Their coffee is weak, their sandwiches are lacking. The quiche is good. The employees show no sense of urgency when its busy; very inefficient.

I went in today to get a couple bagels and there was two people working. Like normal. The guy with long hair is always awesome and I don’t know why he isn’t running this place. There was a girl with short hair pixie like. She was so rude to me. Didn’t look at me. Didn’t say thank you. Didn’t hand me a pen to sign my receipt. All around rude. Other than that. Love the guy with long hair.

I work next door at Alorica, with a 30 min lunch i appreciate Rocket Backery because they are right next to us. For the last month I have ate here just about every day. Today a couple of coworkers decided to bring their lunch but i purchased a bagel and we sat down to eat like we normally do. Today one of the workers decided this was not ok(even though we have done this numerous times) We were told we cant use their facility if we didn’t purchase anything from them. Even though we have spent $ 40/week atleast with this bakery.

To be honest, I think the main reason this place is so successful is because of the 400+ employees residing in the same building who just want something close, quick and cheap to eat during breaks and lunch. The staff are usually friendly and young 20 something years old, which in turn either means they have good customer skills or(when I usually visited) not-so-stellar interactions. Maybe the staff are overworked? Maybe the staff I always see just have less than decent lives? I’m not sure, but whenever I went the staff most of the time simply seemed like they just did not want to be there and were just one customer short of destroying the display case with a stale scone. Speaking of the stale scone… The baked goods taste«old» and just like any baked goods you can find in any grocery store. There’s nothing spectacular about them. If you order a bagel with cream cheese I hope you like cream cheese because the amount they spread on the poor thing appears to be about the same as half a package that you can buy at a store. It’s a lot. Too much. So when ordering you have to be sure to mention to go easy on the cheese otherwise you’re going to get death-by-dairy. There is nothing spectacular or note-worthy about the coffee there either. It’s not good, and it’s not bad either. It will wake you up but you’re not going to be enjoying the experience drinking it really.

Good little coffee shop. Food was average but overall I’d go back. The architecture was cool and the staff was very helpful as well.

The rocket bakery is… weird. Ok? I don’t like it a lot. There’s a certain point where signs, notices, and policies become overwhelming and the Rocket, at least at this location, pushes it. There’s a notice saying they charge for forks, knives, and napkins unless you purchase something. The wi-fi seems to be for paying customers only, and I don’t get the vibe that I can stay there for an extended period of time. It stinks because this place is close to my work and I’d like to come down for the change of atmosphere, but there’s nothing pushing me to come here over Atticus or even… gulp… Starbucks. Hopefully they can do something about it. I know it’s in an area where there’s a lot of loitering and maybe that’s the feeling I’m getting but dag. Coulda been gooder.

My favorite café in Spokane! OK I don’t live in Spokane so I’ve only been to a few, but I love the atmosphere and location of this Rocket Bakery. They have very good food and an excellent atmosphere for hanging out solo or meeting a friend. Best of all… they have an old piano that the baristas don’t mind if you just sit down and jam on.

I ordered a hot chocolate and a chocolate filled croissant and both were pretty disappointing. The hot chocolate was really just steamed milk with a slight chocolate flavor. The croissant was slightly stale and doughy, not light and fluffy like a croissant should be. Service was okay. I love the book shelf and the ambiance. I’m hoping today was just a fluke, i’d love to come back and have a better experience.

3.7512 oz. Cap after tax and 1.50 parking for 1.22 hrs later… The Coffee: It’s a rare occasion when i’m in a coffee house and i don’t get cappuccino as my preferred drink. I love the taste of a good cap and i think it gives me some authority to critique a places cappuccino. Unfortunately this one was too milky for me(weak), the barista assumed to give me a 12 oz. I always go for an 8oz, more on that later. Also, I appreciate a receipt, most other places if they don’t give you a physical copy, then I’ve usually gotten an emailed one. I had I ask for mine here. 3 stars. Side note: they have baked goods, soups, & sandwiches to purchase. Location: It’s a bit of a double-edged sword. What i mean is the building itself(architecture), and inside(it’s atmosphere and décor) are cool and welcoming, but where it is located is not very elegant. It’s not an area of downtown that i imagine people being thrilled to be walking up and down on. 3 stars. Parking: I hate this! unfortunately you have to pay for parking unless its a Sunday. I paid about 1.50 for 1 hour and 22 minutes worth of time. With the cost of the cappuccino after tax this has been a 4.87 trip to coffee. 1 star. The 12 oz cap story… i came in to rocket first to ask for a dollars worth of change to pay for parking and i promised the gal i’d be back. Told her i’m in the area to spend time here and drink a cappuccino. So as i paid my meter she whipped up my cappuccino and it was ready as soon as i stepped back in! sweet huh? partially, like i said earlier she assumed to make me a 12oz. The barista did not ask me(she could have waited) what size i wanted. In the end i rate them a strong 3. A 3 not just because of their cappuccino or just because of the baristas assumptions or just because of their location, but combined, it is quite an average experience. On Unilocal i have never said«i don’t recommend this place» until now… UNLESS you just happen to be passing by, why not, go for it. But to make a trip out here? No. I’ve done that for you. It’s not worth it. Your mission(Rocket bakery) if you choose to accept it, is to find out how to make this place a 5 star coffee/bakery business!

Great good service and coffee! Driving through on a move from Chicago to seattle and grabbed breakfast and coffee here before finishing the last leg of our drive. Didn’t know what to expect but walked into a cozy, friendly, book filled coffee shop with the nicest people working here and absolutely delicious coffee and food. My boyfriend got the lox and bagel and just kept saying«this is so good!» And I got the spinach feta quiche and kept saying the same. The walls are covered with cool local art, just adding to the great quirky cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend this place for great, simple food and delicious coffee.

I used to come here every morning before work, along with the occasional Saturday. The speed of the employees has progressively slowed down. Multitasking is key in the service business, and the last two Saturday’s I’ve had to wait 15 minutes for a toasted bagel that isn’t even toasted, with no line slowing them down. It will be awhile before I visit this location again, as delicious as it is, it isn’t worth making me almost late for appointments.

Love it here! We are new in town and with all the coffee shops in Spokane we found one that feels like home :) I always use Unilocal for a few years now but this my first review… Coffee and food is great. Staff are really nice and cool. great décor.

Staff is usually very friendly 20somethings. There is a big book case in the back with books to borrow and games to play. The coffee and pastries are great too!

Blink and you will miss this place. I met a friend here for some coffee and grub. I ordered a small white mocha while I waited. It was pretty strong and tasted faintly of white mocha. I still can’t figure out if that’s just how it is and I’ve been drinking crap coffee my entire life or what. After my friend found parking we both ordered a little food. I got the oven roasted tomato Swiss quiche and some potatoes. My friend got a ham and Swiss croissant. Food was great. The place wasn’t busy at all so it was almost just us in there. The dining area is pretty big as well and has lots of seating. I will have to come back and try their pastries. And maybe some more coffee.

Rocket Bakery is a great spot to enjoy lunch and a great cold brew. They have a great staff at this location. Had I written this review a year ago I would have only mentioned the convience of the location. now I visit rocket almost daily for their cold brew.

Great chow for a café, and reasonably priced. The bagels are top notch, and I say this as someone who had bagels at a Jewish deli every day for 15 years in San Francisco.(They’re baked, not boiled, but that would be nit-picking…) I drink coffee black and it’s consistently rich and not bitter. Pretty impressive, actually. What’s more, it’s a comfy spot to kill some time between business appointments. These folks do a nice job.
