This Popeye’s is located near the Legends Outlet Mall and Scheel’s megastore in Sparks. The restaurant is modern and clean with a bright interior covered in Louisiana artwork and has lots of seating and a drive through. Access is a bit difficult, but it is much easier to hit on the way out of the shopping complex. The fried chicken was spot on paired with the Cajun mashed potatoes and biscuit. Unfortunately they were out of their signature Cajun fries which is a big disappointment for the chain. Overall a solid choice for fried chicken with flavor.

Great food. Poor service. Dirty. Hard to find a table. Not because of too many people, but dirty, empty tables. Napkin holder on our table was empty. Had to take another holder from a dirty table. Order came without the requests chicken and tarter sauce. This should be a nice place… but it’s not.

I knew someone a number of years ago who was in the fast food franchising business. I asked him what was his favorite fast food was and he answered without hesitation, «Popeyes». Its the best fried chicken and fixins at a fast food joint. Yes sometimes the service could be better, but the chicken, mashed potatoes. And red beans and rice are the best. Who needs french fries? The locations in Reno/Sparks are all new. And great music too. Blues and jazz and ESPN on the tv’s. Who’s complaining?

The food is good. The service needs to be worked on quite a bit. Not very friendly and you don’t get the welcoming come back feeling you get at other fast food places. The several times I have gone to this location my order is never right. You have a 50⁄50 chance your sweet ice tea is actually sweet. I’ve had to call the manager every time I have been there because I received the wrong something in my order and was always told to drive back the 20+ miles and they would fix it. Not worth the gas, time or thought to do so. Have stopped going to this location.

Nothing says fast food like getting home to see your order is completely wrong. But! You know what fixes a wrong order? Sauce… Ya, getting sauce to eat whatever it is that you didnt order. Easy enough. However, this order, my first and last of Popeyes had no sauce. The gal asked what sauce and it still didnt make it into our bag. Thanks Popeyes for ruining my night!

My family and I really enjoy their recipes. However, I think there is something seriously wrong with their order accuracy. The last five times I went through the drive thru, my order had either ranged from slightly to completely wrong. One occasion, after calling and complaining that my ‘mild’ tenders were actually spicy and my children would not eat them, they offered to replace it. That seems all fine and dandy except that I live half an hour away and making an hour round trip is entirely contradictive if the convenience one hopes to enjoy in a drive thru service. I think that spending $ 30+ dollars on fast food for a family of four is a bit excessive especially when it always ends up a hassle. Me and my husband are ready to swear off Popeye’s permenatly.

Food is great but every time I go through the drummer thru, the employees can’t seem to get my order right… Ever. I order tenders ever time and I always open the box to find wings and breast. Nothin against the food. The drive thru people just need to get it together

Food is good. Side of beans and rice is only half full for $ 1.89. We were told that is the way they do it. Also, if you are handicapped and require a handicapped parking spot, do go there. The further most spots from the front door is where their handicapped parking is. Shameful

Usually I don’t see a reason to review fast food places… But I’m going to make an exception here! My first experience was with the rude hut at the register. He rolled his eyes when I ordered. Couldn’t bother to be even a little bit friendly. He snatched my debit card out of my hand and then just barely could hand it back to me. I ordered surf n turff to go… While waiting for my order I filled my drink. A female employee pretty much pushed her way in to spray cleaner all over the lids for the drinks. Finally my food is ready so I head home. I open the container to find 2.5 pieces of chicken and NOTHING else. I will never return here.

We were hitting this Popeyes late in the evenings and food was either very good or so overdone you could not chew it! I thought maybe it was because it was late at night. So I went for lunch… The first time was good, ordered the 3 piece chicken tenders. Went once again and ordered the same. What I got was entirely different! I got a bunch of chicken pieces, and once again, unable to eat it. How is it so hard to get this right. There is a number on the drive thru window to call about your experience and a website. Neither produced any action from the franchise. Guess people just don’t care anymore.

Way better than KFC. This location has never failed me. The food comes out fast, hot and tender. The chicken isn’t chewy or stringy like some other places have served.

Went through Drive-Thru at 2150hrs, Ordered a Shrimp Po-Boy sandwich, was told that they did not have any. Also noticed that the chairs were up on top of the tables in the dining room and then the lights went out as I was exiting the Drive Thru. It was not even 2200 yet.(Closing is 2200) I called the customer service line, they took my info. The next day a district manager called me and explained that it only takes 4 min to make the Shrimp Po-Boy and the chairs are supposed to be down until after closing. She sent me $ 10 in gift certificates for my next meal. A few weeks later I went to use the gift certificates. Went in at 2145 hrs, ordered the Shrimp Po-Boy, cajun fries and a Dr. Pepper. The Shrimp Po-Boy was over cooked, not dressed properly, the fries were cold and had no cajun flavor and I got a Root Beer. I also noticed the chairs were up while the store lights were on. Once i discovered the issues above and prior to 2200 hrs(GPSTIME) the lights went out. I guess they closed. wont go there again, I would rather spend my cash at a place who cares. Oh yes, one more thing a young man with the nametag James or Jesus was playing on his phone as I was waiting at the drive-up window. I guess he could not help someone else or find something to do while on the clock/company’s time.

Not sure why it takes 15 minutes to order a 12 piece dark meat meal, but I can order a standard 16 piece instantly. Does the few extra dark meat pieces really make that big if a difference? The chicken is OK. Lots of breading A little overrated if you ask me.

ya know we have been here a lot since it opened, well I guess being here before it opened would have been a visit to an empty lot huh. Well anyway, the first five times we went they ALWAYS forgot to put something we ordered in the bag; this was drive through. But they did remember to charge us. Being stupid I did not notice until I got to my destination. We were heading home and decided we did not want to cook when we got there so Popeyes it was. We opted to eat in since as my sweety pie says and as it turns out is very true, the food sucks once you get it home lets eat in. So we order, or tried to order as the guy taking the order seemed to have a very difficult time understanding what we wanted. I must admit it was beyond pale as we wanted two number threes. one with fries and one cole slaw. Well we finally got it straightened out and got our food to the table. My chicken was slightly undercooked and Mr N’s was well done to a hard consistency. As we drove off a comment was made, This place has lost its charm, the end.

Fast food chicken that’s not overly greasy.(I think they use a broaster .) I recommend the spicy version. The sides are all good, depending on what you are craving. Usually crowded dining room, free refills for dine in customers at the self serve soda fountain. The drive thru is nice and speedy. Always ask for the specials before ordering.

I’m never upset by Popeye’s food. It’s generally the same everywhere and I’m just too in love with the gravy. Yum yum. The only discrepancy I had here was that the service was slightly off. They called out number by mistake when it was someone else’s order. So, when I had gone to the counter to get the food, it wasn’t there and there was a huge confusion and fuss about it. Other than that, can’t complain.

This is the second time I’ve been here(several months apart) and I have been really disappointed both times. Main complaint: chicken not served at hot temperature, chicken texture/taste is weird, stringy, seems like frankenchicken. Fried batter is low on flavor/appeal. Mashed potatoes and gravy: weird, no potato flavor, chicken bouillon and cayenne-flecked gravy. I had the basic chicken meal first time, second time a chicken po’boy sandwich. Couldn’t finish either meal. I never thought KFC would look like gourmet dining, but it does after partaking of Popeye’s specialities. Staff is always super nice, it’s not their fault that the food is so odd.

I haven’t heard many good things about this Popeye’s, so maybe Husband and I always manage to hit them at just the right time, but… we have never had to wait, always had good service, and have had consistently amazing food. For a family dinner that costs around $ 20, this is the place. I adore their chicken, especially with the hot sauce on top. Their red beans and rice is one of Husband’s favorite things in the world. Their mashed potatoes and gravy are shockingly good for a fast-food place. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Popeye’s or about this particular location. I am simply happy to have them here in Reno, even if we do have to drive all the way out to the edge of Sparks to partake.

So I waited a whole 24 hours after its grand opening to get my foot in the door. Got here about 4:10 pm and saw a long line outside the door — grrrr. But I thought I’d be a good Unilocaler and wait out the line and actually try out the food to write up a proper review. The half hour wait actually went by pretty fast — everyone in line was seriously excited about the food and no one seemed to mind, especially since exiting customers were streaming out with giant greasy smiles on their faces. Turns out one of the reasons for such a long wait was that so many of the folks seemed to be ordering really large orders to go. As in «Can I have the 12 piece family pack?»). A woman behind me said fearfully, «What if we finally get up there and they’ve run out of chicken?!») Talk about fear-mongering! I got a 2-piece chicken order with a side of mashed potatoes. It came with a small biscuit(I asked for butter, but they were all out and apologized profusely for not having any at the moment). The chicken was hot, crispy, juicy and absolutely fantastic. The mashed potatoes were great, peppery and there was enough gravy to keep me happy. Lots of staff and everyone was really trying hard to keep the customers happy despite the long lines. And Mack — since you were sitting comfortably outside in the parking lot under a canopy watching the dollar signs rolling in, it may have been a nice thing to offer your customers waiting outside in the hot sun a little cup of something cold). I’ll be back for sure — once the lines die down!
