Best chicken I ever had in Connecticut. I moved from New York 3 years ago and Being a typical New Yorker you usually have your chicken spot lol and now I finally found one. Service is on point. I purchased two dinners and a one liter of Pepsi and I spent about $ 18 dollars what a deal. My lady and I looked like penguins walking out that’s how full we were. They serve large plates here. Will be back very soon.

Ok first off… KFC& Popeyes WHO?! Lol Went here on Saturday to get some food for my Husband & I. It was my first time here and with the many good reviews I was excited to give this place a try. The appearance isn’t the greatest, but the food was VERY good and fresh! I feel the prices are set at a steal! Whatever you order you can be sure that your plate will be overfilled and you will be satisfied! Here’s my ONLY problem. There was a young woman that took my order. She’s a taller, white woman that had her hair slicked back into a bun. While the cooks were in the back(I’m assuming grabbing more chicken) and others preparing to-go plates. I saw this woman dig her bare hand into a fryer full of chicken nuggets that were done and waiting to be placed on a plate and eat one! What was horrible is that, that was someone’s order! The food is made fresh to order and she did that with 3 customers standing there waiting. Once I seen it I looked at the other two men standing there and they were looking directly at her so I’m sure they seen it too. This place serves really good food. I would hope a woman like this wouldn’t ruin their reputation by doing things like that, and especially infront of customers… Not good. Overall I would say Give this place a try if you haven’t. I will for sure be back again. We loved the food!

Good olé hen house. This place is a local legend in Southington. This fried chicken is somewhat of a religious experience… It down right puts your run of the mill chain(kfc Popeyes) to shame. The chicken is fried to absolute perfection every time… It really does not get much better than their chicken. From standard buckets to nuggets to wings to sandwiches it’s all amazing. Also they have great sides some really delicious Mac salad to the best GD deviled eggs I’ve ever eaten. And for the cheap prices they charge you cannot bear this place. If your in the area YOUMUST check it out you won’t be disappointed. PS call ahead and place your order this place does some Serious business and there may and probably will be some wait time.

Four words of advice: GETITTOGO because the food is wonderful, but if you dine in(at least on a Saturday when I did) the service is sloooooooooooooow. Everything is made fresh to order so when you fry chicken without a pressure cooker that takes a while. We ordered a fried chicken plate and a seafood plate and it took 35 minutes to get the food, It took 25 minutes to get 2 cups with ice. Great chicken, cole slaw, scallops, onion rings, everything was a winner, but next time we will call ahead because the food is worth it!

Hells to the YEAH! This place is awesome! My husband and I were in the mood for some fried chicken but didn’t want to go to KFC or some other chain… so we ordered from Hen House and we both loved it! I had an awesome fried chicken sandwich with tomato, lettuce and mayo… the chicken was seasoned beautifully and so scrumptious! It came with fries and slaw and both were delicious. My husband had the fried chicken dinner and he thought it was amazing. We also got a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and their gravy is so friggin phenomenal! My 1 year old daughter couldn’t get enough of it! I need to try their vast array of wings and I am excited to try some of their other fabulous sides! TWOSNAPSUPIN A CIRCLE!

Tried this local favorite the other night. We ordered the chicken nugget dinner and the combo special which came with a breast, wing, fries and 2 giant ribs. Everything we had was delicious, chicken was very moist and perfectly cooked. Loved the curly fries and ribs were juicy and tender and the price was more than right. I’d recommend take-out as the dining area is kinda run-down and not super clean – needs a makeover, but great food.

My boyfriend picked up two a fried chicken platters to-go with fries, coleslaw and corn bread and I was blown away. They’re fried chicken is so delicious! Homemade perfectly crispy and finger-licking good. KFC could use some pointers from these folks. Still thinking about their chicken and mind you it’s 3-days later. Definitely recommend it. As I said we had the platter including fries, cold-slaw and corn bread and I’m sure those were good too but the fried chicken was just such a stand out, it’s all I remember. Will be going again when I come back to CT.

Maybe the cook was having an off day, maybe it was because we got takeout or maybe it was just bad karma, but our recent meal was not quite as good as anticipated. I stopped by to order our meals and was told it would be 15 – 20 minutes. I returned in 15 and our food was just being packaged. 8 minutes later we sat down to 2 orders of fried chicken — #2 white = 2 chicken breasts and #2 dark = a leg and thigh. The coating was a tad darker and less crispy than on my prior visit and the chicken was drier. Each order included a small container of ground up coleslaw, an abundance of previously frozen French fries and an unneeded dinner roll. I am not inclined to rush back for another helping so maybe I will return in 2016 — just maybe.

OMG This place is the best kept secret in fried chicken. I get out of work, drive 2 towns over in the opposite direction to where my home is, and I drive past at least 1KFC just to get hen house’s fried chicken. I go home and I start eating, and it is so deliciously fried that I eat the meat, the skin and sometimes I want to eat the bones :))) It’s also worth mentioning how nice the crew is to me and how well they accommodate me. Keep it up guys.

Came here for my first time over a year ago because my boyfriend raved about this place because he’s been going there since he was a kid and they have delicious, homestyle BBQ, are pretty inexpensive but also loved & well-known in the neighborhood. I was thrilled to check this place out because of his enthusiasm and because this was my very first time in this part of CT and my very first trip with him… also as usual, I was starving. Upon entering we were greeted by the person manning the register and everyone in the back cooking and preparing meals looked like they were having a blast. This definitely gives off a «family owned and run» kind of vibe. I love that. We ended up sharing a pretty generous order of chicken nugget and french fries along with almost every kind of dipping sauce under the sun. I LOVE me some dipping sauces and each chicken nugget was juicy, tender white meat and deliciously battered. It was evident about my 3rd or 4th nugget in that these were not frozen and deep fried, but most likely hand-battered in their kitchen. Each of us ordered our own side to go along with this feast — the boy ordered mashed potatoes and I ordered mac and cheese, we shared the dinner bun that came with. My mac n’ cheese was delicious, nothing insanely amazing to call home about, but it was much better than KFC or fast food places — kind of on the level of Boston Market’s mac n’ cheese, maybe better. His mashed potatoes were also quite yummy and had some nice potato chunks in there making me wonder if this was instant or not and erring on it not being. Cool beans. To boot, Hen House has a super old Ms. Pac Man machine in the back of their dining area — the kind of machine that you have to sit down on a chair to play and kind of resembles a table. I love those kind of machines more so than the arcade-style ones that you stand at. Two weekends ago we passed this place as he was driving but we had just come back from eating a hearty breakfast — no doubt in my mind that I’ll come back here some day and try more of their tasty looking menu!
