We have been here multiple times for the lunch and dinner all you can eat sushi. The lunch all you can eat price is $ 12.95 and j believe the dinner is $ 18.95. Call ahead to make sure they are offering the special that day. They have a variety of regular and special rolls to select from and some other smaller plates(e.g. Potstickers, chicken teriyaki, veggie tempura). The food is a good deal and quality for the price and would recommend the Kami Special and Obama Rolls. The service is often poor, which is why we gave it 3 stars. Takes a while to place order and receive the check at the end of the meal.

Great food, great prices, okay service. This place is hands down my favorite sushi places, but the servers do not handle busy well. They become very un-attentive when they tables fill up. They are very kind and very apologetic but one can get frustrated waiting 15 mins just for the water…

1. Limited parking in the front, didn’t know there was back parking because an a-hole truck blocked the entrance to the back. Had to park in the next strip. 2. Took 10 minutes for us to be noticed plus another 10 minutes to get a menu. They are understaffed, two waitresses to manage +20 people; the place needs to hire more people. I hope you guys pay them well because that was ridiculous. 3. Friends encouraged us to try it, we felt like it was a cruel joke. Not sure what people’s standards are in sushi but that was definitely not it. I don’t mind paying more if the quality if the food is excellent, this place is back alley stuff. Because of the good reviews we just jumped in head first. Didn’t even dip the pinky in the water. Got 4 rolls each and appetizer. Miso soup was good, tasted real but so does the packet. Either way it was good. Soft Tofu in ponzu sauce, I was under the assumption that it was Agidashi Tofu and that was my fault for assuming. Got extra firm cold tofu in soy sauce and dots of saracha. :| that one had to be swallowed quick with water. That was gross. Chicken katsu was good but katsu sauce was bbq sauce… :| The sushi, we had 8 diff types, eel and cucumber, shrimp and avocado, dragon roll, etc. We got the initial 4, which were simple rolls, after trying one of each, regret set in. I looked around trying to find the face of disgust, similar to mine but there was none. Maybe we had a bad order, made we came in on the wrong day but it was difficult to enjoy the sushi. It tasted«fishy» or it didn’t taste fresh. The after taste was even worse. It tasted like left overs with mushy rice and brown avocados. The nori was also soaked and not firm. The effort that was put in was not there, the sushi kept falling apart. The next 4 set was torture, we if course had to finish it because we didn’t want to pay full price but it felt like fear factor. The smell was off, the taste was even funkier, I ordered sauce and extra drinks to mask the taste. The texture was still mushy! The rice may have been spoiled or was soaking in water, not sure but never again. Eel wasn’t grilled over, felt like it was thawed and slapped on. I’m sure their non– sushi entrees would have been better but we got the worse experience with the sushi that we are blacklisting this place. Wasted 1.5 hours, should’ve taken my chances with black pine tree again.

Good food. Horrible horrible horrible service !!! Never coming here again I came in looking for tasty food and nice employees but got smacked in the face with an attitude by a waitress. If you don’t like your job why are you here?

Me and my husband come here regularly for our lunch dates. The sushi here is the best around! The service is great, they should go back to their original green tea and not use the Lipton’s green tea. Yes there’s no saki and it was a disappointment at first but that was easy to over look after tasting the sushi. The ambiance of the place is a little depressing but sitting at the bar or near the window helps. My favorite roll is their LasVegas roll. They also showed our kids how to eat with chopsticks and Alfredo made them a special strawberry roll so they could try sushi for their first time. The people there are truly nice especially the chefs.

Horrible service! Food wasnt that great either. Waited 5 minutes before getting water. We had to chase down the server to get our order in. Food took 25 minutes to get to our table and the restaurant was less than 50% full. Had to chase down the server for our bill. Then chased her down again because she had my credit card for 10 minutes. I cannot believe this place is still in business.

One star because I cannot give less. This place was very promising, but has gotten progressively worse. The leftover sushi charge is ridiculous and now they’ve removed nigiri and donburi options. At this rate the only food options will be a house salad and edamame; and charge for water. Sushi from Meijer or gas station may be better option. Doubt the owner will even care to address this.

The only reaso. I tried here was b.c. Black Pine Tree was closed. Ordered an Avocado Cucumber roll and fried Calamari to go. The Calamari literally stunk up my whole house! Not fresh. When i ate it i kid you not it was so chewy that it snapped back and hit me on my lip! I ended up throwinf it away and had to put it on my porch b.c. of the fish taste. Will not be back. Could not even eat part of the sushi cuz i felt so sick.

An all you can eat sushi restaurant is such an awesome idea if you are with a group of people that love to try different rolls. The all you can eat menu i ncludes appetizers such as gyoza and various salads, hot appetizers such as chicken fried rice. The menu items in crude various«cooked» dishes like chicken teriyaki, and then several different sushi rolls and nigiri. The sushi is very good and the service is awesome considering you order your rolls as you would menu-style and they are served to you. The firecracker is a favorite of mine(pictured top right), as well as the michigan roll. However, I have not had a bad roll here! All fish is very fresh, and they provide a very generous roll size. My family and I visit once every few months and we will continue to frequent Sushi Kami when we are in the mood to indulge in our favorite food!

Wow! Let’s start with the positive. Our Server Chelsea was absolutely fabulous! She was quick to explain menu items, and her attitude was very warm and welcoming. She answered all of our questions, and even brought an ingredient out of the back so I could read the label, some type of sauce. My wife and I both felt that Chelsea genuinely wanted our first visit to be awesome. Hands down, some of the best service we have ever experienced, anywhere. Thanks again Chelsea! The sushi was good. The portions were a very good size, and the value is quite shocking. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the bill, because the math in my head had us way over what was there. The presentation was good, the flavors were clean, and non of the fish was dried out. Now, for the negative. The men’s Restroom was absolutely disgusting. I hate that I am even writing about it, but it was really, really bad. I’ve been to porta potties at little league games that were 10 times cleaner. It was quite shocking. Overall, the experience was great. The atmosphere of the dining/bar area is very intimate. The fellas working the sushi bar were very cool. Restrooms aside, this place is a jewel in the downriver corporate dominated restaurant scene, and we will surely be back.(We just won’t use the restrooms… lol)

Always pleased with the sushi here. For $ 18 you can order from an all you can eat me u which includes appetizers, rolls, nigiri, and entrees. For the price, you can’t beat it since I typically spend $ 18 on a roll and appetizers or $ 18 on 2 rolls anyways. Fish has always been fresh. Clean restaurant. Service is mostly good. My favorite rolls are the firecracker and mango crush.

Didn’t look open when we drove in because the open sign was out. When I first walked in, they juz finishes their All You Can Eat Sushi hour which ends at 830pm. So we waited for about 10mins for the waitress to clean the table before we get seated. I really did not have a good 1st impression on the food because I was the only Asian there, including the chefs. We ordered three rolls, TNT, spicy California and Alaska, and to my surprise, the food are not bad, better than what I had in Texas. I love how they gave me a pot of green tea, which save the waitress time and me asking several times since I’m a huge tea drinker. The TNT is what I like the best, the jalapeño with the saracha on top made it special, I love spicy food. The Alaska roll was a-okay, and so is the spicy California, nothing too special about them. Since my friend doesn’t eat nigiri, so we didn’t order any. One major thing missing thou was the wasabi. Since the waitress was busy working by herself, and we could live without the wasabi for once with the rolls since we didn’t order nigiri.

I couldn’t really believe the All-You-Can-Eat reviews so I headed here for dinner. For $ 18.95, I truly could order any and everything I could fit in my stomach. The dinner AYCE menu has a different price than lunch and also has more options for ordering. This place is in a strip mall and does not have the typical décor and ambiance but the price is worth the sacrifice and hey, it feels kind of cool to visit divey places… I ordered two rolls, gyoza, tempura shrimp appetizer, and teriyaki chicken. The rolls were good and fresh. I eat the American type sushi, however, so I cannot speak to the super raw stuff. I enjoyed both rolls and they seemed to have a pretty good variety to choose from. My only quip is that not all of the rolls are on the detailed menu so I had to ask what was in some of the rolls before ordering. Skip the gyoza… there wasn’t a particular dip that came with it and it didn’t taste like handmade Japanese gyoza, rather it tasted like it was straight from the freezer. The tempura was pretty good but could have benefited from a little bit more crunch. But for $ 18.95AYCE, order something else or just live with it. I mean, its a GREAT deal. The chicken teriyaki was very good with a slighty sweet juice and a few vegetables for good measure. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner here and enjoyed the bill even more. Sure, I might not visit if I were a sushi connoisseur but I’m not… tempura fry my rolls and throw on some eel sauce and I’m happy. This place can definitely do that and do it on a dime. I will glady visit Sushi Kami again, and again, and again. Also, Thank the Unilocal God that this place is downriver… please send more quality restaurants our way and I promise I will Unilocal each one!

It’s the eat all you can sushi a la carte style. It’s simple really, you come in, sit down, order something to drink, pay a set price and enjoy everything in their all you can eat menu. There’s rolls, nigiri, rice bowls and even appetizers. So go on and enjoy everything you crave until you quit from food coma. The service is pretty good as well, the floor crew is definitely very attentive. Kept our tea pot of green tea replenished and warm. cleared the finished plates off our table and all doing with with genuine delight for the customer. Sushi chef behind the counter is very nice. Greeted us as we came in with true hospitality. No they’re not Japanese, but they make some really good Japanese style food. These guys know what they’re doing and I love eating here. For cheap, good quality all you can eat Japanese and sushi, this is definitely 10 steps in front of your Chinese buffet sushi. I’ve been here for lunch and dinner plenty of times and never have I had a bad experience. I don’t judge books by covers, I judge it by its content. These guys know how make good food. The concept of all you can eat sushi is brilliant. First place in this area that I have heard of doing this. The best part is it is more than just sushi on the all you can eat menu. The lunch all you can eat ends at 2pm and is about 15 dollars per person. The dinner is about 19 dollars per person. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is welcoming. Would have gave them all 5 stars but the staff seems a little disorganized at times but for the most part they r nice and keep the food coming ^_^ Definitely gives the pine tree sushi joint down the street a run for their money. Will be coming back again

This was my first time at Sushi Kami. The place is small & serves no alcohol but I was hungry and it is Lent. We sat at the bar because I hate low top tables. The wait staff seem like younger girls but very friendly. We sat at the bar, party of two. A couple sat next to us. It was so awkward when getting drinks but the waitress were so friendly. It was pretty busy and there were definitely some obnoxious idiots acting like they were in Birmingham getting sushi. It didn’t help that the place was so small but whatever what can you do. We ordered the creamy mushroom for an appetizer. I’m always so happy and surprised at the appetizers sushi joints have that aren’t the traditional edamame or soup. Definitely happy I ordered the creamy mushroom. It was so light and flavorful with great portions. The tempura was perfectly light and crisp. I love mushrooms and these were great! I ordered the firecracker roll which is baked and spicy. Loved the spiciness of the roll, finally a roll that lives up to its description. The lobster meat I believe, was baked on top with lots of spicy sauce. The next roll was a deep fried roll suggested by the waitress. It was pretty good, you can’t go wrong with deep friend shrimp tempura and avocado. Even though the place was busy, our waitress was very attentive. I believe our waitresses name is Jasmine. Very happy we came in because Black Pine Tree had a 40min wait. I don’t even care for that place and I was not impressed last time I went. I just wanted to seafood and not anything American or grilled. This place was great & I’ll definitely be coming by when I don’t feel like driving 15 miles out of Woodhaven. I hope they serve alcohol soon, I can live with small space & chairs!

Three of us went on a Friday night it was really busy, not very much seating, very understaffed. They had no beer or alcohol which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I for one love a Japanese beer with sushi. Why four stars then, the sushi was amazing we had all you can eat for 19 $ per person, we had quite a few rolls and appetizers, definitely worth more then 20 $. FYI if you don’t consume all you order when you do the AYCE they charge. Really great food I will be coming back, if your not a patient person maybe not for you.

Don’t let this place fool you by looks alone, the all you can eat sushi is the best I know of in South east Michigan. Lunch price $ 13.95, Dinner price $ 20.95 If you enjoy roles they have at least 15 to 20 different kinds, all of them that we tried were very tasty. Limited Nagari only tried the salmon and tuna. The Tuna was of moderate quality but fresh, I don’t believe either were frozen. The salmon was higher quality and very fresh it melted in our mouths like salmon should.
They also have a variety of different salads, traditional with Ginger dressing, calamari salad, seaweed salad, miso soup, edamame all included in price. If I am ever in the area I will definitely go back and fill myself back up they had no problem with how much we could eat.

AYCE Sushi, rolls, entrée’s, sides, and appetizers for $ 18.95 dinner is quite an undertaking. Sushi kami makes a pretty good showing at it! Went in on a busy Friday evening to get my fill of sushi. The last time I did this in Ann Arbor, the place went out of business the next month. I’m not saying there was any relation to my being there, but… Kami was busy, and it’s an odd space inside for a sushi restaurant. The layout is a bit fast-foodish for a Japanese sushi house. The waitresses were clearly struggling with volume as well, and it took a good 10 minutes to get seated. Once seated, we were acquainted with the menu & how to use it so we started with starters! I had a seaweed salad and a spicy tuna roll to begin. When the came, the salad was great and the tuna roll was pretty good. It was clear at this point that we were getting quantity over quality, but it was AYCE so I had planned on this being the case. It’s not that the food was bad in any way, its just that the quality of sushi & rolls wasn’t high end and execution was a bit lacking. OVER2 hours later(as I said, it wasn’t bad) of izakaya style dining, we were finally ready to call it quits. The staff had done a good job taking care of us(even though they were all Caucasian and none spoke Japanese). We made some new friends, ate ’til we couldn’t possibly at any more, and all for under $ 20 a person. If you’re hungry and in the area, stop in and give them a try, just remember what you’re getting & where you’re getting it.
