This place is a hidden gem. It certainly doesn’t look it from the outside, but the folks inside are friendly, and the food is great! Oh, and on your way out, grab a dozen farm fresh eggs! We’ll definitely be back!

From walking in the door, it doesn’t look like much but don’t let that fool you. The lunch special today was pork chop. It was ready is minutes along with my 3 sides. For $ 7.95, you get the lunch special, a salad and a roll. The atmosphere was homey and quiet, the food delicious! I would definitely go here again! Top notch!

First time here, absolutely loved it. Passed it countless times over the years but never stopped in… so glad I did! Today was a sensible portion of chicken fried steak with 3 sides, a small side salad, and a roll. All for 8.00. The potatoes were 100% home made, gravy was good, green beans and brussel sprouts were very flavorful, and the coating and steak were excellent. Perfect amounts of everything. All I can say is dont be afraid to go in for lunch or dinner im sure (check hours) you wont be sorry. If the special isnt your thing– they do offer things like burgers, bbq and pulled pork sandwiches, chicken strips… a good selection… all good prices. Tomorrow is fried fish or meatloaf, im goin back again! The two ladies working there were very friendly too.

After being turned away from a bar (On the Rocks) because their kitchen was closed I got on Unilocal to see where we should eat. Saw a review about Thursday night steak night. It’s crazy how just 5 to 10 mins from 1960 how rural this area is. At first we were worried about the place because of the outside… And inside. But this place/​people/​food were the top notch.
We found our new Thursday night spot.

I can not believe how much I love this place! I’ve only had their lunch menu, but I am completely addicted to this country-​homestyle-​cooking. It reminds me of going out to my grandmother’s in East Texas and she’d fix the most heart warming meals that you could smell from the backyard.
Last week (Friday) I had their fried catfish with beans and cabbage on the side. Homemade tartar sauce, freshly made cabbage with a bit of sugar and lots of butter, catfish fried perfectly, not too greasy. I ate everything and even went back before their lunchtime ended and got a large side of cabbage to take home (I know cabbage is not for everyone, but I’m telling you, this cabbage was worth an extra trip!)
Today (Monday) I was hoping for the pork chops since I’ve heard they are miraculous. However, it was chicken fried chicken. No problem! Gravy on the side with homemade macaroni and cheese and cauliflower. Got it to go and holy cow was my mouth watering from the smells in my car!!! I get back to my office (about 6 minutes away) and there is a decent (not too huge) sized freshly fried piece of chicken, still crispy. I can tell it was hand breaded. OMG! So juicy and no fatty areas. Creamy, delightful macaroni and cheese, lightly buttered cauliflower.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) is pork chops. I can’t wait!!!
I do need to add that they have a different lunch entrée every day of the week (chicken fried chicken, catfish, meatloaf, pork chops, chicken fried steak, etc.) With the lunch special you get the entrée, three homemade sides, a salad, a hot roll and drink of your choice all for under $ 10. I’m sorry, but that’s incredible to me!
And the ladies working there — God bless them! They are super amazing.
All in all, I cannot think of anything I don’t like about Mittelstaedt’s. Yeah, it’s an old bar and it’s kind of down the way on Steubner, but so totally worth it!!!

Lunch specials are top notch, Thursday night Steak Night is the best around and drop in for a cold beer in the old school tavern next door that is a rare find. Free pool and shuffleboard. Juke box is loaded with golden oldies. Friendly staff and I assure you, you will drive a long ways before you find another family owned place like this. Come by and check it out! You’ll come back, again and again.

Wow. Wednesday lunch is homemade roast beef, homemade mashed potatoes, homemade green beans AND fresh cut carrots. The plate lunch comes with three sides and a salad and a roll for 7.99! It was the best roast beef I have ever eaten (sorry mom) The burgers looked great! Did I menetion it was all fresh and homemade? I had enough left over for dinner:) If you are looking for a fresh hoemmade meal, this is the place. I am trying the chicken friend steak next and the Thursday night steak and will let you know. (the bar is separate from the restaurant so it is family friendly)

Great buffet lunches… loved the food each time I have ate there! 5 stars for taste!

I have only been here for lunch with a few coworkers, needless to say that this place is absolutely top notch. The women there that cook these amazing home cooked meals remind me of my mothers cooking which is always the best. They grow their own vegetables and you can taste it. Their carrots are beyond epic, if I could buy them in a store I would.
I’ve been here on I believe a Tuesday and was definitely there on Thursday for Chicken Fried Steak day. OMG… When I thought their Tuesday lunch was good Thursday came a slapped my taste buds. Needless to say that this little place is amazing for it’s size. I was kind of reluctant to write a review on here because this is a small family owned business and it’s perfect that way. Last thing I want is this place turned into a corporate business.
