The train car dining area is sadly the only thing this restaurant has going for them. Their food is staggeringly mediocre and the service isn’t much better.

Do I need to write a smart and witty review? No. If you’re a local then you know it’s delicious, consistent, and a good experience every time. If you’re visiting, try it. It’s dining in a train car, which by itself is awesome, but the food stands on it’s own feet. Reasonable prices and great service. Frank’s is simply on the right TRACK(see what I did there?)

I used to love this place. Now it’s just a hassle. We had to wait forever for our table, and when we got one, we had to squeeze through the aisle to our seats. It was really cramped and uncomfortable. We both ordered breakfast, which was subpar, and ate as fast as we could to get the hell out of there. Every time I think of stopping in to grab a bite to eat with the kids, I think of the overcrowding, and opt out. Too bad. They used to be one of my favorites.

It was tolerable, nothing special. Went around 130pm and it was packed. Had the grilled cheese with fries. The fries were awful; they had a coating that ruined them. The grilled cheese was rather good, but I was unable to get the waiters attention to rectify the problem. Don’t bother with the fries and order any other side. Don’t expect any economical savings here as I felt the prices are higher than they should be.

I always heard such good places about this place and I wasn’t unimpressed when arriving. Our waiter was responsive and wonderful our food was fantastic. The price was a little high but just for the amazing service, food and fun environment Id definitely recommend it. It’s so cute inside and outside, you must at least check it out once!

Frank’s Diner is great! Having passed by a few times, we weren’t sure what to expect. It’s very obviously a train car from the outside, so I wasn’t sure what the inside would look like. It is lovely! We walked in and had our choice of a few booths. We sat down and saw the menu — breakfast and dinner. Breakfast all day?! Yes please! I got the ham steak with scrambled eggs and cheese on top, hash browns, and a biscuit. My boyfriend got a bacon cheeseburger with hash browns on top. I had a apple cobbler afterwards. I loved everything about what I had! The ham, eggs, hash browns, biscuit, and cobbler were all amazing. I think I may have over eaten because everything was so delicious! My boyfriend’s burger was also delicious. The train car environment is really fun to be in. Our waitress was nice. Frank’s Diner was a really good time and I’m thinking it’ll be one of our meal staples in the area!

I work close by and pass the place every day. I mentioned it to my wife and as we like to explore new and different sections of Spokane on the weekends we decided to start with breakfast at Franks. We arrived there early Saturday morning(drove over from the Rathdrum area) and there was already a ‘wait’ list — we took ‘next available for 2′, waited less than 10 minutes and were seated at the counter. The crowd and the continuing arrival of more people, even large groups of 5 and 6 with children patiently waiting when told it would be 30 minutes are a very real indication of the popularity of the place. I ordered a 3-egg omelet — 1 or 3 eggs are the options, what happened to 2 or 4 — how odd :) My wife had ‘Joe’s Special’ which she greatly enjoyed. The rail car atmosphere brought back memories of when we have traveled with Amtrak — crowded and noisy in a pleasant way that still allows conversation. The service was excellent; friendly, efficient and fast. Can’t ask for more than that! The food was tasty and hot of the grill/stove. My omelet was very good but I’m a larger guy that burns through the calories and usually have a bit larger breakfast(my biggest and most favorite meal). We will be back and do highly recommend the place. Side Note: They serve some alcohol apparently as 2 people next to us had Mimosas with the little Champagne bottle(again reminding us of the train trips).

Good food and you get to eat in a train car. Sundays they are slammed for breakfast but they are fast and the food is great. Try a scramble or an omelet and enjoy a hearty and probably unhealthy breakfast just like you ate growing up. They are great when you want breakfast for dinner too.

Stopped here for a late breakfast last week while I was working in Spokane. I was actually headed to another place, but passed by here and it intrigued me, so I stopped. The restaurant is in a an old rail car, which has tons of character. I love places like this, so I’m glad I stopped. Seating was limited, but I only had to wait a few minutes for a small two person booth to open(they only have booths and a counter, no tables). It can be a tight fit, but again, the charm and character overrode that for me. Service was good and I didn’t have to wait long to order. I got a bacon and cheddar omelette with a biscuit(of course) and I thought the omelette was good, but it did not have enough cheese. Lots of bacon, but definitely not enough cheese. Hash browns were good but should have gotten onions added(the waitress asked). Overall a good experience and worth a stop if you like diners.

I had tried the Frank’s Diner on the Newport highway a week or so ago and decided to give the downtown Frank’s a try today. I’m so glad I did! It’s always best to come at an off time to avoid the crowds. The family and I came in at around 3:30PM. Place was pretty quiet and we were immediately seated. The train interior is slightly different than the other Frank’s but the food is still the delicious breakfast I’ve come to expect from them. I got the Creole Seafood Omelet and of course it was delicious. The hashbrowns at this location tasted better! Cook must have broght his A game because everything tasted amazing. Great place with a unique and charming atmosphere and equally impressive breakfasts. I’ll definitely be back.

They were crazy busy and STILL got us seated, ordered, and served in warp speed! The waitress that is usually there to spill coffee on us and ignore our questions wasn’t there today, but Lorraine was, and she is a doll! So sweet and attentive, even while running around like she was speed skating for the Olympics! Well done!

LOVE Frank’s! This is an icon for Spokane. I have never had a bad experience or a bad meal here in many visits! Old fashioned cooking with enough food for two on a plate for one. Cooked to order, steaming hot when it arrives.(hungry yet?). If you have never been here, don’t be in a hurry for early breakfast – worth the short wait and it is a little loud if you are sensitive to that, because the place is small; however, it is an experience and you will be enjoying the atmosphere and food so much you won’t even notice anything else once you get your super-yummy food!

Flew into Spokane last week and asked the rental car desk where to get a good breakfast. Unanimously they told me Frank’s. Boy they weren’t lying! Had possibly the best eggs benedict I’ve ever had. Eggs were poached perfectly unlike some of the reviews have said. Hash browns were crispy and service was perfect. Franks is in a cool little building that is charming and the wait was short. The only negative I have is the price. This place is not cheap for breakfast food. Over $ 10 for breakfast food is too high. But otherwise the experience was wonderful.

I took the recommendation of my cab driver and checked out Frank’s for breakfast and was not disappointed. Tucked away in downtown Spokane, the old rail car is tight, but offers a cozy place for one of the best breakfast places in town. Seating is definitely a premium so don’t be surprised to wait, however the counter offers some additional space and a great vantage to watch the culinary magic happen. Their menu is loaded with diner classics, but I really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes served with their gravy/onion topped hash browns. That with their strong coffee made for a great morning meal. Will definitely be a staple when visiting Spokane in the future.

Spectacular! First time here and we were very impressed. Ordered chicken and waffles, corn beef hash, Texas omelet and the hobo omelet. All the food was outstanding and tested very fresh. Fast, friendly service. Waited in the outside gazebo for about 25min to get seated and enjoyed the free coffee. Highly recommend Frank’s!

What a cool little place to eat at! The cable car is pretty awesome and the service was great. They have a good selection of food on the menu. I had the pumpkin waffle with a side of fruit and egg whites. So happy with my meal! It was delicious, just the right amount of pumpkin taste in the waffle. I will come visit this place again next time I’m in Spokane!

Chicken fried steak with beef gravy was good. Hash were good. Crispy outside but moist inside. Breakfast sausage were thick and delicious. They messed up on my milkshake order but it’s no biggie… I would stop there again if we are in Spokane again

A Spokane icon. Frank’s will give you a taste of an old time diner car with new time traditional fare. Its fabulous. My favorite is the breakfast and because I don’t live in Spokane I don’t get much further than that. I love that you can choose to douse your hashbrowns with gravy and onions. Its a free add-on. The biscuits are scrumptiously homemade. Anything you get here should be satisfying. It really is in an old diner car, so seating is limited. Wait can be long(they do serve unlimited coffee if the line extends outside for any length of time.) It can get hot inside during the summer. I’ve never been, but there is a Frank’s North that may not suffer from these problems. But I’m happy with this locale so haven’t ventured out.

Very impressed. There menu has a wide variety of options for each category. I ordered the jalapeño pepper jack bacon burger w/harsh brows. Both items were delicious! The cost for a meal here is definitely not as expensive as some people have alluded to. Overall, great atmosphere, good food and excellent/friendly service. Look forward to returning in the near future.
