I received a gift from my mother who bought a dress from Kmart in Jefferson City, Missouri. I live here in Springfield and I needed to exchange the dress. My mother is a Kmart rewards member but on this day she forgot to use her rewards and unfortunately she can’t find the receipt. I went into the store and explained that my mother had bought the wrong size dress and I needed to exchange it. Mind you the dress still has the tags on it. I was told that the only thing I could do was get the same dress in a different size. No merchandize credit nothing. They was absolutely no customer service at all. The manager couldn’t have been more than 21 and he just shrugged his shoulders and could care less. Basically they could care less about customer service and they wonder why they are closing stores down and no one shops there. I then called corporate and filed a complaint. They said they needed my mother’s debit card number to look up and mail a receipt to my mother. Here’s the thing, why would ANYONE shop where the whole company has no customer service skills? Think about how simple it is to shop at Walmart. When you return something, if you don’t have a receipt, you show your license and you are on your way. How can a company expect to act like this and then wonder why no one shops there.

I’ve had the best pharmacy experience all year here. Mr. Hong runs a very organized pharmacy with top-rate customer service. I transferred a prescription and he not only directly called the doctor for refills(since it expired and I didn’t realize it), but also maintained patience in writing down insurance info(since I had no paper version to hand over) and help with discount cards I had. It was nice not having to jump through a billion hoops like other pharmacies I’ve been to(even when I was more organized and had fewer obstacles to give them)!

Poor customer service. I stood at the electronics counter for about 30 minutes. There was one older lady who stood gossiping with a customer for 10 minutes then walked by me and said she would be right back to help me. I waited and she came back spoke with another lady for a minute then turned around and walked away again. Seriously? I was planning on buying a couple big ticket items and didn’t get the treatment I should have. The store was crazy quiet and I felt like one of the only people there so it’s not like yall were busy. I left and went to Walmart and honestly I had 4 people in line to help me there. It’s no wonder you guys are slowly being pushed out and becoming obsolete. I give it another year or 2 and KMart won’t exist.

Who knew that Olan Mills is located at Kmart? Or maybe it is this specific Kmart. I remember my mother dragging us there for portraits all the way through high school(yes, there is one– actually a painting –of me in my prom dress) because«it was the best» for pictures. We always went to a studio, but hey, now you can get your picture taken, shop for underware, dishes, curtains, and do it all in the same place! Just kidding, but I found it a bit strange– but if the quality is still the same– what a great deal! So I hit this Kmart up on Christmas eve trying to pick up a last minute set of pyrex glass tupperware. My mother, a wonderful, incredible person, and a child of a fantastic farm mother who made it through the depression, saves every blasted leftover in mismatched cottage cheese, lunchmeat, and butter(you get the idea) containers in the refridgerator. The she switches it to glass to reheat. The she switches it back to plastic to store. Oh, the clean up! I could no longer take it. But had neglected to pick these up. And these pyrex thingys are not cheap. So I hit up Kmart(I had not been in one of these stores in YEARS– they don’t have them by me). They were on sale, had one left, and I was out of the store at just over 20 $. Talk about a deal. The price alone for the large set makes me wish we had Kmarts in my area. I will admit the store could have been a bit cleaner. But it was Christmas Eve. And they still had stock, the clerks were fantastic, the lines were short, and the price was AMAZING!!!

This Kmart is where I got several long curtain panels at rock bottom prices on clearance a few years ago. My total at the register was $ 16. They’re a green print, they look awesome. This is also the Kmart where I finally found two, large, identical frames that were not marred or scuffed, and would work with my kids’ big graduation photos. I wanted frames that looked classic and upscale. I had checked at Kohls, Penneys Home Store, Sears, Walmart, and maybe even the mailers from Pier One.

Of the 3 Springfield locations, this is my least favorite K Mart store. It is a little smaller and dirtier than the others and they seem to run out of the items I’m looking for more quickly than the other locations. I know it is a challenge to properly staff retail stores but this one seems to have some serious problems with staffing; I’ve been in on a Tuesday morning with 4 cashiers standing there twiddling their thumbs, and I’ve seen long lines at one open register on a relatively busy Saturday afternoon.
