Myself I had the Dolma for app and gyro platter for main dish. Oddly I did see the Gyro sandwhich on the menu. But did not see the Gyro plate until I asked and the waitress said they do have that. So perfect. The Dolma were perfect. Not too minty, just a really fresh appetizer. The Gyro was great. Laid a very large portion over rice. For $ 9.95 at dinner I think this was a great value. Placed some salad on the side and had some bread with an olive oil sauce. The Gyro meat was a bit crispy on the edges. Next time I would ask for just shy of crispy edges. G/F had the falaffel(Sp) and Gryo platter. Falaffel was really good. They had 2 large parties enter the eatery while we were finishing up. I can understand some peoples review about not having enough waitresses. I would not call it attentive service, but it is not unbearable. I would rather have a quality ethnic eatery in my area. Sometimes at a mom and pop shop you don’t have the income to overstaff to make sure everyone gets a new coke every 2 minutes. Overall I recommend this place. Could easily seeing stopping in couple times a month to see what the other offerings are. It is just next door to a muslim grocery store. So that might be something to look at next time.

I’ve gave this place my money twice now and I know for sure I won’t come back a third time. First time I came I got the gyro sandwich and it was loaded with vegetables, cucumbers, white yogurt sauce with two slivers of gyro meat. Very underwhelming. And the second time I go their beef kabob with rice and Greek salad on the side and I couldn’t even finish it. It wasn’t because it was a lot of food but the beef had a rotten taste to eat and was slimy. Sorry two strikes and your out.

Ok, so don’t get me wrong, the food is actually really good. Would love to give this place more stars, but each time I come back I have the same experience every time. 1) The service is horrible. There is usually one lady working who does everything. I came in last night with my husband and it took 15 minutes to get our drinks and it would have taken longer if we didn’t flag her down. When she came back with the drinks she said she was waiting for our bread to finish cooking so she could bring our drinks at the same time and only make one trip… um really? Just dying of thirst over here, no big deal. Also, expect the same speed of service when trying to get a box for your food and the check. slow as hell. 2) The bathrooms are super gross. Could have taken photos, but no one wants to see that. not to mention the fact that they have a super low power hand dryer(and a large roll of toilet paper at the sink) to dry your hands. Gross. It’s sad because I do really love the food here, but unless you like terrible service and waiting around forever, just get it to go!

Look, I’ll keep it real and cut to the chase. I don’t usually care much for Mediterranean food. But I DO like kabobs. I have been here twice so far. Both times at off hours so they weren’t busy. Not very fast. But pleasant enough. I had the chicken kabob AND the beef kabob. Both with basmati rice and a salad. The chicken and beef were BOTH good. The beef was even more tender than I expected it to be. Very well seasoned. The chicken was good. Plenty of rice. I have ONLY had the chicken and beef kabobs and both were worth my coming back for a second time. I hope that helps.

I was sitting there for dinner, the meet portion was nice and taste good but not great. Salads didn’t taste fresh, there was like some over sour taste than it had to. Pita bread was nice.

Great food that is if you order the right stuff, I ordered the beef Kabob and Persian rice which was perfect But as far as the shawarma is concerned it is merely a chicken boneless piece wrapped in a naan, no sauce and so dry that it was hard to swallow. But good and courteous service, very hospitable nice dining as well.

The food here is good, but the service is slow. I got there about 6pm, the rest was pretty much empty(only two tables with people) but it took about 10min for someone to show up and sit us. First and second impressions were not good, as there was still a lot of left over food on 2 – 3 tables from previous patrons. I will give this place another chance, because I liked the food. Hope by then the overall experience will be better.

We finally jumped on the Groupon bandwagon for this place and it was pretty good overall. The interior is very nice and the staff is quite friendly. Food: We got the mixed platter with the chunks. Chicken was very good and the beef was OK. Hummus was great. Bread was fresh. The lentil soup was very good. There are just so many options in Houston and up north that it is tough to stand out. Their biggest plus is that they have a party hall that you can rent out.

Judging by the wildly mixed reviews so far and my own experience, it looks like this place has consistency issues. I got the Combo #2 plate, which is chicken + beef + beef kafta kabab, with basmati rice, greek salad, and two large halves of pita. Out of 3 pieces of chicken, 2 were way too dry and bland. The one piece that did have a bit o juice wasn’t bad but still wasn’t that great. Both pieces of beef kabab were also dry and overcooked as well, but were spiced well enough that I liked it a lot better than the chicken. The best was by far the beef kafta, which are pretty much just meatballs(way better than American meatballs). Very tender and juicy unlike the beef/chicken, and I wish I’d just gotten an entire plate or sandwich with this. The others: Greek salad — bad, but how good could Greek salad be anyway?! Rice — average, possibly a bit old Pita — tasted like they took it out of a refrigerator and microwaved it. too hard, bland tasting. I made it way better by heating it on a skillet(med/high heat no oil, 45 – 60 sec per side). ended up being slightly better than store bought.

Tried the hummus, totally agree with other reviews, smooth, spicy and delish. Combo 1– moist chicken, a plus since it’s usually a bit dry. Get the weekend special of spicy lamb, you won’t regret it.

The only things saving them from a one star rating are the hummus and pita bread, Caesar salad, and the fact they brought us out something else to try when the kabobs were bad. Only one waiter, service took two forevers, waiter forgot to bring out the hummus, Dr Pepper, and glass of water. Could tell there was confusion between kitchen and waiter because they couldn’t figure out what orders went to what tables. Some food sat on the counter for a good while and waiter delivered our food to the wrong table. Had to walk up to front counter to pay bill because they didn’t bring it to us. Staff was friendly though when we could get service

Their food and service was okay. I ordered the ground chicken kebab. We experienced slow service-there was 1 server. They forgot our pita bread and feta cheese for the salad. Then the feta cheese was moldy.

Stay away from this place. Very slow service. Very rude. Charged my credit card 100 dollars more when I checked my bank statement. Was not able to smoke the hookah inside. We had to sit out in the sun and the heat to smoke some hookah. They had very limited floors in their menu too.

It is one of those places that is so good that you can’t stop thinking about it. We will be back again and again. Best falafel and hummus!

My husband and I recently had a date here and had a lovely time, even though the A/C was out. They compensated with large fans and the place was still packed, so we figured that it must be worth trying. The place was fairly clean and decorated nicely. I couldn’t try any of the juices because of whatever issue they were having that day, and settled for water. The hummus was the most delicious hummus I’ve ever had! There were also red and green sauces to mix within it to make it spicy and they both had great flavor. The green one is slightly spicier. The«bread» was fresh and cooked perfectly. I had the lamb gyro and I mixed the green spicy sauce with whatever sauce they serve with a gyro. That was the best! My husband had a plate of some sort and reported that the rice wasn’t cooked well.(I noticed that other tables left the majority of their rice, as well.) It was all reasonably priced and is definitely come back again. Hopefully the air will be working and I’ll be able to really get a feel for what this place is like.

Cool place for Mediterranean food! Closest thing to authentic Mediterranean food on this side of Houston. Not the highest quality of food but it can suffice till another restaurant of its type comes along It’s very close to 249 and the Lonestar University campus. They have vegetarian options but not too many vegan options though.

The food was delicious! Beef and chicken kebab was very tasty. Hummus and Falafel are yummy too. The place is busy but not super loud. Wait staff is very nice and checks on you periodically. The décor is beautiful and they keep the restaurant nice and cool. I’d definitely come back!

I don’t understand all the great reviews about this restaurant. Obviously other Unilocalers haven’t visited Kasra in Houston for the real deal. I just thought it was your average Persian food. I ordered the hummus, beef kafta kabob and sampled some of the beef shish kabob and actually liked the kafta better, since it had more flavor and wasn’t overcooked or chewy. The rice was alright, but not as good as other places I’m used to, where they give you a side of butter. I was hoping for a plate of garnish with mint and feta cheese cubes too, to go along with the entrees, but they don’t serve that here apparently. The hummus was not that great, and the bread that is served with it was piping hot at least, but not what I’d call addicting by any means. Prices are good though, with the lunch type items around $ 6 – 7 and dinner entrees from $ 9 – 14.

Updated 12÷31÷15 Tried the manager’s special for $ 8.95 and was blown away. So much food. I let them decide what to serve me as it all looked good. I did specify beef, do the platter came with a side of fajita-style meat and also ½ hot, fresh naan bread. Someone mentioned still having to pay with their Groupon, but I asked and they honored mine. I did have an extra charge because we ordered some bottled lassi, but still a great value with or without a Groupon. Raising my original review from 3 stars to 4 stars. ##(original review below) This place is in a hidden part of Louetta, but worth the trek. The dining room is clean and relaxed. If the weather is nice try the patio, but beware of smokers… Can’t go wrong with a platter of bread and hummus(with olives on the platter), but you might want to skip it as the dinner and lunch portions here are really huge. Try the gyro or platter with rice and salad. Anything here is good including the baklava(kinda pricey), and the waitstaff is friendly and not annoying. Found this place using a Groupon, but have been back several times since. It is not in my immediate vicinity, so that must be saying something, right?
