«The Most Beautiful Plants I Have Ever Seen« My wife and I visited the Gaiser Conservatory in Spokane Washington last week and truly enjoyed our visit. The conservatory is located in Manito Park, and sits near the Duncan Garden area. The Conservatory plants are the prettiest and most well maintained garden, I have ever seen. After walking through and viewing the gorgeous flowers and cactus plants, you really start to relax. Its a very peaceful place to visit. Absolutely a must see when you are visiting the Spokane area.

Gaiser Conservatory is a great free attraction located within Manito Park. It sits near the Duncan Garden area and has a few parking spots right at the front. I find it a peaceful place to visit, especially in the winter months. It isn’t very large but it is packed with plants to meet. Take a stroll through with your grandkids and see their eyes light up at the little fountain, the spiky cacti, and the lush plants.

Beautiful collection of botanical flowers. Many kinds of cactuses some of which were blooming. Located next to Duncan gardens, not to be missed.

If I were a publicity agent for this spot, I would proclaim it as one of the best free attractions in Spokane. Be sure to go around the holidays when they deck the place out with lights. The plants and flowers are meticulously taken care of and there is always something new when we visit. It shouldn’t take long to visit and it’s a great spot to take some photos(no tripods allowed). If someone in your group gets tired of standing, there’s even a bench to rest on while someone *cough*(photography-obsessed bf) proceeds to take 200 pictures.(Not kidding). The view outside is also spectacular. Also, you’re in Spokane. What else are you going to do? ;)

I went to the Gaiser Conservatory because it’s the only place in town I could find that had lots flowers this time of year in Spokane, WA. I was taking close-up pictures for part of my homework assignment from my photography class on «depth of field.» As I was about to walk in the door I saw a sign that says«Tripods are not permitted in the conservatory.» Not being able to use a tripod makes close-up photography in not-so-great light a lot more difficult. Maybe next time I’ll bring a mono-pod! :) The flowers were beautifal, and many of the areas had good light in spite of the cloud cover from the rain. If you’re going to be taking pictures, be careful! In many places waters drips and runs from the ceiling and hanging plants. My camera almost got wet a few times. And even though it’s weather sealed, why take extra chances?
