According to the online Houston Chronicle, the restaurant is temporarily closed due to a fire on 3÷29÷2015. «The restaurant at 103 Midway was found ablaze shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, according to Spring Fire Department Senior Capt. Dustin Creager. No one was in the building at the time of the fire, whose cause was unknown Sunday afternoon.»

This is an okay(just OK) place to grab a bite to eat, as it’s probably got one of the more diverse menus available in OTS. Atmosphere here is very good, and if you’re here with anyone from out of town(particularly out of state), this is a great place to meet. Service was attentive, although at times a bit hurried as our waitress was leaving her shift while we were still at our table and we seemed to be sort of hurried through our time here. She wasn’t rude, but rather just a bit, well, suggestive about finishing our order and paying our bill. Food was average. The fried zucchini I had was a huge order(way more than one person could eat); but to me the batter seemed to overwhelm the taste of the zucchini, which sort of defeats the purpose of the sweetness of the vegetable being fried. Ho hum. Margaritas were nothing to write home about. When my dining companion(who is from out of state) asked«What do you have for bourbon?» he was given a quizzical stare; I could see from my vantage point(and stated): «I see you’ve got Jack Daniels.» Our waitress shrugged her shoulders; at that point my dining companion opted for the margarita like me. Face it, if you don’t know Jack, we’re not ordering it! We had a pleasant visit here; the atmosphere is what was really delish. The food: not so much.

My son and I had lunch here. It has a great atmosphere and there were lots of family here. The server was very quick and helpful. It’s been a while since I’ve dined but I remember having a good experience. The food was ok but the service was overall very good. There were plenty of leftovers also. And some sort of veetable roll. Gosh, darnit, i have to go back now.

Good food in a nice family style environment. Their sweet tea wasn’t my favorite, but I’d recommend the chicken fried steak and squash. My husband had the sausage and onion rings which were also tasty! Bring your quarters for an old fashioned coke in a bottle.

Came with family and friends and we all orders the cheeseburgers because people said they were great. All of them were dry and tasted like a frozen meat patty. The only decent thing was the fries.

Every time I’m in Spring to visit my brother, we take the kids to Old Town. Love all of it, of course. But to end with a meal at Wunsche Brothers is becoming a tradition for is. It’s near the train tracks, which make it even more authentic. The inside is spacious, yet cozy. Typical old style wood with a stage area for live music and such. The food is hot and tasty. Chicken Fried Chicken hits the spot. Coke in a bottle. Pretty fab if you ask us.

Not only is the food delicious, as always, but the service was amazing. We stopped for lunch during a Saturday shopping trip to Old Town Spring, and the place was jammed. After a short wait, a table was ready for us. Our server was outstanding. Despite wall-to-wall people there, our order was taken quickly and our food was served promptly, hot and fresh. I’ve personally waited much longer for service in half-empty restaurants! No wonder Wunsche’s has been in business for so long… they know the formula for great food and excellent service. We’ll definitely be back.

This place is probably one of my favorite burger joints, not just because they do amazing cheeseburgers, but because of the nostalgia here. There is a great deal of history on this building which I won’t go into, but I have memories of going here as far back as 1984 when I was a just a boy. The upstairs area was open to the public and had some old arcade games for the kids to play. The upstairs is closed off now, but it was once a very small hotel, and my vague memories of the upstairs gave me a good idea of what the first hotels in America probably looked like. The menu is fairly limited, but that’s what makes it a great American dine in. The history and ambiance of the place is paired well with classic comfort food of the 20th century, not to mention some amazing beer bread. I don’t expect to order a filet mignon in a place like this. Just give me a burly burger in one of those plastic oval-shaped baskets with the checkered parchment paper, shining with grease, and let me dig in while I listen to the trains rumble by every ten to twenty minutes.

Cool historic place with good basic burgers and such. Great place to rest the feet while you stroll the cute little town. People are nice that survey you and prices are fair. I come here every time I go to old town.

We went back here a second time because they are supposed to have good burgers. We got seated right away, and then watched about 8 servers wander around aimlessly with a whopping 5 tables in the place. A guy finally comes over and mumbles something incoherent. When I told him I didn’t understand anything he said I got the look. Oh something to drink? Yes a beer. Our actual server came over with a bottle of beer. He started to take my order and I took a drink of beer, and the top of the bottle was broken. I say“this bottles broken” and push it over to him. He says«yea I don’t know what happened there.» And pushes it back at me. Me «you knew it was broken?» Yea I drink out of broken bottles all the time. We left. So much for the burger.

On a recent visit to Houston, my boyfriend and I made a side trip to Old Town Spring, about 45 minutes outside of the city. We stumbled across Wunsche Brothers Café and Saloon for lunch. There is so much nostalgia here; the website says it was originally opened in 1902 as a hotel and saloon. Wunsche Brothers is the epitome of great American comfort food. The menu isn’t extravagant, but sometimes I’m just looking for someone to focus on cooking me a good meal rather than some revolutionary dish with ten ingredients I have no clue what they are. I ordered a cheeseburger, and it was probably in the top cheeseburgers I’ve had, ranking higher than«gourmet» burgers I’ve eaten. Menu prices were extremely cheap than what I’m used to paying; I paid $ 6.99 for a half-pound burger with the usual fixings. Our servers were genuinely friendly, and it was one of the few times I felt compelled to tip more than I normally do. If I’m ever in the area, I’ll definitely be back!

A great place to stop and eat when in Old Town Spring. Burgers are tasty, beer is cold, and a warm thick slice of beer bread will make your day! I’m a sucker for the fried zucchini. Please, to avoid injury to the roof of your mouth, wait until they cool off! It’s hard, I know, but trust me do it! I am fan of their chicken fried chicken, sauerkraut balls, and pretty much anything fried. Today, however, I wanted something a little lighter. I opted for the chicken salad with fruit. There were big chunks of chicken breast just lightly dressed. I hate mushy chicken salad with too much mayonnaise. This was perfect. Service was perfect! My drink was constantly being refilled and at least three people asked me if everything tasted okay. I didn’t get a glimpse of the ghost upstairs, but this is still a great place with lots of nostalgia. Oh and the chocolate cake is divine!

I tried this place because it was so highly recommended by the Spring-Woodlands Foodie group. I was hugely disappointed. I got the bratwurst and sauerkraut and it was so bland. I can buy a package of brats and a can of sauerkraut and had the same thing at home for a fraction of the price. If I get a bratwurst Ina restaurant I expect so much more — like flavor, for example. My friend got a burger and it was dry. We both got fries and they were soggy and cold. I guess if this place holds some sentimental value for you, it might be fun to go here. Otherwise, I cannot recommend this place. I would go here if I was with a group who chose it and I was along for the ride. But I wouldn’t go here on my own. It’s just not worth it.

well first off they the staff was really attentive and they immediately recognize that your waiting for a table so they’re pretty good at seating you as soon as they can. The ambience is very casual and very countrified so if you ain’t from the south it might throw you off. Well the plates are very heaping healthy the other way, they helpfully screw your diet and make a cheat day count! They are what you save that day for sooooo worth it so don’t expect small portions. Again the food is very comforting and very filling and good after walking the shops. So keep up the consistency owners and cooks!!!

Nice place. It had a good rustic feel to it. Kind of stumbled on it as the place across the street was closed. I had the blacked cat fish. It was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Try the Beer Bread it is good.

Service: Good Parking: easy and within close walking distance Atmosphere: Open and festive with a country store type feel. Jessica L brought me here Monday night. I’m really glad she did. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE a great greasy burger. I actually have a secret place that I go for burgers in a popular spot in Houston. I request to be seated away from the windows so I can’t be spotted by people who know me as I’m destroying my burger. Yeah no table manners to be found when I’m there. Digression aside Wunsche’s has legit burgers. I don’t eat cheeseburgers because like I said, I only like cheese on pizzas and cheese plate form. I got the hamburger, beer bread, buttered corn, and shared fries with Jessica L. The burger was deliciously juicy and greasy and I totally beasted on it. The beer bread is different. It’s hearty and filling but really delicious. I would recommend it since I haven’t had it elsewhere. The corn was just buttered corn, I’ve never really had mind-boggling buttered corn(besides the corn in a cup at the rodeo). The fries actually really reminded me of the fries at Listos. They appear to be house cut and are really good. The restaurant itself definitely has a throwback feel and the staff members are very friendly. I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re north of the city and in the mood for a solid burger!
