was a great balance of crunchy and soft. Then, being a seafood restaurant, I decided to get the grilled white tuna to see the quality of fish they were working with. It melted in my mouth and was balanced by the acidity of the lemon olive oil and lemon confit. I was a little bit jealous though by what my Mom ordered: the seafood«pot pie.» Apparently they never really take this one off the menu because it’s so popular. It was a mix of shellfish topped with chive mashed potatoes that was toasted on the top, to form a sort of crust. My god, it was shellfish heaven. And who doesn’t love good, buttery potatoes on top? I really enjoyed everything about this meal. Not to mention, it was right across the street from our hotel!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about the best restaurant on the East End of Long Island and all of Long Island? I have been coming to this location for many years. I have NEVER been disappointed with service, the staff is friendly, professional and make you feel welcome, as if coming into their home. I dined with a very good friend and we started with a bottle of Mahoney Pinot Noir that was so smooth and flavorful. Moving onto the appetizer, the seafood chowder caught my eye and I was very happy I made this choice. It was full of meat and had a wonderful hint of spice that left me wanting to lick the bowl. For my main course, I was treated to Farafalle with Gulf shrimp in a lightly creamy white sauce with peas and prosciutto. Another case of wanting to lick the bowl, but unfortunately decorum won out… damn. The chef/owner came out to the floor several times and spoke with customers. He truly seemed to care about our experience and you could tell he cares about his livelihood. Do not pass up this location. You will not be disappointed.

Dropped in Friday night at the last minute, initially lured in by the menu offerings with hopes of getting the prixe fix. Unfortunately, the prixe fix is offered only certain periods of the week/season but the food was amazing and priced appropriately. I sampled a medley of apps for a meal: the prosciutto wrapped shrimp with risotto was incredible — I could eat the risotto as an entire meal, the tuna and crab tian was excellent, and I finished with a special app Plaza café was offering: an asian inspired tempura fried soft shell crab. I always order a soft shell crab and always regret my decision to do so but I was not let down here, by far the best soft shell crab I’ve ever had — perfectly prepared. Additional positives are offerings of quartinos of wine and an excellent digestif list, I lept for an exquisite grappa and was not disappointed.

Great food and atmosphere !! Go in for a romantic evening, or a nite out with friends. The best freshest seafood in around in my opinion. I had the best shrimp and risotto here one night paired with great service, the Plaza Café did not disappoint.

The first time that we went — a group of four — thought the food was tres yummy which is why the same group of four returned. While the back of the house may distill interesting dishes, the front of the house was less than par. Plae Café espouses to be an upscale reatsurant — for that the service should be good, better than good, excellent?! The service was very poor: 1. The waiters protrusive belly hit my head while going behind me in serving. 2. The bartendar(hostess?) came over to say hello, see how everything was — our guest was in the middle of telling us something, the hostess bartendar should have waited until she stopped speaking instead of interuppting to address us??? 3. We ordered coffee, tea and desert which were delivered while the empty wine glasses, ice tea and cocktial glasses were still on the table. We had to ask them to clear the glasses. 4. Last and certainly not least the food was delivered luke warm.

Exquisite food and exemplary service. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. We ordered the Horseradish Crusted Cod over garlic mashed potatoes and Seafood Shepherd’s Pie. Both were exceptional. We finished with the Apple cake and vanilla bean ice cream. The chef came out to chat with us and then had a glass of port brought to our table. We would definitely go back.

Had dinner here this evening with my wife and another couple. We took advantage of the prix fix for $ 35. The food was very very good but the service was bad. My wife and I arrived first and ordered cocktails. Our friends arrived as our drinks arrived and so they ordered drinks too. When the waitress returned with their beverages we were ready to order — partly because of the time waiting for the drinks, partly because the prix fix menu is limited. Our friend ordered a soda and an iced tea so it shouldn’t have taken so long to get those. When our appetizers arrived I ordered a soda which also took forever to arrive. I asked our waitress about it and she said she was waiting for it to come from the bartender. The bar was quiet and the restaurant was only half full. Our main course and my soda arrived. The soda was mostly ice so I finished it pretty quickly. After a few failed attempts to get our waitress attention I finally flagged down someone else and ordered another soda as did one of our friends. Our sodas never arrived. I ordered a coffee to go with my dessert and despite delaying eating my dessert and eating it slowly I was finished with it before my coffee arrived. The restaurant was full but there seemed to be plenty of staff so I’m not sure why or waitress was unable to handle all of her customers properly. I also don’t like that I had to order dessert while ordering my meal — something the waitress said we had to do because of the prix fix. I find that hard to believe. The other surprise was the total bill given that we had the prix fix. Turns out the sodas were $ 4.50 each as were the coffee and tea and the iced tea was $ 6! We will probably give this place another shot because the food was so good but if the service is again slow we will not return. If the service is better I’ll update this review.

I have to say, I thought this place was great. We dined here last night and thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the. Service. None of our party of 6 had a bad experience and we all come away saying that we’d all enjoyed a fantastic meal. I had the shrimp tempura to start and then the monk fish wrapped in bacon, both were excellent. Would definitely eat here again.

Interesting menu. Underwhelming execution. Will have to give it a second try to see if they can do better.
