We checked into The Delamar and were warmly greeted with sherry and port as well as top notch service. After a long day in the car we went into the Artisan Tavern for a late lunch. We were seated, in the near empty room, right next to a frequently opened door to the outside on a 10 degree day. After a lengthy wait, we had to ask the hostess to find our waitress who had brought us drinks then disappeared. Another waitress showed up to take our order — seemed like a favor. We mentioned to her we were hungry and expected some bread to be brought fairly soon. We had to ask for it twice. There were four or five waiters standing around near the back, fooling around and laughing. One was eating. When we wanted to leave, we had to once again ask for our waitress — no waiters to be seen so we asked the hostess who said something about it being turn over time and seemed disinterested. A third waiter brought our check. We mentioned all this at the hotel reception desk and they called the restaurant manager. He arrived, looking like a casual guest, and had a non-reaction to our complaint. The hotel staff witnessed all if this and seemed perturbed at the manager’s attitude. If the manager shows this type of customer service, it stands to reason that the staff is this shoddy. We will not return to this restaurant.

Hands down, one of the top 3 restaurants in the state of Connecticut! From the impeccable service to the delicious, well-prepared food to the romantic ambience, Artisan was a perfect choice for a special dinner over Valentine’s Day weekend.

Excellent brunch! consistently good food and terrific service. We were in a party of 8 in the back room and the waitstaff didn’t rush us at all. Great menu, good variety, courteous waitstaff and excellent bartender.

We really love their sister restaurant l’escale so we decided to give this place a try. Definitely will be going back! We had a great dinner, great service and really liked the ambience of the restaurant. They also have a small seating area with a fireplace that is perfect for having drinks.

The food here is good, sometimes great. service is good. Atmosphere is sophisticated but comfortable. Sunday brunch is favorite. Amazing pancakes and eggs Benedict with smoked salmon in lieu ham. Excellent. Major debit: the coffee is absolutely terrible, undrinkable.

One of the best places that I have been to in New England. Food here is amazing! I had the octopus and the chowder both were awesome in flavor. Karl the Bartender was first class. Cozy atmosphere and there is such pride in the service. I cannot wait to come here again. Desserts are a work of art.

Tonight, the filet mignon and a Napa cab 2010 recommended by Hicham. Even if you don’t go for the beef, give the cab a shot, worth every dime. the French fries with the truffle oil are from another planet, a unique experience. The lava cake tastes better every time(wonder how that’s possible) and the Crème brûlée is unique. We tried it over a month ago, the recipe has evolved and makes me looking forward to my next dinner here. I m subjective of course, I can t help coming back to this place.

Went for Sunday brunch. $ 19 and you have to pay extra to get home fries! The food is good but the service is juvenile. Across the board, they lack energy, knowledge, and warmth. Don’t expect any smiles. I felt like I was putting our waiter out when I asked him to take a picture of us. I’d be willing to put up with that for good food at a good price but here you pay a hefty price for the food. It ought to come with excellent service.

Went for restaurant week. Delicata app was 3 pieces ½ inch rounds, nothing special. New England boiled dinner was horrible. Fatty meat with a variety of root vegetables soaking in its cooking liquid. Dessert was delish. The bill arrived at the same time dessert was delivered to the table! And it included one item that belonged to a neighboring table! Way overpriced for crappy food.

Artisan is a bit pricey but in line with other restaurants in the area. I love the clam chowder and chicken as well as everything else I’ve tried. The service is gracious and the perfect amount of attentive.

It was a perfect night start to finish. We had an 8 o’clock reservation on the patio. The temperature was perfect, the lighting and ambiance on point. It was busy so it was clutch to have a reservation, some«gentleman» was really trying to get a reservation and the poor hostess had to nicely tell him a thousand different ways that they were booked — so — make a reservation! I had an old fashioned that was delicious and Brian stuck with beer because it’s what he likes! We both ordered steak — I had the NY and Brian had the hangar — both delicious. Nothing was to prepare me for what was to come though. That little glass mason jar of perfection — vanilla cheesecake — topped with caramel and sea salt. Our waiter was Grayson and he was absolutely top notch — he’s the one who recommended the cheesecake!

Great place to come if you’re celebrating a birthday or anniversary, just make sure you call ahead of time to make a reservation. Service is great, I’ve sat both inside the dining room and outside on the back patio and have not had a problem with the wait staff. For dinner my family had the Grilled Octopus Escabeche and Prime Beef Carpaccio for appetizers — all very tasty, fresh, and just the right amount of ingredients. I ordered the Omaha Angus Hanger Steak for my entrée(cooked rare), it’s definitely the best I’ve had in a while; not RAW and perfectly cooked with a great sauce and simple sides(fries & a light arugula salad) — great pairing with the red wine I had as well. For brunch we had a party of six and the restaurant was great making those accommodations outdoors where seating can be tight. For appetizers we shared oysters and clams on the half shell. I had the Gravlax Benedict as my entrée — huge portions, lots of smoked salmon and the Hollandaise sauce was very tasty.

Delicious food but the bartender needs to be let go. He is currently swigging Heinekens behind the bar… there are many people that are very deserving of a job as a bartender and he is not!

Went here for a party today. They served brunch. Food was good. We ate our food in the catered room outside. It was very nice. I plan on going back to try the restaurant too. The valet will park your car and get it when you are ready to leave.

Food, ambiance and service are outstanding at this Southport institution. We wanted to mark a special occasion for our family because our grown children are scattered geographically and rarely are able to come together at the same time due to their own work and other commitments. There were many options on the menu and everyone loved their choice. The ambiance is upscale and the tables are sufficiently separated that it was easy to have a conversation — important when you really want to hear what everyone is saying. We have come here on special occasions because the prices are at the upper end of our spending range, but the reliability and quality of the food and service bring us back.

Fabulous Valentine’s Day Dinner. Lovely location and the perfect option for a cold and snowy evening. We were seated at a lovely table right near the fireplace. I’m a big fan of little touches and Artisan completely nailed it. Started with a salmon amuse bouche… and then moved onto a generous raw bar platter and a fantastic octopus ceviche. My boyfriend and I split the chateaubriand for 2 for our main dish. Perfectly prepared as medium-rare. The steak knives provided were unnecessary, as it just separated seamlessly with your fork and melted in your mouth. Pairings of sliced potatoes and snow peas worked perfectly. Finished with a sample dish of decandent pastries. As an added special touch, they gave each woman a long-stemmed rose with the check(Wait, my love, you get the check and I get a flower? Sounds good to me!). This was our first time there and we both agreed that we’d like to check it out again, as it’s nearby to my bf’s Westport home and seemed to have a nice menu along with bustling bar area.

Excellent staff, fantastic food and beyond good service. Artisan is a jewel in the Southport area. We frequent Artisan weekly and are never disappointed. Frederick, the chef is inventive and committed to the craft of fine dining while Hicham the manager makes the experience exquisite. This is a do not miss for the area.

Come here for a drink when the weather is nice u get to sit outside. The food is rally good. Been here way too many times but the one thing I always get is their fluffy cheesecake with salted caramel. No other cheesecake can beat this! I also particularly like their fried pickle appetizer, clam Chowder soup, super food kale salad, and steaks. Try it out. They have a lot of seafood dishes and steaks if u r a fan.
