Nice location, off the beaten path but the area is scenic. The food was very good. A bit on the expensive side, but so is any restaurant on the north fork. I’m a burger guy so I have their burgers. Very good, cook to my specs. I wasn’t disappointed.

Don’t go for the fried shrimp or fried clams with bellies. My husband had the shrimp and I had the clams. Both were so over cooked you couldn’t taste the shrimp or the clams. It was just heavy breading and because it was cooked so much it was very hard. I will not go back, so disappointed.

My date and I decided to go out east for the day to hit up some wineries. At the last winery we asked one of the employees where a nice place where to eat and she recommended Cliff’s Elbow East. The employee gave us directions and advised to watch out for a sign because a lot of people miss it. and I now see why. The sign is VERY small… so yes we missed it. Because we are now in Fall we had the restaurant to ourselves. We started with the Lobster Bisque; it was a perfect creamy pink cup of warm goodness. If you don’t start you meal this it. we are not friends. I ordered the shrimp scampi which was very fresh. One of the great things about this little restaurant is how close it is to the long island sound. After dinner watched the sunset walking down the beach. Perfect way to end a great day.

The marinated steaks here are soo good! Love this place. I go whenever I’m back home in Southold. There’s really not much else to say. Definitely recommend it.

This is one of my favorite local bars /restaurants. Lori(works Wednesday and Thursday nights) is an awesome bartender. She is very attentive to customers requests. The food is good. Sometimes excellent depending on the day. I go for the atmosphere and the history. I like to sit out on the deck and have a drink on a nice night. Good meal reasonable price.

We have been coming here for years! This use to be our favorite place, however we just came back from dinner and the steaks were amazing, horrible service very understaffed, our waiter never came over once to check on us and we had to get up and get our check at the bar. The salad was always my favorite part, the blue cheese dressing was still amazing, however there were no tomatoes and the salad was half the size it use to be. Very disappointing, I guess they are cutting costs which is upsetting because I would pay more to have a better meal. Very disappointed :(

It TOTALLY bothers me to say this… THISPLACEISNOTWHATITUSEDTOBE. First off this place was legendary, a simple treasure that had the best steaks around, now the meat is second at best — yes the marinades very tasty but the cuts are far skimpier compared to the past. The king cut is an insult and the mussels were the size of rasins ??? The pride is gone and now its extremely inconsistent. Ive tried several times to see if it was an off night but at the prices they are asking it should never be. Very nice staff … but that doesn’t cut it anymore

I went there in part because of the review that said it was like the steak and seafood places of her youth. That was a great call. I don’t understand the negative reviews but I’ll give my two cents. Don’t let this one pass you by. I worked as a cook in Alaska back when the earth was young and the volcanos we’re going off so I’ve been around food and I cleaned fish for a living too so I’m a good judge of seafood. Decided to have the surf and turf. I don’t live on the East Coast so it’s rare that I ever order lobster. The combination was insanely good. I highly recommend the marinated fillet. It was as good as steak as I have ever had anywhere. The lobster was great too but really how bad can lobster be? The prices are reasonable, the waitstaff was outstanding and the chef did a great job. If I have any criticism at all it’s they could improve the salads — but seriously this is a classic. This is the restaurant of your childhood and it’s well worth going to.

I’ve been going to the Elbow Room in Southold for many years, my Parents have been going here since before I was born-they’re fantastic!!! It’s one of our go to locations for special events & a delicious steak dinner. I’ve always been treated well by the staff here, always a warm welcome & good service. This is mainly a steak & seafood restaurant-don’t come here just for a burger!!!(And don’t bring your vegetarian/vegan friends here). The marinated porterhouse is their signature steak, and it’s DELICIOUS!!! Let me repeat: STEAK&SEAFOOD! haha It’s absolutely worth it! I also personally love their shrimp scampi, and their baked clams are one of my family’s most favorite dishes. They’re out east on the north shore, which is another plus for me because I love it on the east end, but you may have to calculate in travel time if you have other plans and/or don’t live too close by-but the location is beautiful, they’re across the street from The Sound. I only ever have good things to say about The Elbow Room! Love it!

Bartender burger is steak on a bun. Got that and a beer. Simple, quaint, cozy, really exemplifies small town living. Good time… and they have lotto tickets at the bar… Smart.

I went to Elbow East the Friday of Labor Day, and had a great time. This place reminded me of the old school seafood and steak places my family went to on the Jersey shore when I was growing up. There is an emphasis on local wines, which was great. Entrees come with a bread basket, salad, and potato too — bonus. We enjoyed our clams casino appetizer, which was accented with diced red peppers. With a large menu, we asked our waitress what was good, and she recommended the marinated steaks. My husband went with the porterhouse, which was giant, but deliciously juicy and tender. I know it’s tempting to go for seafood near the water, but trust me: the steaks here really are fantastic. I chose the shrimp oscar, which was shrimp stuffed with crab meat, on top of asparagus with Hollandaise. It was really tasty, but the asparagus was not fresh and bright green as it should be. I liked my seafood though. Fries were frozen, and the portions were huge — everyone here leaves with a doggie bag. I would definitely come back to Elbow East the next time I’m in the North Fork. It’s not a must-try, but it’s a really solid place to grab a steak.

As a Vegan, my options in Southold were limited. When the party I was with wanted to go for lunch at Elbow East, as it was right off the beach — I have to admit I was worried that I would be eating french fries and salad. But to my surprise I had a delicious Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato sandwich! And I had fries to — and they were delicious!

We stopped there for lunch, going to orient the place was empty. We ordered filet mignon and flounder sand the filet mignon plate was very good but there was not enough French fries on plate and only one slice of tomato, a small cup of cole slaw Ithe flounder plate was good service was very good, and dessert was very good.

Ok, sorry… But for the second time I fail to see what the fascination is with this place. We decided to give it another try after going to the other Elbow Room In Jamesport. That place was utterly filthy, food was God awful and décor was miserably dated. Went last night to Elbow east in Southold and aside from having little to no heat in the building, the food was nothing more than mediocre. I figured what can they do to a burger… Well, got it and it was just simply, ok. Partner got the codfish and said Morton frozen fish was better. Sorry guys. Thats it ! Never going back and definitley do NOT reccomend this place. We ate fast with our coats on and ran. Was awful … Just awful…

I have been to this place more times then I can count. It used to be awesome and because the food was so good we didn’t mind paying their very high prices, however the last 3 times we have been there we have been so disappointed from the seafood to the fillet mignon to a burger(the burger didn’t even look like real chop meat looked more like a bubba burger). I will always give a place 3 times before I say I’m not returning and I hate saying this but this place has had 3 strikes so they’re out.

I had the best restaurant meal of my life here. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly to my liking, and charred on the outside and juicy on the inside. I don’t know what they put in the marinade to make it so good, but I savored every bite. I was never much of a steak eater or even carnivore, but this changed everything. I went with my parents, who ordered shrimp and a fish sandwich, and while they liked theirs, they had serious food envy when I told them they HAD to try my plate. The seafood is fresh and maybe good as an appetizer, but as a main course you have to order steak. The service struck the perfect balance between friendly and professional, and I like when it’s attentive but not checking on you every few minutes. Really nice people. They’re open year-round, seven days a week for lunch(starting at noon) and dinner. The lunch menu is a fantastic value, but you could order off the dinner menu at lunchtime if you want. If you’re coming from the west, you’ll see a sign where you should turn, but if you’re coming from the east, the sign off the main road is really, really tiny so you should look up directions before you head out.

It’s been far too long, but this place had just about as good of a surf & turf as we’ve ever had. Truly amazing… the marinated steak was off the charts. Casual atmosphere and located at the end of a residential block… you would never know it’s there without direction from someone locally. But, we always viewed it as a hidden gem of sorts. Excellent service, nice vibe & we’ve enjoyed several fantastic meals there.

We love, love this Elbow Steak House… the best on Long Island. If my memory serves me correct, this used to be affiliated with Cliff’s Elbow Room and Elbow Too. Consequently, the partner ship dissolved, hence Elbow East. This place is much bigger than the one in Jamesport. There is more daylight openings, and sunshine. The steaks are awesome. We make it our tradition to drive out every New Years Eve to ring in the New Year with a juicy, tasty, mouth-watering marinated steak, char-grilled to perfection. I mean«Char-Grilled».hhhmmm, makes me want one right now. We also, make the trip after a nice day out at one of our fave wineries. Don’t blink, or you miss the sign on the North Road, route 48.
