I’ve since been back to this particular location since my last not so pleasant experience & I must say service has turned around. Was greeted very enthusiastically which is what I enjoy about coming to Nardellis. Just one issue, the cashiers can be a bit more attentive when making orders. A few of the toppings I asked for in my wrap were not there. I didn’t eat in so by the time I got home and noticed it wouldn’t make much sense(to me) to drive all the way back. But I’m gonna go ahead and give the benefit of the doubt that it was due to the heavy volume of customers since it was lunch time on a Saturday.

Best eggplant parm grinder in the history of food, period! In my honest opinion anyway. Living in Florida, we just can’t get em like this!

I’ve really tried to like this Nardellis. Went again and they messed up my takeout order. I ordered a turkey with bacon and extra mayo. No bacon and barely any mayo. In the past whenever I’ve gotten anything except«the works» it has been messed up. Also after eating in Waterbury location this one just seems off. Not sure why they are friendly there but it feels like making a recipe and while ur eating it u realize u didn’t use enough of something. Anyway they need to work on take out service. Only thing I would recommend is the Italian combo but even that seems off. Disappointed cause I’ve went many times. Prob my last visit.

I first have to say that when I first tried the original location in waterbury about 7 – 8 years ago, the food seemed fresher and it was one of the best subs that I have ever had at that time. With that being said, I have tried the food since, specifically the Southington location on a few occasions, and each time I have been greatly disappointed. This is including tonight’s order. The food is all Napoli and not made fresh on premise. When you walk in and see the options behind the glass the food looks amazing. When prepared, they use only microwaves to heat the food up. Absolutely terrible! By the time you eat your order it’s like chewing on a fake rubber sub! It’s pretty much equivalent to eating at any other crappie fast food joint which I don’t do anyway. $ 20 for two large subs with about 3 – 4 inches of it being bread only is a rip off! I’m better of driving to either Wethersfield house of pizza or Franklin Ave giant grinder to get a real deal sub. People, don’t waste your hard earned money or calories. It’s not worth it. I would love to stay local and support my towns establishments but I can’t support this place.

Yesterday I placed a to go order for 2 whole Italian grinders, 1 whole crab & shrimp grinder and a half chicken grinder. Well, they ran out of grinder rolls and had to make our grinders on hard roll instead. How can a grinder shop run out of their biggest ingredient? I spoke to the manager and he said they got a big order in the morning which caused them to run out, you think they could of got more since they had all day to get more. I told him I’m extremely disappointed and the grinder roll they use makes the sandwich. I also said this is like a pizza place running out of pizza dough, these things should not and do not happen. The manager just blew it off and didn’t even offer any kind of concession, not that I was looking for any. Also, the shorted my order by 1 Italian grinder which is being made on 2 hard rolls and when they did make the sandwiches they forgot to put mayonnaise on them. I’m not very happy in the way I was treated and I’m not going back. Stop & Shop makes Boars Head grinders that are less expensive and have better quality meats and cheeses though the roll isn’t quite as good. No I don’t work for Stop & Shop, just trying to help customers make better choices.

Not being a fan of driving over to Waterbury, I was happy when I found out Nardelli’s was opening up a location in Southington which is a much closer drive for me. Each time I have gone, I’ve gotten the Italian combo grinder, which is the standard bearer and barometer for any Italian grinder shoppe. It is loaded with meats and veggies, and the only thing I’d change about the grinder is the bread. It’s a tad too thick and bready for my taste and somewhat dilutes the amazing flavors going on inside the grinder. I swear I’ll sometime make an effort to try some of the other grinders on the menu, or at the very least some of their plethora of sides, but every time I visit, I just want that Italian combo, which at least shows they’re doing it right!

Nardelli’s continues at a consistently high level in all areas. The service is without exception friendly, and unrushed with a dedication to getting the customer order just right. The restaurant is always clean and bright, a pleasure whether doing takeout or eating in. It very quickly became a favorite when they opened and remains so. My family enjoys their salads especially the potato, macaroni and chicken salads. Also very good are the eggplant parmigian grinder and turkey wrap. The chicken cutlet grinder is a great choice too. Their tortellini salad and Cole slaw are excellent. And for desserts, I have had the cherry cheesecake and canoli. I brought canolis to a get together with friends and we all agreed they were the best we ever had. Thanks to all at Nardelli’s for the hard work and dedication. It does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated by my family and me.

#1 grinder my foot. I was excited to try this place do to the positive Unilocal reviews and awards. Wow, what a disappointment. I got a half of a grinder, eggplant parm to be exact. First of all, I’m used to REAL grinders in Hartford, where a half, is a whole to this place. It was like eating a ¼ grinder from what I’m used to. OK, but for $ 6 I expect more. Whatever. Second, the guy microwaves my grinder, bread and all. Wtf!!! I was mortified. The eggplant became very mooshy, literally like eating baby food. Gross. No flavor either, whoever like this eggplant has never, ever, had good eggplant in their life. Trust me. People, get in your car, drive to Franklin Ave in Hartford, and hit Corner Grinder or Franklin Giant and have a real one. You will thank me and skip this place.

Ok… I purchase lunch here about once a week. Typically a half of a cold cut grinder. I find these sandwiches to have fresh ingredients and the bread is delish. If I rated this place solely on the taste/quality of the cold cut sandwiches it would be 5 stars but, a few of the few times I had a grinder made from the prepped foods in the display were not 5 star. Hence, a 4 star rating. Also, of course napkins are available but I always seem to forget to get a few for take-out eats. Suggest that for take-outs that the cashier offers to put a few in the bag or at least mention that napkins are available on the condiment stand.

Growing up in Brooklyn, the food that is served at Nardelli’s was a staple, something I was used to my mother making. I have lived in the South for 28 years where food that is served at Nardelli’s is only a dream. My family and I have just moved to Southington. Driving into CT, I saw the billboards for Nardelli’s but was wary because I thought, if this place has a billboard their food must not be as good as they say it is and they are begging for business. Well, let me tell you, I was so wrong! My husband and I stopped in for take-out two weeks ago and I returned yesterday. We had the Meatball, Chicken Parm & Eggplant Parm«grinders»,(I will always call it a hero sandwich). Each one was DELICIOUS! The Eggplant Parm is my favorite, I have ordered it twice and both times is was outstanding. The bread they use is delicious and soaks in the sauce but is not soggy. There are MANY selections in the glass case and options for cold cut sandwiches. The servers are friendly and very professional and moved the long line very quickly. I am happy to live just a few short miles from this store and will make many trips there.

This is a very good sandwich(& salad & soup) option to have in S-town. We’ve had the chicken cutlet, meatball parm, italian combo, chicken salad, tuna salad, several sides, a couple soups, and several salads. There are probably a few sandwiches I am forgetting. I don’t recall being disappointed by any, in fact we have been mostly pleasantly satisfied. It’s one of our favorite non-pizza options in town. In fact, I am heading there as soon as I finish this review!

Gigantic. Delicious. I’m hungry just thinking about it. Fresh bread(seriously, I could just eat the bread and be happy,) stuffed to the brink with whatever makes your belly rumble. Diced veg makes the meal, and hot sauce(if you please) spices up the party. I’m so in love with the BBQ pulled pork, I might just marry it.

First, not being from CT, I feel silly calling a sandwich a «grinder.» Second, call it what you want, the bacon, mushroom, and chicken grinder was the best $ 4 sandwich I’ve ever had. «Well Phil,» you might say. «you were totally stoned, so anything would taste good.» To which I reply, «Nonsense. I’ve eaten nasty food when high and I know a good deal when I eat it. But in this case, I agree.» Nardelli’s is within walking distance of the hotel my husband and I stayed in so I consider proximity in this review. We don’t drive if we’ve entertained Mary-Jane. Located in a convenient strip mall hear the Price Chopper and Ocean State Job Lot, I’d recomend Nardell’s to sate tour post-discount shopping hunger. We staggered over there after a schmoke fest and were greeted by a layout of various meats, cheeses, veggies and pastries. Not by the staff who seemed annoyed to deal with us. Maybe our blood shot eyes gave us away and they were jealous. CT really needs to decriminalize already. We called in our order so it was ready for us(hooray no wait!) It smelled delicious. I was disappointed to discover the chicken cutlet was a processed chicken patty; a fact that became apparent halfway thru my chow-fest. There wasn’t much bacon and the mushrooms were canned. Although the processed chicken texture was off-putting, the grinder’s over-all flavor was fantastic enhanced by the bread. Damn, their bread is good! Herbal enhancement adds a star to Nardelli’s. Otherwise, it gets 3 stars.

Average. Have been to new location twice. Long lines(as expected) with fresh bread(as expected). First trip got a prosciutto and fresh mozz with tomato grinder but they don’t have pesto. Was a little bland could have used something else so overall was decent but not the most amazing thing. Today got a turkey grinder that was definitely below par. Wrong cheese on my sandwich. Tomatoes are gross and orange(not ripe) and the turkey is not appealing at all. The guy had to ask for the order several times. Probably overpriced for what you’re ultimately getting if you are ordering just a sub. Pickles are delish!

Woohoo I’m not a sandwich kinda girl but getting a grinder from Nardeli’ almost had me converted. The grinders here are wide and overstuffed! Prices run similar to other sandwich place in town but seriously getting a grinder from here will lasts three days even for someone who eats constantly like me. For $ 8 I felt I was getting more than what I asked for. The hot chicken is pretty amazing. I got all the fixing and wasn’t charged extra. Will be back when out with people who enjoy grinders. This is a great addition to the plaza!
