Ok, so the juniors/womens clothing here is crazy. Like, New Jersey nightclub crazy. However, I do life the children’s clothing. They sell a lot of Nike, Puma and Carter’s but with the new Carter’s opening up in town, you can get much cheaper prices buying directly from them. They also sell a lot of Mizzou clothing. The clothing sections are always a disaster. I really only shop here for the home décor. There’s tons of it and i feel like there’s something for everyone. I could spend hours in their home décor! The prices are very reasonable for the most part.

I have never had a bad experience with Gordmans customer service and the few purchases I’ve made here have been fine, so that accounts for my «A-OK» 3 star rating. However, I can’t truly recommend this store. I feel their prices overall are too high for the low quality of merchandise they offer. Particularly in the clothing departments, the clothes are very low quality with higher than average prices and I honestly marvel at it because I don’t know anyone who wears the styles of ladies & juniors clothing Gordmans carries. Really outdated and odd, reminiscient of the odd cheap clothing selection in very low end stores like Dollar General than other bargain department stores. The same goes for their housewares. Pricing along the lines of TJ Maxx but much lower quality most of the time. To me this store is puzzling.

I use to shop here all the time for clothing in the Juniors Plus section, but anymore the clothes here are ridiculous. It’s either super old lady style or really ‘hooker on the corner.’ Nothing seems to fit well anymore either. I am happy they finally started selling jeans with a shorter inseam. The mens department is hit or miss too. It seems to be full of a lot of clothes for young thugs. We did manage to find a few nice shirts for my other half and a pair of slacks. Also their big and tall section for men seems to be pretty large. That might be helpful for someone. Housewares is what this store is good for now. And with all the other places offering better quality housewares at low prices this place may fall to the wayside. I really wish the buyers for clothes would get their shit together. Just because 18 year olds want to dress like tramps doesn’t mean the majority of the population does. Also it’s called JUNIORS Plus, so really I’m pretty sure juniors don’t want to dress like old blue hairs. That is all. My little sister did manage to spend a small fortune on clothes in the regular juniors section. I do want to note that juniors should be able to buy XL in the regular department and not have to shop in plus. My sister is super tall and curvy and by no means is she fat. It’s ridiculous to me that she has to shop in the plus section or in the old lady misses section. Juniors can’t have curves? Give me a break. I think most«juniors» aren’t built like 10 year old boys.

I recently purchased an $ 85 comforter set. I could tell the bag had been opened but everything seemed to be there. Once I got home and opened it there were(no kidding) EIGHT cigarette burn holes, numerous stains and the whole set reeked of smoke. Once I return this I will NOT be giving gordmans any of my business.

I like Gordmans. My favorite department is «home fashions». I have purchased several large pictures, candles and picture frames. They also have some beautiful«iron work» art pieces. They seem to stock unique items at very reasonable prices. I use to buy a lot of clothing here, but it seems their juniors’ section has gotten somewhat trashy. I do check out misses’ career type clothing and occasionally find something. Lately, their ladies’ shoes selection has been sparse. They do carry Kathy Van Zeeland and Guess purses; they are cheaper than the same lines sold at Macy’s or other department stores. The only thing I would truly fault Gordon’s on is the return policy. I have returned a couple of things there in the past ten years. That’s not a lot of items considering I am a long time customer. The last time I tried to return something, I DID have the receipt. The clerk was very irritable with the customers ahead of me and then acted like taking my item back was a huge hassle. I have a bad impression returning items. If I am not completely sure about an item, I don’t buy it. As a bonus, if you sign up on their website you will regularly be emailed % off coupons! Recently, I have lowered my Gordman’s rating. I purchased a black ottoman right before Christmas. After I wrestled it in and out of my mom’s SUV, I noticed there was some damage on it. Ugh… back in the little Escape to Gordman’s. There were no black ones left, just espresso. Sigh… I would need to find an ottoman elsewhere even though I thought this was a good deal and aesthetically pleasing. I went back to Gordman’s a few days later just to check to see if they received any more black ottomans before I left for home. Bingo! — black ottoman! Yah, right. It was the DAMAGED ottoman I had purchased and returned. Some other poor person will end up purchasing a damaged piece of furniture for full price. Had it been placed back on the shelf«as is» or reduced due to the damage — no worries. But to just re-stock it like there was no damage — NOTCOOL! I will continue to shop, but inspect everything w/a keen eye.

I love Gordman’s. When I lived in Springfield I shopped here all the time. Perhaps it’s gone downhill? I’ll check it out when I go back to visit this summer. I only ever shopped for clothes, though.

This is a s c a r y store. They have stuff that looks like it was from the Island of Unfit Toys, only this is from the Bad Ideas on Bad Drugs Department. I confess, I once bought two cat dishes and a couple of shirts for my nephews there, but it is a scary place. I suppose you could find bargains there, but you might want to alter your mind in some way, like lots of expensive dental work and the accompanying substances, before you go in there.
