I’m picky about my Subways and went a little out of the way after reading reviews. It’s true, this is one of the best subways I’ve gone to. Food was great and service exceptional!

This locally owned franchise is one of the cleanest and definitely the friendliest Subway restaurant that I have visited. The food was fresh and everything was made perfectly.

I avoided Subway for years because of the general low quality of the food. The meats and veggies always had an over-refrigerated lack of flavor, and the bread was like puffed out sawdust – all air, no substance. I’ve always preferred Port of Subs or Blimpie’s as far as overall quality. Last couple of tries though, Subway was actually pretty good, it seemed like the quality of the ingredients was better and the bread MUCH better, and with more variety. This last visit, however, reminded me somewhat of the Subway days of old. I’m not saying it was terrible, there was just an overall lack of flavor. The flavors of the meat and vegetables didn’t stand out at all, everything looked fresh but it didn’t have the corresponding taste. Even the Italian herb bread, which I really liked before, was slightly spongy and didn’t taste as fresh baked as the last couple times. The kid likes it though, and the $ 5 foot long is still a pretty good value. I like the fact that they have spinach as an ingredient, and they have a couple different sauces, like a balsamic-type one for instance, so at least you have more options than you did back in the day. And yes, there’s the health issue, which I personally think is overhyped. You can get fairly healthy food in most sandwich shops, just by being selective with your choices of meat and toppings. I think one way that Subway keeps the fat content down is by using turkey-based meats: for example, the Cold Cut Combo, which includes bologna, salami and ham, is made with all turkey based meats. As far as this particular location(on Greenbrae near Pyramid), if I’m in the area I’d much rather opt for the nearby Yellow Sub across Pyramid in the Scolari’s shopping center(review to follow). I’d settle for Subway if I was travelling through a small town with very few food options, or with other people who wanted to go – convenience reasons basically. But as far as my personal preference, I think I’m going to start exercising my other options again. One last note – it really annoys me when someone carrying their wrapped sandwich has it «cradled» in their arms like a baby. It looks strange, like they’re carefully carrying the Baby Jesus Cold Cut Combo or something. With my strange imagination, I picture things like a sandwich-based Nativity scene… you could have Jared in the Joseph role… the wise men could bring the shakers(salt, pepper and oregano) or maybe the vinegar and oil bottles… and we could all sit around and sing carols like«Deck the Halls… with five dolla foot long!» sigh…I need help…

I love locals, but you have to try this locally owned franchise. This is the CLEANEST Subway I have ever been in, and the people are very nice. The food is fresh, they offer this Fuze ice tea that is delicious as a fountain drink, and the restaurant itself is bright and airy. Top notch!

Yes, it’s just another Subway but they have PIZZA too! My Subway doesn’t have pizza *insert pout* They had crispy crusts and the fresh ingredients I’ve come to expect from Subway.
