Prices very high for a place where everything taste like it was once frozen. Was a pretty decent place years ago do happy hour. Service is hot or miss. Chips and salsa are the only reason this gets two stars. Really not a lot to say about this place, just not worth it.

Austin Grill is pretty good for the price. Problem is, the price is a bit too much. The salsa here is a big lackluster if you’re into that sort of thing. The beer queso is excellent though. Just be sure to have them skip the garnish. The best deal at 17 bucks is the all you can eat tacos(varies by location and day). Seems like a lot of coin, but the tacos are really good, just make sure you skip breakfast and lunch. A good place to come by an relax after work.

A blend of tex/mex w/ok flavor. We started w/queso. They bring chips & salsa to start. The chips don’t have any flavor so you def have to dip them into something. The queso tasted a bit different than what I’m used to. The reason why, it has a flavor of beer to it. I’m all for trying new flavors & foods, but it didn’t sit well on my pallet. I ordered the Roadhouse burrito which comes w/queso. It’s your typical burrito otherwise. My friend ordered the Bevo salad which comes w/chicken. Her salad was HUGE. My burrito was typical size. Nothing popped out at me flavor wise from the burrito. I was hungry so I finished it as did my friend. It’s a nice little spot w/ok food. Staff is friendly & very tentative.

This is one of our go-to restaurants for casual dining. The warm tortilla chips and delicious, house-made salsa are great, as well as the table-side guacamole. The best menu options are shrimp anything — fajitas, quesadillas, or tacos. The hosts are always sweet, friendly, and prompt. Ask for Flo as a server, or if you prefer to sit at the bar, Bailey is awesome! Management is always readily available to monitor quality and address any concerns.

The food is not good enough for the awful customer service and attitude we just had to endure. We live close so come here every now and then, the food is basic tex-mex, nothing special but not bad. Depending on the bartender, the margaritas(house) can be quite satisfying but tonight they taste like sour mix. They have 1 bartender working and 1 training, the 1 training is just standing around while the other is working hard. That’s not even the real issue, just led to it. So it took a WHILE for the one bartender to refill our margaritas so we politely asked the manager(because she happened to be the next employee to walk by) to get us a refill, she was rude and snappy in her response when I asked for tequila in the margaritas, again politely. For the next 5 minutes she stood at the end of the bar looking in our direction(arguably looking at us) with a very dissatisfied look. She was glaring at us. Another employee walked up to her and the manager proceeded to complain about us to this employee. How do I know? Her body language and the way she motioned towards us and after she ranted a bit the other employee looked dead at us. Mind you there are 4 other people at the bar, no one next to us, so it’s hard to argue that they were looking«passed us» The manager made us feel very uncomfortable, unwanted and disliked, all because we asked for refills(politely) as a manager that is literally the opposite of your job. If you’re going to vent, go where the customer can’t see you, not whilst glaring at them.

I keep going back and forth on this place. A few years ago everything was awful and we decided to stop coming. Gave it another shot after a while because the kids really like it. Quality and service has gotten much much better. Salads and guacamole are really good, and bar selection is good too. If you’re into tequilas this is a good alternative to having to go into the city for Oyamel. It’s close to home and, again, is much better than it was. Plus there’s a check in deal. :-)

Delicious margaritas and guacamole, highly recommend. See Bailey at the bar for an unforgettable margarita and Mariah for the best guacamole. Ask for the sweet guacamole its a game changer!

As I scrolled through Austin Grill’s Unilocal page I realized many people have the same exact thoughts as me, so I’ll keep it short. I’ve been coming here with my family since I was a kid and it was always great. My sister and I loved the kids meals, and as we got older the chicken fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, everything. Now, the quality and portion sizes are lower, the prices are way higher, and the service is always slow. I think most of the waiters are in high school. For $ 14 you get two midgety tacos and some rice and beans — yay? Tip: for the same price get the half rack of ribs instead. I think they’re trying to become a tequila bar but Springfield is really a family area. Food is more important than Austin Grill booze. At least the chips and salsa have stayed solid over the years.

I’ve been coming to this Austin Grill off and on for about 15 years. I’m writing about my last experience at Austin Grill. I feel the quality of service and food has declined every time I go there. It’s interesting how they have rebranded to a grill and tequila bar; they have a lot of tequila available for you to drink. My actual meal was not good. As with most Tex-Mex places, the chips and salsa were great. The chips were nice and warm and they brought both the red and verde salsa for the chips. I ordered the Spicy Beef Enchiladas. I was completely disappointed with those. They were the most bland enchiladas I have every had, let alone spicy. They had no taste to them as I ate it. The service was adequate. The server got our drinks in a timely manner, but did not check up on us throughout the meal. Hopefully they can get back to the quality of food and service I remember.

If I was writing this four or five years ago, I’d be giving a strong 4.5 stars — the place was a favorite Tex-Mex joint for my wife and me. If I was writing this 2 – 3 years ago, it would still be between 3 – 4 stars. Yet, here we are. Somehow, each time we’ve been there(a few times per year), the food’s gotten more bland, the menu is smaller and less interesting, and we come away less impressed than the time before. Preparation has taken a slight skid, and presentation is WAY off. The plate just doesn’t look like an appetizing arrangement of food, so much as «here’s how it looked coming out of the microwave.» I don’t know that they actually use one, but it seems that way. Service used to be super-friendly — and usually whoever’s working the front end as hostess is quite nice — but we no longer come away looking forward to the same server the next time. The service isn’t *bad*, and neither is the food. Nothing about the place instructs me to swear off ever going back. But with some very good competition in the area(plenty of Tex Mex available, not to mention more Peruvian in the area than I can count) it’s sad to see Austin Grill slipping into mediocrity. I hope the next owner or manager(or whoever’s responsible for running the place) gets the groove back.

Decided to stop in here to try the ribs & I was so happy I did as they were amazing. Often eating out for ribs is a gamble however these were the best ribs I’ve had in a long time. Super tender and very tasty, I got a side of bbq sauce that was deliciously spicey. Wifey the chicken Chula chulapa salad and we had the taquitos as an appetizer which were both very good! My sons burger was a bit overdone but other than that was a good experience.

We’re infrequent frequenters of Austin Grill. Dennis is our favorite bartender/waiter. It is our local Burke bar when I’m staying at my boyfriends place. Burke is starting to get more fun/ok spots to eat and hangout, but it is still a big burb. The best taco is the carnitas and pineapple taco. If you want quesadillas, ask for them with chicken. The taquitos are a great app and come with a jalapeño jelly dip. The wings are pretty good, spicy and crispy(most of the time), but the skin varies here which as you know can make or break a wings goodness. The guac is table side and toilet them know what you want in it and how much of it. For a fun twist, ask for it with pineapple. The sliders are pretty awesome. Take some of the table side guac and put it in your slider. The salsa is tasty too; throw some of that in there too. Fajitas aren’t really their thing. I wouldn’t recommend them. Remember this is Tex Mex, which is not Mexican food, but a blend of both worlds. Get your chips and salsa to start, share some of the apps I mentioned, get some carnitas tacos. You’ll be satisfied. They’ve got trivia on Monday nights. I haven’t been in quite a while, but it is actually entertaining and you can win a voucher for future visits. They’ve got lots of types of tequila, if you’re a tequila aficionado. The rest of the drinks are your standard bar drinks. Margs are pretty good, on the rocks. It’s more about a fun atmosphere in Burke to go and share some apps and drinks. If you’re coming here expecting an authentic Mexican meal or anything out of this world, I’ve given you realistic expectations.

We wanted a place close to the yard and to watch a little football. When I did is search Austin Grill popped up. To get the game day special you have to sit at the bar. Which was fine with us because we had a great view of the TV. The food was ok the service was better but the margaritas were the best. There’s over 100 different tequilas to help you loose your mind. This is a family restaurant and great for kids but not adults that are trying to catch up with friends, have a great brunch and want to enjoy themselves with a timely responsive staff for refills and ordering. The almost bottomless mimosas is 9 something with 25 cent refills but it’s hard to get even three during your time here as staff comes by once every 5ish to 10ish minutes and forgets even if you ask for a refill leaving your drinkless for upward 15ish to 20ish minutes. The food was decent, I didn’t care for the chips and salsa but that is a preference thing. I found the ambiance loud with children and staff talking to each other and it took away from my conversation with my friend that came to brunch with me. It’s an average family restaurant.

My family and I been coming here for over 10 years and it has changed drastically we started coming. FIRST let me start by saying, I have never had a bad server here. The service has always been wonderful. SECOND. That being said, the food has changed and is now bland and twice as expensive. Just ate the BBQ platter and was unimpressed to say the least. My dad ordered the chicken special which was red in the middle. RED. I don’t mess with raw chicken. It was severely under cooked. The meal consisted of Chicken on a bed of rice. Of which my dad ate none. The Manager on duty then informed us that he would take $ 10 off of his $ 15 meal. I was shocked. Terrible service via the manager. When we left, my husband hit the nail on the head. He said«Overall one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.» I would have to agree.

I like the new menu. I kind of wish the manager’s would leave us be. But, I understand why they do the walk-around. They have a Santa at Christmas that wS pretty great, but the weekly clown for the kids is… Meh. Some might consider her creepy, others might find her a nice distraction for the little ones. Sometimes their live music makes dinner table chatting impossible. Still worth a dinner now and then.

Ok, I need 3 things: 1 — Good taste 2 — Good price 3 — Good ambiance Austin Grill has pretty good taste, high prices, and no ambiance. Although I can take a lot of negatives in the price and ambiance realm for great taste, that’s not a fair trade at AG. If you need average TexMex in a pinch — hook it up.

Stopped by for happy hour and appetizers and was highly disappointed at the quality of food and orders forgotten. We arrived and ordered drink from the side bar. After 20 minutes and no drinks i checked with the waitress which had forgotten then brought the wrong drinks. Next we tried to order some appetizers(Tacos and empanadas). Food seemed reheated and dried out from a microwave. The location is great and even the name works but all is lost once you step in. Hope they can fix what ever is cursing this place.

I have lived down the street from this location for about 4 months, and passed it every day… The reviews weren’t stellar so I never bothered to try it. Eventually, one evening I was craving tacos and decided to make a trip to Austin Grill for as many as I could shove down my gullet. I went early, right after work(about 5 pm). I was seated quickly and before I knew it I had chips, salsa and a glass of water in front of me. Salty salsa, but very tasty! I ordered a Shiner Bock, which for only $ 2.50 on draft was amazing. So I was looking over the many taco choices and selected the avocado variant for my first course. They came out quickly and were very good. The avocado and pico de gallo were as fresh as could be. The«green rice» was good, and I even liked the black beans(I usually dislike them). Next I ordered a couple skirt steak tacos, which were the stars of my meal. Really, the steak was a juicy and tender medium-rare and they tasted as good as what I make at home! As part of the all-you-can-eat deal, beans, rice and accoutrements only come with your first plate. You get two at a time, which is good and bad… If you’re starving you can fill up quick but if you’re a sampler like me it can be a bit much to eat! My server had suggested I order the next round once each order arrived. I did so and they had them cranking out as fast as I could eat them! Awesome. So I got around to the Pollo Guisado which were very good, and lastly the spicy beef which were also tasty. If there was any gripe from me, it would be that the tiny bit of pico de gallo provided with the first pair of tacos did not last very long. I didn’t ask for more, but it wasn’t offered and I don’t know if I’d have to pay extra. TL;DR: Overall it was good, and while not inexpensive, a good value for the money. The AYCE tacos from Austin Grill are a frontrunner for my choice of last meal should I find myself on death row.

We really enjoyed the Willie Nelson platter and the Bevo salad. The queso was just average. The Patron margarita was muy bueno.
