Good ice cream. Good selection of flavors. Customer service is good, although some staff need to realize that customers DON’T HAVETHREEHANDS! They should collect payment and provide change BEFORE providing the ice cream. Trying to put change in a wallet and put the wallet away while holding an ice cream cone in one hand can be awkward, to say the least!

Jonathan’s Summer Place is a seasonal ice cream stand located in the parking lot of the Springfield Plaza(Shaw’s/Peebles). The place closed for the 2011 season on Sunday September 11 and reopens for business in the spring. They offer regular(choc, vanilla, black raspberry, special flavor) and 20 plus flavors of soft serve ice cream(cones/cups), waffle cones, specialty sundaes, banana splits, tornadoes, shakes, floats, malts, and cold drinks. For the pooch, a Doggie Ice Cream dish with vanilla soft serve & biscuit is offered. The prices(2011) are fair(with tax), regular soft serve cones/dishes $ 1.50-$ 2.00-$ 2.50 tot-reg-large, sundaes $ 3.50-$ 4.50, tornadoes $ 3.75, banana split $ 5.00, and shakes/malts(22 oz only) $ 3.85. The soft serve ice cream here is pretty good, cold, creamy and refreshing. I enjoy their specialty sundaes including the Brownie Sundae, Peanut Butter Delight(PB sauce &PB cups), Cookie Dough Mania(cookie dough bits & hot fudge), and the Dish of Dirt(Oreos, gummy worms, hot fudge), topped with whipped cream and cherry on top. The service is quick and friendly. There are other places very close by to get ice cream including Friendly’s(just a few yards away across the parking lot) and McDonald’s(cheap cones offered) across the street, but I prefer going Jonathan’s Summer Place on a warm sunny day when it’s open.
