A girl I asked out suggested we eat at this joint, which as it turns out was the only valuable piece of information I would take away from our encounter. She might be the world’s most boring schizophrenic, but I let her order for the both of us and she worked that menu like Chopin in a Piano Shop. From the appetizers to dessert my taste buds were exploding like a young Ron Jeremy on a Coke binge at a Daytona Beach Spring Break. After dinner, I had to listen to this beleaguered spazz yammer on for 45 minutes about why Diet Coke is worse than regular Coke as she drank a Diet Coke because it had less calories, while I drove her silly ass back to the dark side of the moon, then I didn’t even get a tug or nothin. 4 Stars. Still.

We enjoy eating the buffet at Taste of India from time to time. :) The butter chicken/tikki masala, curries and fresh naan breads never disappoint. Wish they had saag paneer as a regular buffet option as it is my favorite but you can’t complain – $ 10.99 for all you can eat lunch comfort food heaven. Also recommend the mango lassi when available as it really brings out the flavors in the food. Yummy :)

i ordered the samosa chaat with lamb. i’ve never ordered something other than curry at indian places so i can’t compare it to anything. i put all of the onion + tomato and mint chutney, both spicy, on along with some of the sweet tamarind chutney. the ground lamb is minimal in this dish. the food was delicious and came out in about 5 minutes as there were just three other tables already dining. the lighting is dim which makes for a nice ambience but it’s casual, as is the façade and location. server and owner were friendly and prompt. compared to the wide variety of yummy indian places in seattle, this place is a bit more expensive. the plates that came out were a bit dirty, with one being especially old.

Ordered the saag paneer, butter paneer, and some veggie samosas. The sauces were great as usual, but the cheese had a weird crumbly texture unlike before, although the flavor was still good. It wasn’t very busy on a Saturday night and It was no problem getting a table. Seemed like the prices went up? 40 $ for dinner. Next time ill stick with the buffet, its $ 10.99 but not offered at dinner. I haven’t been here in a couple years so I wanted to re-visit.

After frequenting other Indian restaurants in the area, my sister and I decided to try this place before Thanksgiving. We really wanted to try the buffet because it looked a lot better than the other buffets at the restaurants we had been going to. The food itself tasted fine. I think some of it was a little off on temperature-some was slightly too warm and almost baking on the dishes and some was a little cooler than would be expected for a buffet(which is what I’m sure led to what happened next). Within 24 hours of coming here, I became extremely ill. I know what food poisoning is, how you get it, how long it incubates before symptoms, etc. This was food poisoning. And considering this was the only place I ate at where I did not make my own food and because the food on the buffet was cooler than expected… I’m sure it was from here. Now, we ate here right after the big windstorm and they had just gotten power back, so I somewhat blame myself for such a poor choice. However, it is the restaurant’s job to make sure their food is safe and that the buffet isn’t going to make someone extremely ill. EDIT: I also feel I should say the vegetarian dishes did not make my sister sick(she doesn’t eat meat), so it had to be one of the meat dishes that did this.

Nice spot for dinner with a view of the city. Also if you’re looking for original Indian food this is your place

This is the most authentic tasting Indian food in the area. I have tried many different dishes over the years and am never disappointed. The food is consistent and the prices are reasonable. I usually prefer ordering takeout, but I occasionally dine-in and have received friendly and efficient service every time! I definitely recommend eating here.

This 20+ year old Indian dining spot maintains authenticity but lacks the true flavors of India. Service was good and atmosphere more audible for a casual lunch

Worst Indian I’ve had, I eat at many all over and this was bad. Lamb was tough, sauces not hot and had little flavor

Just leaving right now and before we came here my husband and I were a little worried after reading some reviews but we figured we would give it a try. So glad we did. It was amazing. I have grown up all over the world which of course means i have ate indian food all over. I have ate indian food all over North America and my husband and i would have to say that this place is our favorite. The sauces are NOT watered down at all. The food exceeded my expectations by far! The service is awesome. I have no complaints. The atmosphere was also top notch. For those who had a bad experience. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I know shit happens and buffets aren’t always so great… But I give them 5 stars. We will be back for sure!!! Thank you!

Service non existent. No food on the buffet? Come on, really? Several of the customers are practically begging for the food! Someone just tried to politely ask the kitchen and the door was closed in his face. This is unbelievable. We have been here 20 minutes there still is no chicken! I am giving them a one star because what little food is available tastes pretty good.

Was brought here by a coworker. A little hole in the wall place. We hade the buffet. Very limited choices but not to shabby food. Not the cleanest establishment, but worth the try.

11 $ for the buffet for lunch, We stopped there before going to Spokane and I was delighted. They had a lot of different courses from chicken tikka masala to vegetable in curry or beans cooked in a sauce and naan bread. By my second plate I had tasted everything, most of it is really good, I recommend the chicken tikka masala, the vegatables and the rice with chicken which were my favorite. The chicken cooked in taandoor was a little bit disapointing to my taste as were the naan breads … So on my third plate I chose what I preffered. After 4 plates I was so full I wasn’t hungryy until the next day, you can’t leave this place hungry that’s for sure ! I’m a big fan of spicy food as indian food should be and I thought their meals were pretty mild, but that’s where the different chutneys come in, some are spicy and I recommend to put some on your plate if you like spicy. The mint and jalapeño chutney is particularly good. The food is good for a really reasonnable price(buffet) and you have as much as you want so go ahead.

Lunch buffet here is great: tasty and well-maintained. The server was friendly and polite. I’m from Portland, OR via New York. Yes, the food is mild, but many restaurants of various cuisines shy away from heat when serving to American customers unfamiliar with what spicy means in their culture. The reviews I read did not recognize that fact. I have eaten a lot of Indian food in my life(partially a result of having many Indian friends). I would definitely recommend this lunch buffet.

I was so disappointed. I’ve been coming here for the past ten years. Their past performance is deserving of five stars. Every time I go into Spokane I make it a point to stop here for dinner. They had redecorated and that was nice. In their defense I ate the lunch buffet which I should not have done. I took away a star for that. Indian buffets never have the selection I want and those heating trays are such a bummer. It’s just not my thing. People pick out all the goodies and at the end of the buffet what’s left in the tray is kinda yucky. The Tandoori chicken had become jerky.

Everything on the menu is great. They even let you order things that aren’t on the menu. We usually order Chana Korma(which isn’t on the menu) and it is absolutely delicious. Pair that with vegetable pakoras, tamarind sauce, jasmine rice and garlic naan and you have one our favorite meals in Spokane. A word about the staff: they are always very friendly and helpful. A word about the buffet: it is always well-stocked and super tasty. A word about this review: it is done now.

Servers name: Norma Atmosphere: Casual Price: $$ Service: Great Parking: Private Parking lot Other: Indian background music: Pandora Station The attached is a review on time, taste of Samosa, Lamb Goa Curry and Naan. 9:09pm: Seated and order taken 9:17pm: Samosa arrives with 3 sauces:(see attached pic) Dark: Tamarin chutney — Sweet Green: Mint chutney — Mild Spiciness Red: Tomato and onion chutney — Mild crunchy onion taste. A Samosa is a crispy pastry stuffed with lamb meat and peas –Samosa tastes better with the Tamarin chutney — which has a sweeter compliment. The Samosa is best eaten hot/warm. 9:26pm: Lamb Goa Curry and White Rice arrives. Lamb Goa Curry: Sweet and Spicy. Has a nice combination of curry sauce and coconut milk. Note: It by default comes at a mild — hot taste. If you are not a fan of hot spiced dishes — let them know. It is marinated well. On top of the dish is a layer of coconut shavings which adds a nice mild crunchiness to it. Rice: well cooked with a hint of a «fluffiness» like texture. 9:27pm: Garlic Naan bread arrives. The Naan bread is best dipped in curry sauce and Tamarin chutney.(My Naan bread was burnt tonight and wasn’t too happy about that :() 9:49pm: Done with food and checked out at the front counter :) Overall impression: I enjoyed tonight’s meal. The service was great and the time I spent here was reasonable. The taste of my main course was right on the money. I would in fact say it was d.e.a…licious. I’m not a fan of trying something new everytime, especially when I find a comfortable tasty dish. This has become that dish. The final question is — would I come back again? YES. I enjoy Indian food and these choices satisfied my craving tonight. However, this might be a once a month thing seeing that it cost me $ 26.70 tonight. eh — the things I do for Unilocal knowing that I came here tonight just to write a review. Ha. (Btw. I believe the buffet line at lunch time deserves a review of its own… its a different overall taste altogether and would score lower than what I had tonight… but until then…) Enjoy.

We arrived at Taste of India on a dark Saturday evening after a three-hour drive through the mountainous food desert of northern Idaho. My anxious stomach rumbled as it metabolized the last drops of the Frappucino I purchased two hours earlier from the $ 50,000 Silver Dollar Bar. Needless to say, I was famished. Then my girlfriend recommended Taste of India. «My mom tries to persuade them to open a location in Missoula every time she eats here,» she announced. «But they always decline.» I trusted my girlfriends’ mom’s palate. But I still had lingering doubts. From the bustling street, Taste of India resembled a pawn shop or bail bondsman. You know, the ubiquitous ones hugging the curbs of strip mall sprawl. My expectations were lower than a Diamondback’s belly in Death Valley. I come from a town with limited food options from the Indian subcontinent. So I must admit my masala palate is less discriminating than urbanite San Franciscans or Seattle-ites. My faithful dining partner and girlfriend Eva and I ordered the Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala with garlic and plain Naan. The pumpkin colored masala and green Paneer emerged promptly. I fell in love at first bite. The dreamy orange Chicken Tikka Masala warmed my insides and satisfied my cravings. The crispy Naan complemented the masala and Paneer nicely.
