CJ’s Palace is tucked away in a back corner in the galleria, kind of near Michaels. Parking is not a problem, the lot is huge. When you walk in you are asked, sushi or Chinese?. The Chinese is to the left and sushi to the right. My wife and I have been here a couple times and have always enjoyed it. The one thing that keeps us from coming back often are the prices. There prices are a little steep for Chinese food. We ordered the family dinner which includes soup, crab raggoon, spring roll and a fried shrimp. Each person orders an entrée to go along with the appetizers. I ordered house chow mein and my wife ordered beef with snow peas. The hot and sour soup was good, it was on the spicy side but had alot of flavor. The appetizers were delicious, cooked just right and served with sweet and sour sauce and hot mustard. The chow mein was brought out still steaming. You could see the chicken, beef, shrimp and water chestnuts. There was not an overwhelming taste of soy sauce as in some wok cooked dishes. The flavors of the chicken and beef, were so different but complemented each other. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and I think was also marinaded. The water chestnuts really do not taste like anything but add a nice crunch. We will be back sometime probably in the summer.

This review is for the Sushi. We were driving around aimlessly looking for a place to eat. Kind of had in mind to have Chinese and didn’t want to drive far from where we were shopping and decided stop by C J Palace. Got seated for the Chinese and decided before ordering anything that we really felt like having some sushi instead so we got up and sat down at the bar. What a refreshing change of pace to many of the other sushi places in town that for some reason put fruit, coconut, or fruit sauce on the majority of their of their rolls. All I have to say to that is YUCK. It is making it very difficult to order something that I like at those places. C J Palace is not one of those places. Their rolls are devoid of fruit of any kind. They took me back to what got me hooked on sushi in the first place. All of the rolls that I had were tasty, the fish was fresh and the Sushi chefs were nice and had good personalities. We got off to a slow start because they were preparing food for several large tables, but as soon as they left we were served in a timely manner. Marcus, the chef making our sushi took care of everything. He even served our drinks, the wait staff had a hard time clearing our used plates let alone refill our drinks. That is the main reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I kept saying to my dinner companion that this was the best sushi I’ve had in a long time. We’re definitely coming back. One suggestion I would have is put the AYCE appetizers on the menu so that we know they are available to order. Marcus made sure we were aware of them, but we did not know they were by reading the menu. I also should have asked if the sushi on the dinner menu with the Chinese food was any different than what was on the AYCE menu or if you could order those as well. I didn’t have the chance to do a side by side comparison there. They might be identical for all I know. Again some of the best Sushi I’ve had in a long time. Back to basics. Awesome!

I’m still a «fan» in the sense of the word. But the owner is Chinese, stick with Chinese here… we tried the sushi this weekend due to a group lunch where one of the members doesn’t eat sushi, so we needed a «dual cuisine» place. I do like the Chinese here, even if it is a bit spendy, but as far as quality of products, it can be worth it for the«Americanized» Chinese. While I frequent CJ Palace, somewhat regularly, our other friends in the group come enough they know the owner and have a history and some candid banter. He is a wild character, but works hard it seems. Regardless, the lunch menu is not very creative and the rolls took a while to come out. There is no cilantro here(not a big deal), and they aren’t using cucumbers due to the salmonella outbreak(a few months ago…). I tried to make my own roll(usually krab, tuna, cucumber, cilantro and lemon), got a little off track when he didn’t have two of the ingredients I like to use and forgot lemon. So it was just krab, ebi and tuna… I specified krab stick and by the end I couldn’t finish the roll, the crab stick was dried out, the shrimp looked dried out too… he asked me how it was and I said okay, he implied it was because of the ingredients I chose. I beg to differ in that the ingredients were not the freshest. We were also seated at a table due to the fact we weren’t all eating sushi and the owner took the order vs. having a paper sheet, it was a little awkward. He did bring sake bombs because of our regular guests, but only offered it to the guys, since its a «man thing»?? The fish slices weren’t uniform although the rolls didn’t fall apart. I’ve learned skip the sushi here, it wasn’t my first choice and should have went with my gut and not spent the money on it here. But its an experience and now I know to stick with the Chinese food side of things. It is a little bewildering that the Chinese ingredients seem fresh while the sushi ingredients are not on the same level.

We went in on Tuesday night with our young son. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated immediately! We ordered the $ 15.99 dinner for me and my husband and to share ours with our son. I have never had a more delicious dinner ever! The egg flour drop soup was amazing! The spring rolls were amazing and our entrées were amazing! I ordered sweet and sour chicken and my husband had the spicy chicken. I enjoyed his more than mine! I give them 5 stars for the wonderful waiting staff and the overall comfortable atmosphere! The food was a bonus! You get what you pay for so I agree with their prices! We will be returning!
