My Favorite Eat In Pizza Place! I love this place. They are always nice and aim to please. I order their Mt Rose Pizza with goat cheese. They have a fruit flavored iced tea we like also. My husband gets the Cowboy Poetry among others. We have never been disappointed!

Love this place! Great pizza and appetizers, although I can’t speak to anything else on the menu. The service is great, and friendly; and the ambience and décor is fabulous. I love the assorted artwork showcasing bits and pieces of the Black Rock Desert. The only thing I’d warn about… It can be kinda chilly in there sometimes, so you may want to pull on a sweater or hoody.

Black Rock Pizza, in the back of my mind was a memory of fu fu pizza. I like good old fashioned pizza, not the new Thai pizzas, BBQ sauce pizza, Buffalo sauce pizza, white sauce pizza. Just the regular red sauce with normal toppings. Black Rock dips it finger in both sides, appeasing the traditionalists, and then making the funky pizza for the people that put ketchup on there hot dogs. Parking is never an issue with the huge parking lot adjacent to it’s restaurant. The restaurant is fairly good size with both booths and tables. They serve both beer and wine, with quite a few local microwbrews on tap. We ordered the outlaw pizza, the toppings included pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, green bell peppers and onions. They give you an option of whole grain or sweet Italian crust. We chose the sweet Italian crust. It definitely is thin crust, NY style which I love. The only thing I did not like is the crust could have been cooked a bit longer. It was not crispy, it was chewy. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. They chop all the veggies, grate all the cheeses, smoke there meats, all starting first thing in the morning. We will definitely be back.

This is a wonderful place for people with Celiac Disease to go to. My mom has been looking for a pizza place that served good GF pizza for such a long time, and now she has finally found it. The staff was also very knowledgeable about what other items on the menu were GF.

Hands down the best pizza in the Reno area! I came here with the hubby and kids. We had the shrimp pizza with pesto on multi grain crust, and their award winning wings! We will definitely be back.

Walked in the door and it was a few before we got seated. Been here before several times and it was amazing. This time seems a bit different from the get go. After being seated, it took a while to order and to receive the appetizer after the order. Ordered the Tumble Weeds(fried artichoke hearts) and they were great, dipped in blue cheese dressing. As the pizza arrived, it looked nothing like the described pizza on the order which was the Lobo. After asking the waitress about the pizza she said she couldn’t find the receipt. However it was taken care of and the pizza came shortly after that. The manager turned out to be our server whom really handled the issue. The pizza was very delicious. I would still recommend this joint to most of my friends.

Hidden little amazingness. Mistakes where made server just didn’t get the order right! Redemption was nothing for them. The mistakes where fixed without question correct order was brought. More discounting then necessary. Seeing their customer service first hand makes me love the place that much more. Tried the Lobo tonight… Amazing!!! Something new and interesting. Olive oil rather than sauce! I am still a huge fan of this little spot!!!

Love this place. Great unique choices and the service was prompt and pleasant. Went for lunch with a friend and we split a small and a appetizer. That was more than enough food.

Taking mom out to a late lunch can sometimes be hard… so pizza I decided. Great choice. Instantly things started right when she asked for hot tea… the waitress brought her a box full of selections, and kept asking if she wanted more water! Pizza is such a personal selection. With the vast variety offered, each of us choice our own, knowing that we would have lunch the next day as well. The variety of crusts… whole wheat, thin, thick, traditional… Sweet Italian and multi-grain. Traditional toppings then the unusual… take the time to read the menu and mentally debate as to which one do you not want to try? They all have a northern Nevada name and feature what we call«native foods»… Appetizers have a special treat… Deep Fried Artichoke Hearts… tumbleweeds. A full beer selection awaits you as well as the basic wines. Very family oriented with lots of room for tables to be moved together for larger groups. You can sit quietly in a corner seat or get in the middle of the room for more active events.

Nice atmosphere and good food. What more could you want? Went in for a late Friday dinner. Server was nice and gave us plenty of time to order. Food came out quickly and was very good. I will definitely go back and suggest to others.

Pizza is still great! However, the prices have gone up quite a bit. The quality is still great, I just don’t go as often due to the higher prices.

The woman we encountered today was rude with a capital, I-hate-working-in-the-food-industry-so-I-take-it-out-on-unassuming-customers. Our group of 7 teachers walked into Black Rock Pizza around 11:30 today, and we were met with, «Are you teachers? If you don’t have time, we can’t get your food to you in time». This was not said in a helpful, FYI way, but a «I don’t want to serve you» way. First, how did you know we were teachers? Not one of us were wearing teacher moo-moos. Not a single one. How did you know? Second, if that’s how you greet all of your customers, how do you have customers? Third, your pizza isn’t good enough to put up with such friendly customer service. I will not be returning.

Whether you are a pizza traditionalist of the red sauce, mozzarella with pepperoni variety or you like to mix it up with pesto sauce, white sauces, just olive oil, Thai flavors, BBQ style, spicy, sweet or whatever… these guys have you covered. They’ve even got different crust choices. Sweet Italian and multigrain. I’ve only tried the Sweet Italian and it’s very good. They’ve also got great salads, sandwiches and pastas. The pizza is a very good thin crust type and comes in small or larger sizes so if you’re with a group that wants to experiment with a few different pizza flavors you can easily do that. The atmosphere is casual but it is a «wait to be seated» with table service place. It’s a mom and pop type of business and is very relaxed. They have beer and wine at decent prices but don’t expect an extensive high-falutin wine list. This is a family friendly, Friday night, non pretentious, small townish kind of pizza joint that would be great for meeting large or small Groups. although any day is good. It comes complete with video games and tvs to watch sports. I come here for working lunches often with my tablet and enjoy the casual Atmosphere and the smaller personal pizza choices as well as the salads.

I swear I am on a bad service roll lately. Black Rock pizza is a spot I have been going to for years and years. I remember coming here when I was pregnant with my 10 year old son. Man…how times have changed. Tonight we were greeted and seated promptly but then everything changed. Our server was so distracted. He forgot the appetizer and tried to blame it on the kitchen. The pizza comes out and then he brings the appetizer about five minutes later. My #1 pet peeve happened… oh here is your food without any utensils and napkins. When we flagged him down to get some utensils and napkins you would’ve thought we were asking for something extra. Come on now… Didn’t get asked how the meal was. Didn’t get asked if we wanted more drinks. Pretty much ignored. Heard the table next to us get offered desert AND an explanation of what was on the desert menu. WTF! The food was great. The pizza was awesome and the tumbleweeds were amazing. Thank goodness or else BRP would’ve been getting one star.

We must drive about 20 miles and past 30 pizza restaurants to get to Black Rock. It’s our favorite and worth the trip. Family style casual restaurant. Always friendly service. It’s popular so you may have to wait… But once again, worth it. We seem to get the same thing every time. The Red Headed Stranger pizza is a pesto and sun dried tomato topped pizza and is amazing. We get the Italian crust and it’s flavorful and crisp. The family salad with gorgonzola dressing is the perfect partner to the pizza. Cold craft beers and wine by the glass takes the edge off. I haven’t been disappointed by Black Rock. Give it a try.

The pizzas here are made with really fresh, really creative ingredients. There are a variety of pizza options to choose from, each with a unique appeal and flavor profile. There are pizzas to suit a variety of different tastes, and each of the ones that I’ve chosen have been very good. You can’t go wrong with the Cowboy Poetry pizza, its won awards for a reason. Only two pizza sizes are offered(8″ and 12″). The beer selection here is good, too, along with the appetizers. I’ve been treated well on all of my visits, and for all of my takeout orders, by the staff. Orders can get a little pricey if you are hungry, or in a large group, but the quality of the food offered makes the experience at Black Rock every time. Cool place.

Black rock pizza is a nice pizza place with a mom and pops feel. When you walk in, it is easy to imagine little league baseball teams coming here after a game and having some good pizza to celebrate. The menu is original and imaginative without being weird. My family really likes the cowboy poetry pizza and the rattlesteaks for an appetizer. So if you are looking for good pizza give black rock a try.

I stick mainly with the delicious pizzas, but always love their desert cobb salad with their infamous Gorgonzola dressing. Regardless of the salad you choose — get that dressing! And plan on sharing the salad or having lunch for the next day. They don’t hold back on quantity. Pizza’s come with either wheat or sweet Italian crusts, both excellent. The menu groups pizzas by sauce — red, Olive oil, BBQ, etc. They also have some pretty fab sandwiches too. Desserts are homemade by the past owner and to die for, no matter what you choose. Great selection of beers & decent wine selection as well.

Tucked away in a suburban shopping center — albeit a Wild West-themed one — Black Rock may not look like an award-winning pizza joint, but it is. While the no-frills interior may not wow you, the pizza will. Their pizzas are generously sized and piled high with fresh, tasty toppings and some unusual combinations. There are plenty of vegetarian options, like the Pale Face, which I would definitely order again(provolone, fresh garlic, pine nuts and gorgonzola). Adventurous diners can go for a pizza with a Thai sauce or Buffalo wing sauce base. And, of course, you can mix and match to make your own custom pie. In addition to pizza, they also serve pasta, sandwiches, and salads. Black Rock also has a basic kids’ menu, assuming there are any kids in the world who don’t like pizza. The service has always been friendly and efficient and they have large tables as well as booths, making it a convenient place for families or large groups to meet up for a casual meal. I try to make it to Black Rock every time I visit Reno!

August 11, 2013 Sunday — dinner 05:30PM 2 adults Atmosphere — 5 star Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Used Unilocal to find a new pizza place to try Atmosphere — A good size dining area. It was a little empty when we got there, but by the time we left the place was filling in nicely. But it was still quite enough to talk. Food Appetizer — Order of wings, buffalo style. I would almost consider them dry, as I like my coated with sauce, okay dripping with sauce. There was enough to get your fingers messy on these. There was not much of a heat level to them but tasty. Drinks — I went with one of my classic choices for a beer, New Belgium’s Fat Tire. They were out of Icky. My Main Course — We went with the Cowboy Poetry, 16 inches for the two of us. I was killing my wife with too many pepperoni pizzas lately. What I liked was how they shredded their toppings, it allows for the taste spread across that pizza. I tasted that smoked bacon in every bite with the tri tip. Even though there were jalapeño peppers the heat was very mild on it. Dessert — stuffed with pizza, some is even coming home with us. Service — She was on her game, she had the box at the table when finishing up without asking. Future — I want to try the shredded pepperoni. The wife knows this too.
