Buyer beware. An update to the purchase of the refrigerator that smelled like smoke: I purchased the fridge in the summer as a garage fridge. It was dented and scratched with shelves that were missing and the water line was cut. It was priced appropriately at $ 150. A couple months after purchasing the fridge, it began to freeze my food and drinks. I tried lowering the temp incrementally until I could lower the temp no more. This process took several weeks until I reached the minimum temp setting. When the fridge continued to freeze, it was nearing the end of the warranty so I called the shop to discuss. They asked me to try something they thought would likely resolve the problem. This was attempted and took more time off the clock. When that solution did not resolve the problem I phoned them again. They told me to bring it in, and that the warranty period was nearing it’s end. When she stated that I should bring it in and they would see what they could do, I was dubious, as the wording seemed a bit deliberate… and she had hung up on me twice before. I asked if they would repair it under warranty since we had been talking about the problem for weeks, and she said yes. By the time I was able to bring it in, the warranty had expired by approximately one week. They kindly helped me unload the fridge and said they would get back to me. They phone about a week later and described several problems they discovered and the cost to repair them would exceed the purchase price by a significant amount. I don’t remember the parts that failed but I do remember her stating that there was a missing pan under the fridge that was likely contributing to it freezing as it allowed the cold air to get into the fridge. Made sense because it seemed the fridge became colder when the weather had begun to change with the advent of cooler evenings. She informed me that the fridge was no longer under warranty. I reminded her that she’s said they would consider it under warranty in our phone conversation earlier, and she promptly«reminded» me of my earlier review and that the repair was no longer under warranty. They offered to take the $ 150 off the price of a new fridge as a compromise. I declined the offer as this is a garage fridge and purchased as such. I was not looking to spend a great deal of money on a garage fridge. We agreed to settle this in small claims. They sold me a fridge that was missing a key element that contributed to its failure then refused to honor their word. Honestly, $ 150 is not worth the continued negative vibe in my life, so I guess they keep that fridge and my $ 150. Buyer beware

We purchased a used dryer. It broke – twice. But they fixed it for us free-of-charge it’s been working great for over a year. We went back and got a washer. Mom and pop, so if you need help it may take a little longer than box store. But we’ve been happy with the service.

My Dryer was working very poorly for months, not drying clothes and making a horrible screetching sound when turned on. I called around to other places for estimates on a repair and Hank’s had the best price on labor. The Customer service was great on the phone, walking me through my options and when Hank came out to pick up my machine, he helped me to understand what the exact problem was instead of treating me like some dumb girl. My dryer was back in 4 hours and has been runing great since(5 months ago) I also got a new dishwasher from them and was very please with how fast they were able to find one in my price range and how fast if was installed! I am very satisfied with my experience and would highly recommend them for your appliance needs.

Hank’s Appliances sold me two faulty washers in a row. After the first one broke, they would only replace it if we paid an installation fee(though we were initially told installation was included). Two days after they installed the new washer, the drain hose came detached from the back of the washer and flooded my apartment and my neighbor’s. As it was a Sunday, Hank’s was unreachable. The following day, they didn’t bother to return our message. When my husband finally reached Hank, he was unapologetic and wouldn’t send somebody out for repair until that evening. As might be expected, we are now dealing with the massive clean-up involved. Hank’s has now claimed that the flooding was our fault, though they did the installation. Do not buy your appliances here. They will not take responsibility for improper installation/faulty equipment.
