This bar is so much fun, definitely worth the $ 6 cover. The doorman was definitely lacking in personality but he was the only one. Lando was a dope bartender and made me several very strong, very tasty Cherry Banana drinks. Chris was a hell of a good shot guy, very friendly and he replaced some dropped shots which comes out of his own pocket. What a guy! The drag show was so great and the main girl gave me a shout out on stage. The people were super nice and I made some great new friends. If you’re new in town this place is perfect!

Fun atmosphere and $ 1 shots but don’t expect free glasses of water(they charge $ 2/glass)

My girlfriend and I’s favorite spot to go dancing in Springfield. Granted, when you read this review, know that it’s coming from a mob of straight chicks celebrating a birthday or a bachelorette party. But dammit, if you don’t want a bunch of straight chicks at a gay bar, stop making it so fun! Great music, drag, good drinks, and limited worries over getting your drink spiked by some handsy frat boy. Win all around!

It’s an ok atmosphere. In my opinion it could use some updating to a more modern look. The drag show we saw was good and interesting. The crowd ranged from all ages, and the vibe was upbeat. Definitely a fun place to get together with some friends if you’re looking for an evening of alternative entertainment. If you’re looking for that sort of night, I’d recommend Martha’s.

Think of your worst stereo type u can think of for this bar. And they won’t disappoint. Years of cultivating atmosphere of sex and drugs this is a dangerous place. Drinks get spiked all the time and to the staff its normal it’s the lifestyle. It shouldn’t be but they have made it a dangerous place

Fun and festive, there is an outdoor patio with seating. The bathrooms are abysmal and my best advice is to avoid them altogether. Recent upgrades place the venue on par with other downtown clubs, but the cover charge is ludicrous and excessive. It’s still a fun place to meet your friends with plenty of free parking nearby.

I have a ton of very fond memories of this place from my undergrad years at Missouri State. If you are an LGBT person in town, this really IS your only option for a dance floor and weeknight drag(if that’s your thing, I’m not usually that interested unless it’s REALLY good drag, and the queens here are… lacking). Here are the other LGBT establishments summed up: I’m impressed the largely vacant Club Vibe stays open, The Edge is a gay bar my dad would feel comfortable in, and the newest place Mix is a fine establishment but it’s more of a neighborhood bar than a dance club. Martha’s is it if that’s what you’re looking for, and it mostly fits the bill. Mostly. Here’s the thing: the music here on their Wednesday and Saturday all-dance nights is a schizophrenic mix of the good, the bad, and the downright tragic. I went here often enough to notice that some nights you have string after string of HOT remixes of top 40, and other nights you have the«Cupid Shuffle» put back-to-back with the«Cha-Cha Slide» and maybe«I Love Rock and Roll» thrown in to make the wedding-reception-or-possibly-seventh-grade-dance-party vibe feel complete. «What the fuck?» is a phrase my friends and I would utter in the direction of the DJ booth several times in one night, especially in recent months. It only seems to keep going downhill, the ratio of bad nights to good slanting depressingly toward the former. Given that this is, as mentioned earlier, the only major dance club catering to an LGBT crowd in a very large radius, that’s a serious problem and my main reason for docking the place. BUT: If you, unlike myself, can groove to Kriss-Kross without having taken enough tequila shots to lose functionality in your limbs, thus making«Jump» a very dangerous song to try and obey, then knock yourself out! You’ll never be disappointed here.

I simply love Martha’s and have gone here for years. The best drinks, best dance space, and most open place in the entire town. My husband and I usually end up here when we go out and we always have a fantastic time. In fact when we don’t go here the conversation at the end of the night is always«We should have gone to Martha’s» LOVE this place!

This place used to be great before they started allowing the under 21 crowd. They also changed the speaker system. While I ofcourse like loud music when I go to a club, this is a bit outrageous. Lower it down just a bit, kids… The bartenders are great though, no denying that! If Chad is working then be sure and order a «Sex with Chad.» It’s a mix of a SHITLOAD of Malibu rums. It’s soo tasty but very strong! The«girls» on Friday night are gorgeous… check out the show!

Some of our favorite nights, while living in Branson, MO, were spent after our hour long drive to Springfield. All the crazy dancers, musicians, and other loons from the Branson shows would head on up to Martha’s to let off some steam. It was great to have a place to dance without regard for the bible-thumpers from the bible belt of Branson. Where else could you go(not even in LA) where there is one place where straights, bull/butch-dykes, queens, leather-daddys, homos, lipscicks, trannys, and anything else yo can imagine, can all get together, drink, dance and have a good time and get along. Marthas ROCKED, I hope it still ROCKS!!! BTW, they really know how to mix their drinks!!!

i’m not gay but i love The Gays. this was by far my favorite booty shakin’ place on Saturday nights. i’d round up all my favorite Gays [aka BFFs and co-workers] and we’d hit the town. The White Party was my favorite event. i love that you’ll see every size, shape, color, and type of people here. gay, straight, lesbian, drag queen, drag king, transexual, whatever. Springfield isn’t exactly a hot-bed of Gay Love and Acceptance. this place is the oasis for those of us who love The Gays unabashedly in all your forms. i love a good dance mix, a hot leather daddy and a chubby lesbian all gettin’ down on that dance floor. i spent many happy hours downing cocktails, shouting down friends and getting more hugs than i can remember. there are many drunken pix of me and my Gays on my MySpace taken here than anywhere else. the music is poppin’, the drinks reasonable and the staff is all about flattery. i love how i get the raised eyebrow and look of surprise as i hand over my ID to pay the $ 5 and get in. those chicks make me feel 21 all over again! and the DJ almost always would play us a good song before the end of the night. i love you Martha’s for giving all of us who maybe ain’t gay a way to have fun with our group of Gays!

I love Martha’s Vineyard. The best thing for me about this place is that every time I go, I see someone else from high school and we get into big conversations about why we’re in a gay bar. My Will at the time saw his rabbi here(yes, there are Jewish people in Springfield, and some of them are gay). I think I may have made out with more men in this bar than any straight bars back in college. Definitely has the best dancing in Springfield, regardless of the type of bar. I’d go here over a typical club any day.

I’m only giving Martha’s fours stars because of the location. If you’re in the Ozarks, this is one of a mere three or four gay bars to which you can go. When I go back to Springfield to visit family, I usually make an attempt to hit up Martha’s at least once. Parking is right outside next to the bar, so don’t fret about that. I think Jordan Creek shares one of the parking lots. They do have a cover, although it isn’t too expensive. Normally I can charm my way in by using the California card. Also one of the bartenders, Shawn, is amazing! I just tell him I want another drink based on rum or whatever I feel like and he makes it. Most of the bartenders I know stumble around with those types of requests, but not Shawn. Also, if you’re from out of the area, this is the place to go if you’re wanting to have a really cheap good time. You can’t beat spending $ 40 all night on a ton of drinks for you and your friend. Here in the Bay, $ 40 will last you and your friend maybe 2 – 4 drinks each depending on what you order and how well you tip. Martha’s has expanded and now has four distinct areas. The main dance floor with bar and tables is in the front when you walk in. They also have an open deck outside. They have an additional area that is next to the main room that has another bar. Basically people go here for drinks and to sit and chat at the bar. Then you have the back room that has a very minuscule bar and a pool table. Normally if you want to have a semi-private conversation with your friend, this is where you can retreat. All-in-all, it isn’t too bad. The music is fairly decent, but you have to take into account it’s somewhat behind the times in comparison to California and New York. For the area though, it’s THE gay spot. One additional thought, it’s really fun to go here when college is in session because you have a fair amount of hot guys that show up from there.
