I am visiting Spokane for the first time and I stopped in your market last night. Today I am enjoying the best carrot cake cupcake(vegan!) that I’ve ever had. And your staff was so sweet and accommodating. Thank you!

Great co-op. Came here for a little shopping for the week and ended up getting lunch a few times because of the yummy salad/deli selections. Oh, and the cheese section. So refreshing to shop at a place that buys local, supports local, seasonal and fresh items. Great supplement section and lots of vegan options. The staff was friendly.

Treated a co-worker to lunch and decided to head to Main Market. As soon as you walk in you will have the deli/seating area to the left and the market/salad bar to the right. I liked the layout and cleanliness of the market and the fresh produce aroma’s was a definite plus. The hot/cold bar is pretty small but it does have a lot to choose from. I placed my salad in a to go box(although we sat down and ate there), I mixed it up and got the mixed greens, spinach, mozzarella cheese, sliced olives, lemon/garlic chicken, croutons, bacon bits, Cesar salad dressing on top. I did wedge out a little corner to add their Indian salad mix to my plate and topped it all off with their fresh goat cheese. I loved it, so fresh, clean, and no overpowering salt/sugar taste. very good, the goat cheese was awesome and went back to pour some more onto my plate. Once i finished up with my lunch, my coworker and I walked around to take a look at the layout and items of the store. I did notice how organized all their items are and how separated their bulk foods from produce are which is nice. I love that they have goat meat for purchase. About an hour later and 50.00 or so spent I walked out happy and a new member of the Main Market Co-op. It seemed like a perfect idea to sign up, i know i will definitely be back here often to purchase my fresh produce, cheese, and meats.

The Spokane MM Co-op is exactly what this city needed, I like everything about it. I have been involved with the store even before it opened. The idea of it being sustainable and supporting the local economy and community is very important to me. I grew up in the Mid-West where there wasn’t a whole lot of community owned grocery stores let alone healthy choice food stores(I guess that area of the country is still a little slow to the whole grass roots movement of organic and local) it was all corporate owned places back there. If you are wanting excellent selections of products, ranging from produce(fruit and vegetables) to bulk and herbs and supplements this is the place you should be shopping. And its all locally grown(when is season) so you know you are getting fresh and organic(no pesticides and GMOs). I can’t speak as to the meats and dairy as I am Vegan but I know that if you are in the market for those products then again you should be shopping here. I like that its local farmers, I see them all the time coming into the store to bring in milk and meats(they bring it in their cars or pickups) it’s not a huge corporate rig that comes in. If you are interested in eating the foods from animals that lived loving lives and were able to eat green grasses and drink from fresh water sources then again buy you food here. If you are interested in buying foods from animals that were treated inhumanly and were injected with hormones and antibiotics, then you might not want to buy your food at the MM coop. Are the prices higher at the MM? Yes, but that question should be raised in the following way: Is it important to you in supporting local farmers and local economies and eating whole, natural foods? My argument is this, you can eat cheap, processed and nutritionally dead foods now and pay the price later, or you can pay pennies on the dollar now and put the best foods possible in the area into your bodies. the choice is yours in one way you will pay for it, through medical bills and low quality of life. You don’t put lamp oil in your car and expect it to run at optimum performance, the same principle applies to the human body, its needs the best nutrition to run at perk efficiency. Another great thing about the MM coop is the staff, they are all very friendly and knowledgeable people. They will even order a specialty item for you if they don’t have it in stock. And the best for last — the salad bar and the deli, the store does a great job at putting out awesome salads and soups and the made to order sandwiches are awesome. I like that they offer wide varieties for both the carnivores and herbivores. Now along with all of the great things and benefits of the store, there is one tiny complaint and that is the physical location — oh trust me I love that it’s downtown — but the issue is with the parking. They have only a small lot of probably 20 spaces, so depending on the time of day you’ll be hard pressed to find a spot. You can park in the lot between the store and Boots but that will cost you $ 2 and trust me, even if you only run in for 5 min, you’ll get a ticket if you don’t pay, that lot is watched non-stop. So if you are going to shop it’s best to do it early before 10am or later after 3pm you shouldn’t have any issues parking in the Coop lot during those hours, it the rush hour between 11:00 — 1:30 that seems to be the busiest hours. You can always park on the street for a couple of quarters but those spaces are rarely available. I would also like to make this last comment — I think the cost for a membership is a tiny amount to pay for all the good and benefits of this incredible store, I watched it grow into the best store in the county from it’s infancy, I saw the entire deli/salad bar grow into what it is today and the re-organization of the store to it’s current state. The membership board has done a great job with this store and I love it and support it as much as I can. I think anyone with a healthy lifestyle and being a «foodie» will find it amazing as well — I’m just waiting for a MM coop t-shirt. Go there, you’ll love it, it has what you want!!!

I never imagined pining for Whole Foods until moving here and going to the wanna be store that is ridiculously expensive and starts with an ‘H’ — then I discovered this store. It isn’t cheap but it is the best store of its kind here. Anyone who truly supports local producers gets my dollars. They also have a great take away food section.

Great place, love the amazing salad bar and hot breakfast & lunch bar. Good produce & of course so many healthy and local options. Fun staff. Good member deals now that I joined. You get what you pay for; here you get the best.

I love supporting my local co-op. Everyone here was very friendly. Great selection of produce. You can rent your own freezer to stock up on selected meats. They also have the best fresh mozzarella balls and great variety of olives. They grow their own herbs up on the roof too. The deli section is amazing. Great place to stop and grab a sandwich, salad and a drink.

Highly recommend! We stopped here on our way out of town after getting a flat tire changed a couple of blocks away. We were going to stop at a café and grab coffee and sandwiches, but then we came upon the Co-op! Right when I walked in, I was greeted by the staff behind the deli/salad counter. They were readily available to help, and gave me time to choose what I wanted with all of the delicious looking choices! We went with the Tuna Melt, and Vegetable Panini. They were both out of control yummy! Honestly, their veggie panini is probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. They were not too pricey, about $ 6.99 for each. I also grabbed a couple of their cookies, one snickerdoodle and one chocolate chip, both delicious! I high recommend stopping here for a quick and incredible lunch.

This place was conveniently located across from the convention center. I wanted a lunch that was quick and to-go, so the salad bar was perfect. The bar is small yet very well equipped. At my visit, the price was $ 8.99 a pound, which is very good. All the toppings were fresh and excellent, but I especially liked the caprese salad(that cheese!) and the seasoned, chopped chicken. The dressings were good, too. I tried the green goddess and(I think) a white wine vinaigrette. The resulting salad was delicious. I was recommending this as a meal option to lots of folks at Worldcon.

A very great health food store! The main market offers a wide variety of local and organic produce and goods for a very fair price(depending on what you’re after.) they offer many sustainable options for health and beauty products, and also have an AMAZING cold salad bar. Also just a very nice place to look around or find a nice micro-brew!

We don’t have whole foods but we do have main market! I love their, always changing, hot & cold salad bar. They have a wide variety of locally made/supplies products and goods. Check their Facebook page for daily updates about what’s cooking. A little pricey but that’s the cost of fresh and healthy these days.

Really cute and quaint. I get that it’s a co-op but their prices are bordering on straight stupid. If you want to shop local and eat organic/all natural definitely go to Pilgrims. They have amazing prices and a better selection then what was available here. Trust me, this isn’t any sort of Spokane«must try» joint as some may lead you to believe. PILGRIMS. PILGRIMS. PILGRIMS!

I worked for a health food store when I lived in Billings, and nearly cried when we found Main Market after we moved to Spokane! The prices are good, and a lot of local fare. We get most of our groceries here, and the occasional breakfast sandwich! They’re super yummy, but oh how I wish they had a gluten free version! The staff is lovely-Ariel, Shane, Cyd(when she was there) – awesome people! There are others, but I don’t know their names… yet. They have a staggering cheese selection – most are local, and local, organic fruits and veggies. Ooh! And local coffee in bulk! We’re addicted!

When it comes to Main Market, I have a suggestion: come for the deli, stay to look around and see what went into your food. The deli and salad bar are both excellent– their half-sandwich is bigger than some full sandwiches I’ve seen, comes with house-made chips, and is made just about any way you want, with VERY fresh ingredients. But the deli is only half of the equation. The store is also a farmer’s co-op, with a lot of their stock coming from local farms and growers, a business move I can always get behind. I adore their selection of cheeses especially. Ever had sun-dried tomato white cheddar? Would you like to? As a food enthusiast who demands freshness in all they do, it is my obligation to not only frequent this market as often as possible, but to share it with as many people as I can. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some huckleberry soda to purchase.

Like a toy store is for kids this place is for people who like what I call«down to earth food & produce» you’ll find items here you didn’t know you wanted or needed. Staff is attentive and friendly. I inquired about whole chicken and if they where going to get more, one of their staff walked back to their office to ask for me. As awesome as I think they are, they sell some items you might find at safeway for more than what it costs elsewhere. For example their organic herbs right now are 3.50 ish. Different brand same organic herbs they carry, safeway sells for 2.50 ish. I’ve experience something like this with their milk too. A lot more expensive for the same dairy farms organic milk in main market than safeway. I don’t work at safeway just using them as an example. For this reason only, price difference in identical to similar items, they will never get 5 stars from me. They are 4 stars awesome! But no 5 star greatness here.

I think that my favorite part about it here is the super delicious salad bar. They even have it all ready to go first thing in the morning, so cookoo people like me that like salad for breakfast can do so. They also have a pretty good selection of ready made deli items. The soups being the best. Wish they had more dairy & gluten free options though. The staff here is really friendly as well. They seem to all really enjoy each others company, as well as the customers.

I used to walk over to this market from the Univeristy when I was craving a fresh and healthy lunch. The salads are all very good with an eclectic variety. I used to really like the Farro salad, but my favorite thing here was the sweet potato gratin with basil and parmigiana regiano, so good. You definitely pay for what you get here, local organic produce artfully prepared.

Wow i just had an awesome lunch here! I had a small order of salad, there four choices and all are good. And had three pieces of chicken that had boneless thighs. They heated it up. Wild rice and chicken soup was very good! I went and grabbed an healthy and natural engery drink from the store, spent about $ 9.00 and was left with my tummy feeling good, and taste buds satisfied. Effort and thought are put into every dish they offer here! The service was friendly, down to earth, and fast. Sure it’s a little hipster in here, but their service was very professional! Plus, you gotta love the fact that this place is a co-op! And a small one at that, it’s refreshing to come here in comparison to PCC or Whole foods back in Seattle, something about feeling more welcome here!

They have a green salad and other item salad buffet with a fixed price per pound. YAHOOO The variety is as good as Whole Foods. Plenty of spinach and sprouts.

The produce is always fresh with fair prices. As someone who juices a lot, the difference between organic and non-organic produce is obvious. The ginger you find here has SO much flavor compared to something you could find at the local supermarket. Main Market also has a killer bakery and deli to round out their offerings as well. If you’re looking for a quick picnic, grab some goodies from the deli and a chilled bottle of your favorite wine or beer and be right back out the door!
