Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Friendly service and great food! I had the haddock dinner and it was cooked perfectly! My husband had the chicken fried chicken and was very happy with is meal as well.

My first time to this location. I think everyone in our party had good food. I strayed from my usual (country fried steak) and got the Sunday special homestyle chicken on the recommendation from the waiter. It was over done, the breading very dark, almost burnt. The chicken was good, breading pretty bad. Another in our party had basically a smaller version of the same thing, and it was great.
I will say that the portion was huge, and the waiter really good.

Got sick after eating here, however the sampler platter was my go to!

Always great service, will make made to order omelets, iced cold tea, best pancakes in town!

Would be at least 4 stars if they still brought more biscuits and gravy but they stopped doing that. Still one of the best breakfast options though.

I love the food at Cracker Barrel. I’ve had the meatloaf, a sampler plate, chicken and dumplings, hash brown casserole, pinto beans, cheeseburgers and more. It’s like going to eat at Grandmas. I also love looking through their country store. I’d love to go in there with about $ 500 to blow. The wait staff has always been very courteous and meals served quickly. The only reason I don’t come here more frequently is because I’m disabled and oftentimes you have to wait up to 30 minutes for a table. That’s my only complaint.

The staff in the store was great other than the hostess who was very rude, I would love to say this was the first time we’ve had issues with this Cracker Barrel but it’s not. If your party is bigger than 5 prepare to watch group after group of 4 go before you. When you finally get seated the food is not up to what you would expect from Cracker Barrel. Our food was dried out from being under a heat lamp too long and we had to reorder 20 minutes after our initial order because they were out and didn’t realize until the other dishes were ready. I love this chain but the way this particular one has treated me I’m not going back. The Troy and Springfield Missouri branches are much better at everything, and seat large parties much quicker.

I do understand Zoe’s review… she’s from Calif. and here…“It’s the Midwest” we don’t get to exotic Mexican and Chinese are about as adventuresome as we get… outside of… maybe olives on pizza… still don’t like the thought of that… Now my review. We ate at the Springfield Illinois Cracker Barrel last night!!! Great food, I get the sampler, my wife get’s Chicken Fried Chicken which she loves… Great server, nice clean place… fast service… My sister-​in-​law lives in California and can’t wait to come back home and go to a Cracker Barrel… It’s GREAT!!!

Great place to eat on a Sunday morning, it is always busy. I always get the chicken friend chicken with extra gravy with a side of their hashbrown casserole. It is most excellent.

i love cracker barrel restaurants! it makes u feel like ur in a family environment & all cozy. i had the 4 sides dish with fried okra, mac n cheese, greens & hashbrowns. it was so good that i ate it all in like 10min! i also love their biscuits with honey! yummmmmy! im gettin hungry just writing this review! anytime i can go 2 a cracker barrel i will definitely go!

My husband and I went for dinner and even though the environment was ok, the food was very disappointing. The potato soup and the clam chowder were both salty and extremely thick, to a point they both looked like oatmeal and they both tasted the same way! We are still wondering how that was possible. The lemon pepper grilled rainbow trout was small and bland, barely seasoned. The dumplings as a side dish were horrible; the sauce was extremely thick and we were not able to eat more than one. The meatloaf was overcooked outside and barely cooked inside; the flavor was nothing special and needed more spices. The side of carrots was just that, a side of boiled baby carrots that anyone could make at home and the macaroni and cheese seemed to be cooked hours before our order was placed. If you still decide to go there, Do not order the cranberry ice tea; it tasted more like sweetened water with a slight berry flavor, and i had it because i needed something to wash out the taste of the food. The only ok part of the meal was the fried apples, which were well cooked but were nothing special. The service was fine… But unfortunately we will never go back there, the food is definitely not worth it and looked like if it was taken out of a TV dinner container and heated for us. We are not fans of fast food, but even that would have been better than this place.

I feel weird giving 5 stars to a chain restaurant, but I couldn’t find anything wrong! Fun little craft country store, clean restaurant, flavorful food for a good price… Fried catfish for breakfast, you say? Sounds a little weird, but I’m game to try it. Thank God I did! One of the best, moist, flaky, cornmeal-​dusted fish dishes I’ve ever had! Oh, and you should REALLY ask for Payge as your server — meticulous, friendly, and helpful to the nth degree.

We stopped in for lunch during a road trip just to be adventurous. That’ll teach us.
I don’t wish my review to cast aspersions on the nice ladies who work in the shop, but the fact is that this was without a doubt the second-​worst meal we’ve ever had in our lives. This is not to say that you might not enjoy it, if like so many people in the state of Illinois you prefer your food to be bland, gelatinous and in the end a slow form of suicide via diabeetus.
To be fair, I should have been tipped off by the clientelle. If you find yourself the youngest diner in any establishment by roughly 30 years, basically, run.

Great like every other Cracker Barrel. Both lunch and dinner are yummy Can definitely be busy in the evenings in the summer.

Was there on Jan 23, 2011 for breakfast. Ordered the Sunrise Sampler, which is supposed to come with grits and biscuits and gravy. When the waitress served the food, she said they had run out of biscuits. But she didn’t bring grits or gravy. After I was finished with the food I had been served, she came to the table to say biscuits would take four more minutes – would I lik toast? Couldn’t believe it. How do you run out of biscuits on a Sunday morning. Pathetic.

I had their pancakes for dinner and they were delicious! I couldn’t have been more pleased with customer service. When my family and I walked in, we were greeted with a strong air of happiness. It was great; the atmosphere, everything!

Went for Christmas Eve dinner while I was home with the folks, and had a less than great experience. My chicken fried steak was really grisly, to the point where I didn’t want to eat it. This was all resolved when the manager took it completely off our bill. They may get busy, but their customer service has always been impressive.
