Keep it simple. Sit down and enjoy. If all the beers choices too thirst boggling, ask Drue. Done. Your experience is under good supervision. Every time I try order anything other than the amazing burgers(minus the poly) I cave in to either the Big O, Jalapeño, or Cougar Gold. They should all have gold at the end of their title. Excuse me while I take another bite. .cough…cough. Sunday nights are good…

Went to lunch with my husband and father in law last Sunday, and found a HAIR in my salad-a looong, dark brown hair! Talk about ick factor! I almost lost the rest of my lunch, and was trying to decide if I should even eat it, and the waitress gave me a coupon for $ 5 off. $ 5. For a hair in my food. IMHO, the meal should have been free. That’s just unsanitary.

Steak was perfect. Penne Mac was awesome. Deep fried Oreo’s WTH that’s awesome! How often does the manager wait on your table and pick up dirty dishes. I joked with the waitress about it and she laughed and said, «happens all the time here!» Staff was great. Oh try the on tap bourbon, in a keg! WOW. Fish and chips perfect!

In April of 2015 I wrote a 5 Star review for this location. In the past 9 months, I have had two rather disappointing visits to this same location — and its left me wondering if the owners, or perhaps quality staff members, have changed. Both times(once in November and once in December), the food wasn’t up to the standard I expected from The Onion. On the most recent visit, I ordered the onion ring sampler appetizer, and was not impressed with any of the 3 varieties that came with it, they were all extremely greasy and overcooked. My dining partner and I were also unimpressed with our main courses, too. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which I have ordered here before, and my friend ordered a hamburger. I noticed that the portion sizes had been greatly reduced(honestly the tiny amount of pulled pork on the huge bun they served was comical!) But of course the prices only go up, not down. I also noticed that the BBQ sauce on the pulled pork was extremely sweet. It tasted like they had dumped sugar into it — and I couldn’t eat it. To make matters worse, our server wasn’t interested in visiting our table to check on us, so I couldn’t wash down the taste of sugary sweet pork. Later, we noticed our server was sitting at another table with some other customers showing them photos on her cell phone. We had to get up from the table in order to ask for someone to get our check, and it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Several times, family or friends have suggested we go to The Onion for gatherings. Each time since these experiences, I have told them that the quality of food has gone down and we have chosen to go elsewhere. I am saddened about this, because I really did love the food and atmosphere at this location. Maybe someday I will be able to revise this review again and give it the 5-stars it used to deserve.

I ordered the halibut fish & chips to go. It was delicious. I was surprised honestly, I can’t seem to find many restaurants here that I really like. Being from the south it’s been hard to adjust to the food options here in Spokane… Lots of things I’m not used to & the stuff I’am… Well, let’s just say people here don’t know what FLAVOR is, everything is sooo bland & in some cases just not cooked well. Anyway, the fish was cooked to PERFECTION in nice large pieces & if you like tartar sauces ask for extra they’re that big & it’s pretty good too. Cabbage slaw was nice & fresh, didn’t have that weird aftertaste some slaw has. Fries were seasoned just right. Service was quick & friendly. Definitely will be back to try something else.

Service was great, complimentary and accommodating.. The food.. . You don’t get what you pay for and get charged dime a dozen for changes or simple requests. Ex, my two boys shared a kids meal, charged for it, I wanted tarter, charged, my husband wanted extra cheese, the only thing that should be charged. The taste of the food was okay, wish it was not as greasy(runny) and the boys had a hard time eating their dinner and they are not picky. Our bill was pretty high for not having the wow factor at the end of the meal.

Went with a group of friends the other night because of their beer selection, which is nothing short of overwhelming. haha! We waited 45 minutes for our food, with the excuse being that there was a large party that ordered right before us. I get it, but still. My steak was way overcooked(ordered it medium rare, it came out medium well in the middle and very well done on the ends), the server mixed up the orders of two other people in our party, and the food was nothing to write home about in general from what I experienced. My steak was dry and had almost no seasoning(and I wasn’t offered steak sauce or anything to compensate for that haha!), and my potatoes were not seasoned, either. My husband, who will eat almost anything, ate about half of his sandwich and said it was a weird flavor combination and did not finish it. One pet peeve of mine in restaurants is when the whole table’s food is not all brought out together, or at least in rapid succession. The server brought out 3⁄5 of the meals… and a few minutes later, one more followed, and the last meal came about 5 minutes later, and was not particularly hot, so it is not like it was still cooking or anything. grrrr. Our server was at our table every 10 minutes or so until the food came out, and then she was nowhere to be found until she dropped the checks off, not even coming back to see if everything was ok. Overall, it didn’t make anyone sick as far as I know, and the prices were ok. Would I eat here again, based on this experience? No. There are far too many other options in the area to deal with that kind of service twice.

I liked this place a lot. Our server was good, efficient, and had a good personality!(I forgot her name though) I ordered the Salmon and it came with green beans and garlic toast, and I got the baked potato for my side. The salmon was a little over cooked for my liking but it was still good and the rest of the meal was delicious. I tried some of my friend’s onion soup(because that’s what they’re known for obviously) and it was great! Chill atmosphere, good beers

Our first impression of Area 51 Tap room at the Onion was… Fantastic! We were greeted by three very nice people who were quick and knowledgeable. It was Alaskan Brewery Co. night and what lucky night to be here. I have always enjoyed their brew, but tonight I had the Smokey Porter, okay maybe two. Wow… one of the smoothest Porter beers I’ve ever had. A representative from Alaskan came by with samples, then another with free bottle opener, a sticker, and every beer came with a free glass. SCORE! Now for the food. Pork taco were good but somewhat average, my Kobe beef hamburger was expensively disappointing. It tasted good but too small for the price. I will definitely go back but only for the beer and because every staff member we encountered was awesome, maybe I will try the onion rings.

Great place, great food, one of the best beer selections I’ve seen in awhile. When you get here, check out the bar area and ask DRUE, he’ll be either working the bar or waiter’ in the area. He’s awesome and knows his beer.

WOW!!! I was not expecting this when I decided to go to the Onion, but I am so glad I did. I ordered the Monte Cristo«county fair style» and it was amazing. The raspberry sauce sets this sandwich off! The interior had a cool brass and wood smoking room vibe that was very relaxing. This definitely a place I visit again when I’m on Spokane.

Nice place up on Division. Been here twice now. We made a huge mistake and tried the signature fried onion rings. They are terrible! I mean really bad! I am sorry but these are not even close to good fried onion rings. We honestly could not even finish them. Chewy, bad batter, over cooked, pricey, hard to even swallow, etc. I would Avoid! Now to the Burgers! Great. Really enjoyed them and also had a very good club sandwich to boot! Flatbread, yummy! I really like the upgraded Area 51 bar! Decent place to watch game with great beer selections. Prices bit high, bit decent. Cozy in the bar! Our service was slow both times but nice guys, just not enough help on the nights we went! Will go back to watch a game or two here for sure!

Omg the sandwich and pea salad I got from here were soo yummy. The only thing I would complain about was the slow service :( The waitress was super sweet & friendly but my food took like 30 minutes to get to my table and there was only two other people in the whole place(it was like 11am)… other than that though, I’d definitely try this place again. The décor was super nice and like I said I enjoyed my food very much. I’d recommend this place for lunch because I can’t comment on the dinner as I haven’t tried it yet. I had a turkey bacon sandwich on rye. Yum Yum!

In town for Hoopfest. This place was much nicer inside than one would expect. The tap house side: Area 51 is well done. Edison bulb chandeliers and industrial touches. The food was good, hearty bar food. Particularly the ½ Sicilian flatbread and ½ salad was filling and worth the order. The steak sandwich comes with a pepper gravy that is deeeelish. If we are ever on this side of Spokane ever again, we will likely stop by for drinks and apps with friends.

Had an Incredible time! The North Division location is notability, but specifically different. There is a wonderful & familiar energy, and the food is incredible. I had a «State of the Onion,» burger, which was amazing. They also have a promotion for their awards-winning onion rings, which we got. SO. MUCH. TASTY.

First off let me just say Stacie our server from last night 5−12−15 was amazing from San Francisco to spokane last night we got the best service I had ever experienced from a restaurant. She was friendly, patient, and our food was hot our drinks were never empty and she was right there if we needed anything. The hostess was friendly and extremely efficient(sorry I for got her name :/) all and all they made this one of the best stops on our honeymoon. Now the food. The Onion is on point I would have easily payed $ 25+ for that burger there BBQ pulled pork was so tender it was like a meat sauce for the beef pattie. The bacon rounded out the barnyard trifecta perfectly the onion straws gave it a crunch that completely changed the dynamic. Not to mention the chilli mayonnaise that brought the heat but not overpowering. Then to top it off we got the deep fried oreos for desert. And they were the best fried oreos I have ever had(and I’m a fat guy who loves food) I highly recommend this place. Oh and just an f.y.i I didn’t believe my wife when she told me but here in Spokane they ask you if you want tartar sauce everywhere lol

The bottom line: It’s expensive, and you don’t get much for the price. If the portions were larger and the prices a little more reasonable, this could easily be a 4 or 5 star because I had the Smoked Salmon Fettuccine and it was super delicious. They also have a great beer selection, and a big menu with a variety of items.

Haven’t been here for some time now since we moved to the valley. Sure not like it use to be that’s for sure. When most of the tables are empty during dinner rush on a weekend, this should tell you something. Onion rings were to die for, service was quick and friendly. One beer two ice tea’s 6 onion rings 2-six layer dips 1 hamburger and a bill for $ 68.50 plus a 10.00 tip holy crop a 80 dollar night for the 3 of us. Won’t take long for this place go under with prices like that. You can sheer a sheep many times but skin it only once.

Servers name: Emily Atmosphere: Casual Price: Decent($ 11-$ 35) Service: Welcoming, Polite and Respectful Parking: Huge free parking lot. Okay. So, The Onion was the 2nd restaurant i visited moving to Spokane for the first time in 2013. I actually really like this place and the vibe in it. Here are some thoughts: Lets start with the outside: Driving up/down Division — you will notice a large LED sign. The Onion are always posting updates and specials on their sign outside. It’s hard to miss with that big Onion logo on top of the sign. Then there is the parking lot — I am pretty sure you won’t have a problem with finding parking here. Walking in: There are 2 sets of doors when entering. In between the doors is a 7ft spoace(Don’t quote me on that) — to the right of the space are weekly specials for the bar. If that’s your taste that take a pic to keep it stored in your phone. Now, pass the second door — you will be greeted. here ts the cool thing about the waiting area — to the left of the greeters is a play area for kids — what? yes. It is pretty cool. Well to the left of that is the… well…washrooms. Hey! The washrooms are kept clean and there is even a couch/bench in the washroom. Not sure what you would use it for but maybe the stats said it was needed. Getting served: The are sections for booths and tables. The servers are polite and the service with food is great. I absolutely love their chesse sticks. It’s so fresh and thicker than ones I find at, well… Dennys or IHOP. Main Dishes: I love their burgers but my favorite sandwich is the«Philly Cheese Steak». Oh — I can taste it right now just thinking about it. Deserts: We had crème brûlée and the service size was generous. I haven’t had a dish that sweet and rich in for… honestly — 2 days. But their specialty is «DEEPFRIEDOREOS» — yes that sounds weird and yet interesting. i love it… but it’s a taste to get used to. Overall impression: Good time — reminds me of other fun places like Bubba Gumps. Hope you enjoy your time here. I do and so does the friends I bring here.

After a short wait(long enough to check in on Unilocal), I was seated promptly near a motorcycle, which I planned to ride after my meal. I did look into Area 51, but it was too mysterious for me. With several potential options on the extensive menu, the waitress had to come back to give me enough time to decide. I don’t usually order mac and cheese, too many Kraft dinners while I was in college, but their Epicurean mac and cheese made with Brie cheese sounded yummy. Tempting, but not. Fall Harvest Salad from the«fresh menu» in January? Skeptical, but the baby kale, which I’m sure I read somewhere is healthy, sold me. After the waitress described the two sizes, I opted for the full size, which if shared or if starving is perfect. Apparently, I was starving because I didn’t share. Fall Harvest Salad also featured crumbled bleu cheese, candied cranberries and apples(I think the apples were described as apple compote). Whatev. It was delicious. No room left for dessert, and I’ll have to save that ride on the motorcycle for the next time I’m here.
