I am separating myself from the four star pack, and giving this place FIVE stars. The atmosphere is pure bliss. The food is good basic box lunch fare. They do have some creative sandwiches. The people who run the place are lovely. My only complaint is they are not open year round.

How could the ambiance of Manito Park allow anything less than 3 stars? A wonderful place for lunch, and more most — ice cream or coffee. They serve Dryers icecream — and give 4 flavors to choose from — hope you like huckleberry, cookies & cream, chocolate or vanilla — for a beautiful park café — I would hope for more. The sandwhiches and wraps are good — looks like they expanded their menu this summer — which is great, always plenty of seating too. I was surprised today with such a simple order of ice cream cones that the person kept getting the order wrong — am guessing she was ready for a break — it was busy and she seemed distracted. Hmmmm… what would make this a 4 or even a 5? More choices. If a 5 much better choices — could you imagine an amazing dinner in the park? More gracious service that is not shoved through a window without friendly service. you can’t beet the ambiance… I wonder if that’s what they’re counting on?

Always excellent service from usually young student employees who care. The coffee and smoothies are excellent as well. Great summer walk to park and grab a treat. Very pet friendly too. My dog loves the place as much as we do. A must to visit as it is seasonal only. BUMMER! I think winter would be awesome on the weekends for coffee and warm treats. Stop by and pay a visit. Pick up the 10 percent off card too

A perfect hidden little spot in Spokane’s best park. A great place to grab a coffee and a treat on a summer morning, or a sandwich lunch in the shade of some beautiful trees. It’s being run by the Spokane Parks Dept. now which kind of takes away from it’s authenticity/originality a bit but its still great and unique local spot.

I can’t help but feel this just isn’t somewhere you go strictly for the food. I mean– ithey have decent, sandwiches and their morning pastries are pretty run of the mill … but nothing beats an ice cream at the park bench on a hot day. If anything, you are paying for the experience– not to mention the location is AMAZING. Smack in the middle of a beautiful park with plenty of tables to sit in the shade. There just isn’t too many ways you can go wrong in a place like that!

Nothing quite says summer like a picnic in the park. And Manito Park, nestled on Spokane’s South Hill might just be the perfect place for that. The Park Bench is a small café sells deli sandwiches, gourmet salads, and ice cream bars. For little ones — the«puppy in a sack«is a big hit. It includes a hot dog, chips, and a lollipop. Benches are available, but I recommend spreading a blanket under the trees. We keep a picnic blanket, Frisbee and football in the car for the spontaneous picnic catered by The Park Bench.

I am biased because family friends run this place, but I love it. It is a tradition for me every time I am in Spokane to walk down from my grandma’s house to this little place in the park for coffee. The Park Bench is in an old building in Manito Park that I think used to sell food for people to feed the monkeys in the old zoo. Or something like that. Now it is a café that sells coffee, smoothies, and lunches. The setting, right in between the rose garden and the duck pond is perfect. There are always retired ladies, young moms with their kids, and friends gathered around the picnic tables in the shade of the large trees. They are only open in the summer, through Labor Day. This is also the last year that the current owners plan on operating it. I hope that the new owners, whoever they may be, keep the the Park Bench the wonderful meeting place that it has been for the past 5 years.
