So excited to find authentic Chinese food. Food was excellent! Staff was friendly, very helpful with the menu and provided outstanding service. Will be back again and again.

Order at counter; then wait staff will deliver food. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great food for the price. Ask for kimchee, wasn’t on the menu but they have it. Salmon sushi was fishy but the salmon fried rice was great… go figure! Would I go back; yep. Clean, friendly, great choices at a great price.

Affordable, clean and huge portions. I would go back again and try to pick steamed vs strong fried food

This is my first time at this restaurant, and I knew I wanted to try it out because of the traditional Chinese menu(they also have a «Springfield» menu). The atmosphere is really cute and service is prompt. There is not a ton of seating, but that’s okay. I ordered the #18 on the traditional menu which is soy sauce sugar pork belly. The sauce is good, but there is so much fat on the pork belly. I know it’s a fatty cut of meat, but some pieces are only fat. I am pretty displeased with the pork. I also ordered the fried rice with it, which is very plain and has a subtle sweet aftertaste. I’m not sure if I like it or not. I also ordered a half order of crab rangoons. These are not as sweet as the usual crab rangoons you’d get in Springfield. All in all, I probably wouldn’t order this dish again. I’m curious on the Springfield menu. This place has stayed busy in the 30 minutes I’ve been here, so maybe I caught them on an off night.

Best Chinese is SGF. Both the traditional and American menus have tons of great options. I recommend the shredded pork, Kung Pao Beef(Traditional), General Chicken and you have to get some Potstickers!

Had steamed dumplings, tasty and juicy, but could have been a bit brighter with ginger. Then I had some great pork belly cooked red style, slowly cooked in soy sauce, sugar and spices. Melt in your mouth goodness. Super nice waiter

This is our first time and last time at Bao Bao. We ordered two dishes: the Oil Beef and the Seafood Hot Pot, both from the authentic Chinese menu. There was only a couple of customers before us that did not receive their food yet, but we waited more than 45 minutes for our food. The Oil Beef came out cold even though it was a hot noodle dish in the menu; while the hotpot was still steaming hot. However the hotpot was a big disappointment. The broth is more to the consistency of pudding than hot pot broth and all the seafood must be super old and frozen stuffs. I guess if you’re in the Midwest, you can’t really do seafood justice. The Oil Beef was exceed our expectation! Spicy with lots of Szechuan pepper just like the traditional dish have. The glass noodle was cooked perfectly! Highly recommended this dish.

So far we have only been to Bao Bao Chinese Bistro once, but it was fantastic and I’m sure it will be the first of many visits. Great service and despite such a tiny dining room in their very small space, it felt comfy and even a bit romantic. Great atmosphere! A word to the wise, as you enter Chesterfield Village there’s not a very noticeable sign for Bao Bao but it’s just to the right on the same section as Prima’s Mexican restaurant. After an unseasonably warm morning of hiking, I was in the mood for something a little lighter than say, kung pao chicken… Bao Bao’s Chinese menu offered so many appetizing options but I wound up going with the mushroom and bok choy and it was the perfect entrée. The steamed rice alongside delicate, perfectly cooked vegetables in a glorious not-over-the-top sauce… yes! I’ll definitely be back. However, the star of the table was my husband’s tofu and celery dish. The tofu was amazing! We loved the versatility of a Chinese menu and American«Springfield style» menu. I plan to eventually explore both!

This is my favorite Chinese food in town. The food is fresh and delicious. The owners and her family are so nice, and treat you with respect and kindness. The restaurant is always clean as well. I love the veggie lomein and spring rolls!

When in Springfield Missouri and in the mood for Chinese food this should be your go to place! The bourbon steak was excellent and fresh. The Kung Pao shrimp and the pepper chicken were plentiful. I can’t wait to go back for the meatballs hot pot!

My husband and I love Bao Bao. We eat there several time a month. The food is very good and service is always pleasant. When I have special requests they always try to fulfill it. They always give large portions. Prices are reasonable too. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Not bad. Not great. We ordered from the«Traditional» Chinese menu. No, not really traditional. The usual suspects, plus WAYTOOMUCH cornstarch in every dish.

They lost 1 star because they had Crab Rangoon on their menu! But they totally made up for it for having my favorites on their menu; Clams with Black Bean Sauce and Duck. I didn’t realize until I read more Unilocal reviews that this restaurant has an Authentic Chinese menu and a Americanized menu. I’m used to the family style Chinese restaurants in Hawaii and since moving off island its just been hard finding good Authentic Chinese restaurants. Maybe next time I go to Bao Bao again, I’ll ask for the Authentic menu. My husband and I like to go on lunch dates while the kids are in school. I wanted to try this place out since I heard about it on Unilocal. The place is small and quaint. Our server was very friendly. We ordered the same thing, which was on the Specials board in the restaurant. I’m not sure what it was called, it consisted of Squid and Shrimp with veggies added in. When we ordered the special, the waitress asked if we wanted to substitute the Squid for Chicken. We must have given her the most weirdest look because she quickly explained to us that most people don’t like squid and substitute for chicken. My husband and I love seafood, so we did not substitute anything on this dish. It tasted very good that I would order it again. The dish had a nice mild spicy kick to it and it came with a bowl of rice.

Very Good Alternative for Chinese American Cuisine! Chinese American cuisine is a dime a dozen in Springfield with each offering their little twist or specialty. Bao Bao goes a huge step further by offering standard Chinese American fare with some very authentic Chinese cuisine as well. The menus done in Chinese is a nice touch, but the real bonus is the extensive menu. You get a wide selection of seafood, duck, pork, chicken and beef entrées as well as vegan dishes. Service was good and friendly, food was prepared very well, and had very good taste. Step out of your usual Chinese take out box and give Bao Bao a try.

Had dinner with the family here while on vacation and we ordered family style. We had seven main dishes for the seven of us. It was all excellent. One thing to note is they have a Chinese menu and an Americanized menu. All the food is good but the Chinese menu is absolutely fantastic!

While visiting Springfield Mrs. M and I shared our first Bao Bao experience at dinner last night with a group of local friends. Sharing bits of entrees around the table I was impressed with all the offerings and both of us enjoyed our food. The service was a bit off kilter, but my local cohorts assure me that is not the normal state here so I’ll trust their judgement. Bao Bao does not have much seating so avoid rush times, but as I said the food is very good and the prices are hard to beat. I’ll visit again.

We have been back several times. The food is very good. I recommend the meatball hot pot, the kung poa beef or chicken, the steamed dumplings are great and did not come off the back of a Sysco truck. The salt and pepper squid is not to be missed! Lucy is one of the great waitresses in Springfield and will is a gladly help you with the traditional menu. Much better than Spfd Chinese chicken. This is a great restaurant and does have carryout.

Best Authentic Chinese food in town! My favorite is Pork meatball soup, it came in stone hot pot with clear noodle. The Chinese authentic menu has great varieties of food. However, there are plenty of typical Chinese food. Large portion and great price! Good service. Don’t expect to get to food fast if you come during dinner hours but the food is worth the wait. I find the table is very sticky, it’s hard not to touch it when you eat though.
